One of the greatest live performances there ever will be. These men are retirement age and have more fire and charisma than any band today. The playing is flawless, Pete is a revelation as he doesn't need parlor tricks to show his wizardry on a 6 string, and Roger is still as powerful as a singer could hope to be at his age. There will never be another Era like that of the WHO!
Back then, music was raw and powerful, Bands knew no limits with antics and lyrics, today, they want PC role models that have safe lyrics to promote. We will never have music the way it was supposed to be, same can be said with Movies & games. It’s all PC safe bullshit that’s so fucking bland all I do is play old games listening to old music.

How can be so perfect? This band is one of the best of all time
Wow, I remember watching this live with that epic Pink Floyd reunion. I was a senior in high school, so this was during my peak WHO fandom, I was obsessed with both The Who and Pink Floyd :D
Great live performance, you cant beat an A or E chord that breaks your burden rather than a gazillion notes that mean nothing, you can't deny a song this great!
I was 18 when I saw the Who do (Quadrophenia) It was the concert right after the 13 people were killed in Cincinnati !!!!! It was the first time I was on the floor-, it was single file going into the Spectrum no one was getting killed on this night, at the time the Who was the loudest band (according to the Guinness book of records)on the planet! I was about ten feet from the stage, they had 40 speakers hanging and pointed down at the crowd, plus 40 more speakers lining the stage all around them! I was tone deaf for 3 days after the show! Roger ran in place and all over the stage for 3 hours strait! I was with 3 girls and 2 other guys that night! We did some CRANK(I'm sure Roger & Pete did too) before entering the Spectrum, good thing we did! People started pushing us forward so we locked hands and kept the crowd at bay from not pushing us into the stage! It was soooo hot the chics had to bend down close to the floor, so as to not pass out! I will never forget it, what a show it was! Later on I saw them do there 50th anniversary at the Wells Fargo center, they still got after all these years, hope I get to see them again before they stop touring it is now 2021!! LOVE THE WHO with all my heart, there is not a better band still in 2021!!!
probably one of their last great truly visceral (televised) performances, before old age really took hold. I saw them on the Quadrophenia tour 2013 having seen them many times previously and sadly it was the last time i'd go.
Bruce Fairman not sure why you think I’m trying to imply that. I’m simply saying that they would’ve done well to do more rehearsals with the drummer for this one.
Its said that their original drummer (Keith Moon) would get bored and start changing bits and pieces while in rehearsal causing the rest of the band to pick up the tempo X)
Live 8 was the best RIP Keith in The Godfathers Of Mod, especially one this many decades stage was fucking on old knees?- Pete Townsend is Best drummer of all time
Townsends always baffled me with his silly windmill gimmick I feel as he wasn't such a great guitarist he kind of invented this to camouflage it a bit, looks effective but doesn't actually touch the guitar whilst doing it haha, good watch tho
Drummer totally missed coming in after the breakdown. He should have come in big, and totally missed it. Seems like a pick up drummer that didnt know the material all that well.
That is true. In his defense, they only did a single partial runthrough beforehand. He also said that the bass player, who was also filling in, counted him in on Won't Get Fooled, or he would have missed the drum solo.
@@JeroenK You clearly know nothing about Steve White. Moreover, he did brilliantly for someone with only an hour’s rehearsal. Stop trolling and do your research, you stupid old cretin.
@@TheMusicalElitist I agree with his performance being brilliant, taking into account the rehearsal time. I also enjoy it very much. No need to get nasty.
Steve and Damon only had an hour’s rehearsal with the Who the day before this performance. They ran through the songs they had to play twice and that was it. All things considered, I think they did okay.
@@shaunmcgee4204 They did brilliantly. Also Pete told Damon after the gig that Damon played the songs better than any bassist - apart from Entwistle of course.
Snowflakes at the Parents Television Council worried bout a F bomb, I'm sorry but children will eventually learn to swear it's inevitable so deal with it and get rekt!
When I was 15 I thought Pete was a weird old man trying to be cool. Now I'm 32 and I realize he actually IS that cool.
This is exactly what I was thinking. First saw them on Live 8
My name is Lisa

Well said 👍
Amazing artists, Pete’s on fire!
RIP John Entwistle. miss you, Ox. and RIP Keith Moon. Love Daltrey and Townshend. they are the coolest.
That night, the Who blew everyone away off the stage, awesome performance.
Well, Pink Floyd was yet to come.

Pete Townsend is powerhouse.
Agreed - but The Who without Roger Daltrey would not have been The Who
I remember watching this and thinking "I swear to God if he doesn't windmill....." then 5:47 happened and I was instantly "😀"
Roger really7 bringing it here. Amazing vocal performance!
Yes indeed I read somewhere he was recovering from Flu at the time so he pulled this off very well.
Awesome performance for any band, especially one this many decades later.
Yes they are absolutely amazing!!! I was born many years before they were around too, and remember when they began as the High Numbers!!!
Not to mention that it’s the the wisest choice for a live performance.
I remember The Who came on following Razorlight. They blew those kids right off stage with this performance!
A bit of disrespect that so many people come with ‘RIP Keith Moon’ but I don’t think I’ve seen anybody mentioning John Entwistle...
True they are both watching down at them in this. R I P to them both.
As per usual, daltrey nails it when singing townsend. Roger and pete still keeping the great " who " relevant in 2005 and even 2day. True legends!
RIP Thunderfingers
entwistle to me was the bass powerhouseof the band , is that steve on drums and damon minchella on bass. if ever 2 good musicians to fill big boots
Das ist einer der besten Liveauftritte, das ich gehört habe, 2023 in Berlin waren sie aber auch sehr gut........
My top favorite band and they still got it!! been listening to them since I was 16 years old.
I miss Keith and John. Peter always gave credit to Ox, his bass playing was why there only needed the 4 of them.

Amen to that. Saw them in hyde park in 2015. And a few other times and places. ...ing great band!!
Inmortales!!! The Who, creo que nunca vinieron a Sudamérica, como me hubiera gustado verlos. Esa guitarra del maestro Pete Townshend, magistral!!!
¡¡¡Vinieron en 2017!!!
Always Loved Pete' s guitar playing ...

Steve White on drums and Damon Minchella on bass : perfect !!
Yes and they were great considering they didn't get much time to rehearse with the band.
I bet Zak was gutted he missed it. Stuck with miserable old Oasis

Spectacular
Best performance of the whole show and half the audience had left already. What a stupid nation we are
The Who sempre será para mim, a melhor banda de todos os tempos, grande performance.
How many bands have like five songs on crime shows...Roger Daltrey still looks/sounds good..too bad Keith Moon isn't there killin' it on the drums
