- Subnautica is an underwater adventure game set on an alien ocean planet. A massive, open world full of wonder and peril!
You have crash-landed on an alien ocean world, and the only way to go is down. Subnautica's oceans range from sun drenched shallow coral reefs to treacherous deep-sea trenches, lava fields, and bio-luminescent underwater rivers. Manage your oxygen supply as you explore kelp forests, plateaus, reefs, and winding cave systems. The water teems with life: Some of it helpful, much of it harmful.

Thank you so much for watching!
My first time playing Subnautica! [1]
#subnautica
Not her swimming straight to the aurora at NIGHT TIME, no nothing on her inventory omg i admire the willingness. I love watching people experience Subnautica for the first time
Wow, someone who actually followed the PDA and consulted the Databank for survival advice! That's so much better than stumbling around mindlessly for endless hours! Some people I think are worried about creating "interesting content," and so they don't want to read on camera, but honestly there are so many useful tips and clues in the databank, along with a lot of stuff that's just "flavor" and doesn't directly help you play the game, but fills out the lore of the setting.
I honestly think Databank helps not to feel so overwhelmed with everything this game offers especially in the beginning!
@@MentalEiva It really does throw you into the "deep end," so to speak, with no tutorial section like many other games have. I think that's one reason youtube playthroughs of it are popular; it's fun to see all the different ways people adapt to learning the basic game mechanics and how to just stay alive in the beginning. Of course this game has a LOT more to offer as it goes on! And I personally like the sequel Below Zero just as much, if not better! Happy gaming.
Here. Here. Watching someone stumble around lost can be frustrating for viewers. I would much rather watch someone read the getting started info because, 1, everyone, including viewers not familiar with the game will know what is going on, and 2, it takes less time than going around in circles aimlessly, waiting for luck or divine revelation to see you through.
and some are just funny, funny
@@MentalEiva A LOT of people completely miss things they are supposed to know because it's explained or hinted at in the databanks, so you are already above average.
A youtuber who actually pays attention to the information the game gives them doing a blind playthrough of my 2 favorite games? I feel like I just hit the youtube jackpot!
thank you for the kind words✨
I was gonna say! And immediately realizing that she probably should explore during daytime and leave reading/inventoring/fabricating for nighttime. People read cave sulfur and explore zero caves. And then they wonder where the hell cave sulfur is hiding... great first episode, I must say!
and what is your other favorite game? :P
I've noticed that you like to read stuff (what is very handy here), so i suggest in Option menu in Accessibility part, to use "PDA pause". Then when you open your PDA, your food and water doesn't go down so you can read everything with ease. Glad you enjoy this game, its one of best survival game ever made :)
There is an icon on bottom right of the screen when you can scan something.
oohhh, thank you so much for the tips, that’s so handy✨🫶🏻
Whhhat?! This is great information!!! Thnx
Very handy indeed! I always wait till I’m back at my base for reading (near my food supply) 😅
Optionally, if you build a habitat and a chair of some sort within it, your food and drink meters will not go down while sitting. That's how I did it before the Pause While Open option was there.
Best advice. It also pauses whenever you are sorting your inventory in lockers.
you've prob got like a million comments about this already but uncut subnautica gameplay where u ACTUALLY USE the databank and stuff and actually think about what you are doing is so much better then just wandering around aimlessly like most other content creators do. subbed
thank you! Hope you’ll enjoy the rest of the playthrough✨
Out of all of the playthroughs of this game that I have watched, you are the first person I have ever seen routinely swap their empty tank for a hot spare. I did not know that is a thing. Very clever.
You also did not fill your inventory completely full of acid mushrooms first thing upon entering the water. You rebel.
haha thank you😅
@@MentalEiva To expand on that, once you get the materials to build a bunch of high capacity tanks, you can half fill your inventory with them and do some extended dives while exploring the deep.
Few people know this, but in a pinch you can use bladderfish as an emergency oxygen supply. Yes consuming them raw increases your oxygen by a small amount! Plus they only take up 1x1 inventory space and in the early game chances are you're already carrying a few of them...
@@sl9sl9 Damn, that’s so cool!
