    - Please no hints, tips, or game info in the comments - I'm still working on this game on stream!
    - I'm playing Freedom mode.
    - I'm using a controller, forgive the wobbles.

I don't have any issues with Freedom mode but I will say that I think Subnautica does survival pretty well. It's less about a 'challenge' to find and make food and feels more like it was added to the gameplay loop to flesh out the activities that you're doing and give you a variety of things to do.

Omg.. 27 videos to finally find a player that actually reads the databank, so has a clue what to do to start out a game. ❤and for fun... that is 11.4 YEARS till rescue😂

I didn't play on Freedom mode myself, I feel like it takes away a bit of immersion and interaction with the many creatures and plants if they no longer provide you stuff you need to survive. But I can see why freedom mode is the right fit for you since a hunger meter is essentially a timer and you're doing a lot of reading and chat interaction. Also you get immersed in the games you play so much more than I do, hunger meter or no. So I'll be happy to enjoy the playthrough, I found your channel via the outer wilds playthrough and I watched it all the way to the end. Hoping for another great journey in this one! Glad you decided to play it.

Yes! I've been so excited to finally see these! Freedom mode is fine; I totally understand why folk would prefer to play these kinds of games without the tedium of managing hunger and thirst meters. I personally like that stuff, but it's easy to get why people would hate it, which is why I like that Subnautica gives you the option to turn those off.

Thank you! Yes, I was so excited to see that option even existed 😊

Also, just to add to how you mentioned that you'd be the kind of player to just focus on base building and putting the scary stuff off; I actually haven't beaten this game yet because some parts of it scare me too much, and I've been mostly just building cool bases, so I am totally here for an indefinite base building/decorating Subnautica playthrough, cause that's essentially what I'm doing.

I did freedom mode as a second play through, the essence of the game was lost to me.

Poor choice going freedom mode IMO... The food/drink burden is very low and primarily there to force you to explore. Hope you enjoyed the rest :)

    Freedom Mode? Really?
Hunger and thirst is not really an issue in Subnautica anyways - it's not a threat unless you play Hardcore and completely and willingly neglect the mechanic.

Freedom mode was 100% the right choice for me & I’m having a blast! I’m glad this game offers multiple options, so we can pick whatever best suits our playstyle!

I've seen so much acceptance of Freedom Mode on the Subnautica reddit that I was genuinely a bit surprised to see this comment lmao. I feel like if a player goes "oh wow I love this, I'm gonna do it" we can assume they made the right choice for them.
All Survival Mode did for me was make the first hour REALLY BUSY. After that it just meant that every trip had a "Ok have I made a pack lunch" moment, which was admittedly charming in retrospect but not that interesting.

subnautica in freedom mode is like watching a video without sound. you are missing much. why not play in godmode, or without enemies? Playing a survival game, but turning the survival elements off...

@@svenvandevelde1 May I ask, do you mean video games in general or just survival games. What's your angle here? Because in my mind, what is a "stupid game" is very subjective, isn't it? So if someone enjoys playing games that you consider to be stupid, are they to be considered stupid too? 💭
