How many roads did these boys pave for the musicians that followed? They paid it so far forward, that the musical debt to The Who, will never be repaid. Perfect legacy! Waste us baby!
I was there. And it was as good as it looks. Nigel Kennedy just looked like he was having a ball, amazing performance. I showed this to some friends on dvd and they got up cheered at the end.
I remember my Dad introducing this fine tune into my life many years ago and it still stands the rest of time. The best intro, bridge and outro to any song! It resonates and makes the hairs on my neck stand on end every time I hear it.
100 years from now they will still be genius and this will still be the greatest teenage angst anthem ! Lord almighty the Brits sure owned the world of my music for the better part of my life!
Bloody good! I had no idea how Zack was literally having to transpose Keith Bloody Moon and just note for note, every little off hit, still keeping a tight pocket for John... Bloody hell... Amazing!
4:35 eargasm when john plays that incredibly fast bass line that almost sounds like a piano thrill along with the violin doing the same thing. incredible musicianship
OK,@@davmil2002: I really loved how she played the violin almost note-for-note as it was originally recorded on the album. I absolutely dug the discipline in doing that. Not much creativity, but she nailed it. That being said - Kennedy's was epic. Almost maniacal as if Keith Moon was playing the instrument himself. Loved her's, Kennedy's was better. Thanks for the link, David!
"Easy to say it at the time and in the moment my master says. Wasn't it Jerry Garcia who was at a Cream concert and was asked if Cream was the best band he ever heard, to which he replied "Tonight They Are""
My entire childhood, my dad played this for my little brother and me constantly. By the time I was eight, I would yell out "Fuck off!" right with Pete Townshend. Thanks, Dad!
O que é isso mané ??? .... The Who !!! Rock Clássico . Nos vocais Roger Daltrey, o mesmo da Ópera Rock " Tommy " . E com a presença de outro Monstro da Guitarra Pete Townshend.
For those who may not be aware, that's Zac Starkey on drums - the son of the legendary Ringo Starr! As a child, Zac's first drum kit was a gift from his dad's good friend ... Bill Moon!
I've been obsessively listening to covers of Baba O'Riley and now that I've heard this version, I have to say that it took an older Who to come close to the performance by the younger Who.
Glad you came around...."welcome to the camp, I guess you all know why we're here....." My fav is the live version of "Water", but this is a timeless classic for sure.
This song is an anthem, a hymn to a generation that deserved to be criticized for pursuing false ideologies, the who wrote one of the greatest songs ever. God bless The Who
man so many people say that the who are too old to play this song, but the're not. it shows that they understand what we go thru and that because the have gotten older it doesn't mean that they can't except us to do what they once did
Awesome as always!!! The violinist tore it up and gave Pete a good run for his money. Awesome!!!! One of the best songs ever!!!
Roger Daltrey looks DAMN GOOD for being 56 years old in 2000~ man o man. woooeeee. oldies but goodies.
He looks pretty damn good for 80 years old now days.
"I hope I die before I get old" - He's alive, so he can't be old!
Seeing John Entwhistle here just breaks my heart. RIP Moose.
They called him The Ox, not Moose.
@@bobsmith6543 Yes sir. You are correct. My mistake.
why, did you know him?
How many roads did these boys pave for the musicians that followed? They paid it so far forward, that the musical debt to The Who, will never be repaid. Perfect legacy! Waste us baby!
As fucking incredible as Entwhistle is, he never ever hogs the spotlight he so readily deserves
He’s too cool for spotlights 🎸

Unless there's another live performance with the violin/viola (and I'm sure there has to be):

The sound mix guy was a Who fan...obviously
Kudos to him.
This is insanely AWESOME!
if you are of a certain age there will never be a better band.
"Easy to say it at the time and in the moment my master says. Wasn't it Jerry Garcia who was at a Cream concert and was asked if Cream was the best band he ever heard, to which he replied "Tonight They Are""
The fact that Pete Townsend just went "fuck it - we'll end it with a fiddle solo" just proves that this is the greatest rock song ever written.
Sensacional
best band ever and maybe the best tune ever , oh yes . its only teenage , nigel wow
my dad used to play this for me and my brother when we were younger. thanks dad, for instilling in me great musical taste :)
Miss you, thunder-fingers.
One of the greatest classic rock songs ever written. This is in my top three of all time great songs.
I think they sound better here then in concert s of the past! thank you so much!
One of the best "endings" of any tune ever performed...perfectly timed...with help from Zack and his excellent percussion work.
50 years on,same energy levels,throughout!
Possibly the greatest rock & roll song of all time.....certainly the most musical,
If that is not the wildest violin solo ever in a rock song I dont know what is
I was waiting for that violin to catch fire!
My entire childhood, my dad played this for my little brother and me constantly. By the time I was eight, I would yell out "Fuck off!" right with Pete Townshend. Thanks, Dad!
Violin in flames!!! WTF!!! ;)
That is so so incredibly awesome!! Wow. The Who are Titans of Rock!
Why isn't this British crowd going nuts?
I would have been going crazy during this tune!

There's only two things in the world that will diversify the planet, its great performances like this and good food cuisine.
The best rendition of Baba O'Reily? If not the best version, this one's in the top 5 at the very least.....pure electric magic!
