I was 6 when I saw Top of the Pops and Keith bashing the hell out of his drum kit on "I Can See For Miles" No other drummer was like that-they just gently tapped the skins and cymbals a bit-but Keith Moon?!!? I'd bash the hell out of anything I could improvise as a drum kit-drove the parents mad !! And in later years I realised how extraordinary and ground breakingly excellent Keith Moon's drumming was on that track to name but one and how there is no comparison to it anywhere

It's only now -- and I've seen this video for years and even "The Kids are Alright" in the theater -- that I'm realizing that they filmed a performance specifically for this video. This wasn't them mimicking the words to the song, they performed this. So we got to see an actual performance of a Who song as if we're in the studio that day. And they did this back in 1978, before MTV really got going. What a wonderful gift, an original performance that will last nearly forever.

John Entwhistle was too busy holding the songs together with his wall of sound to be able to showboat, he was, in my opinion, a far greater loss to the group than Keith Moon was, and that says it all.

I love it! I know I’m probably repeating a few of the others but, this is amazing! So glad it was put together expertly. The band and their sound cannot be duplicated. Such a joy watching the snippets of each of them having fun, all while creating rock and roll magic! I too have watched it over and over. My wife said that song again? So I sat her down, told her the true story of how this autobiographical song came about, played the video, and now she’s a fan.

I'd not seen this video before. It left me filled with so many emotions, most of which are happiness and sorrow. Happiness to see these blokes doing what they loved and doing it so well, and sorrow, knowing that this is just a historical record of an era gone, never to return.
Thanks mates for some of the best music ever.

That says it. It's sad to think that when Rock started in the 50's with Elvis, Chuck,Buddy Holly and so forth the 60's guys Dylan,Stones,Beatles were able to go way beyond them lyrically, and musically, and The Stones hit their pinnacle with Gimme Shelter. there's no way they could top that song like The Who did with Won't Get Fooled Again it's as powerful as it can get, and this equals that, but there is nowhere to go but down. The Stones and Who did a lot of great stuff after those, but the days of topping what came before are long gone.