The floating device can travel 215m straight up in about 10 seconds. Or replenish 15 seconds worth of O2. Each take 1 slot in the inventory. So 6 (minimum O2 tank space) is worth 90 seconds. Extra O2 tanks slow you down (not on a seaglide though). A lot of early tools seem to be unpopular, but they are actually really good. I just beaten the game on hardcore without using any vehicle (only seaglide). Vehicles are expensive to build and upgrade (loads of titanium), while you can go 2000m deep with just a rebreather (coral brain ftw).
Best game of all time. Only game I wish I could play again for the first time
yes same
i agree great game
I've been following since like 2016-ish. I watched things develop and that was so cool but I envy people who get to experience the whole thing first time
I share the feeling, i try and pretend im a noob as i replay it.
But it will never be the same as not knowing!!!!
Cant wait for Subnautica 2
Most Subnautica playthroughs don't bother to read the PDA, and instead rely on trial-and-error or advice from chat (if streaming). You on the other hand are playing intelligently, which is much more enjoyable to watch. Subscribed.
thank you!
8:56 - 'Everyones dead?'
They're all dead. Everybody's dead, Dave
Peterson isn't, is he?
Everybody's dead, Dave
Not Chen!
Yes, Chen. Everyone. Everybody's dead, Dave!
Rimmer?
He's dead, Dave. Everybody is dead. Everybody is dead, Dave.
Wait. Are you trying to tell me everybody's dead?
Only 20 minutes in and I know I'm going to like your playthrough. I really appreciate your attention to detail and, y'know, actually READING! Thank you so much for being awesome :)
Thank you for watching✨
55:54 This part was great. The genuine concern of whether you should take cover, and then the bright light on your face as the ship explodes. Great stuff
This is the first video I've seen where someone actually looks at the Databank and I am so very grateful 🙏🙏
Every time you say "Cool, cool, cool" I can only hear Jake Peralta from Brooklyn 99🤣🤣😂!! In less than 10 minutes of video I already loved your gameplay and I'm looking forward to seeing the other parts and Below Zero in the future!!
Yay, thank you so much✨😅
been going on a huge subnautica kick lately and have just never gotten tired of how beautiful the world is and how immersive the story is.
so stoked to see how you fare :)
Wow, you remind me of myself when i started playing, wanting to go to the aurora at the start, reading everything in the pda, not knowing how to get anything. I really enjoyed watching this, can't wait to watch the rest!
Thank you! I hope the other episodes will be interesting too✨
@@MentalEiva I'm loving it all, it even made me create a new world to start again
my second favorite game, it's really awesome and will always be one of my favorites, no matter what happens.
By far the best blind playthrough imo. I really like your playstyle, reminds me of myself. Very attentive to details, takes your time to read stuff and learn. Plus you don't scream trying to be "funny". Subscribed! Now im gonna grab some coffee to continue watching your playthrough 😊
thank you for the kindness✨
I'm loving this playthrough already. You read the PDA and don't overedit the video. You have good reactions too.
Thank you so much! I do edit a bit more in the further episodes, there’s a lot of very « quite » time while I get from point a to b or feed the character. Hopefully it’s still going to be interesting to watch:)
This game really takes me back. I remember the days of 2015 when this game was new. Very nostalgic for me.
what a great feeling! I missed out on it at the time now trying to catch up:)
Just gonna echo what others are saying: finally someone who actually makes use of the PDA and takes a more scientific approach to learning about the game instead of fumbling around endlessly like so many others, lol.
13 minutes in and you confidently start swimming towards the Aurora 🤣I like this playthrough already
I love how everybody's just having so much fun in the game the first minutes until they understand how deep the story is and get trapped trying to solve every mystery x)
Yesss, 11 episodes in and I’m so hyped to learn more! Truly fascinating game:)
One of the smartest starts I've seen and I've watched dozens of plays. Nice work!
wow, thank you!
I subscribed because the pure joy from a pure blind playthrough is super wholesome and I love it
thank you✨
I really enjoyed watching your video! I first played Subnautica shortly after it released years ago. I recently got back into it, so your video came along at a great time! Keep going, the game is really great and it's very fun watching you play.
thank you so much for the kind words❤️
I always get a kick out of the fact that no players ever realize that that the first message sent/received is just going to the ship that they crashed in. 🤣
didn't think of that but that makes sense!
The basic rule of Subnautica: Scan everything, read everything.
34:07 Which is realistic by the way. Dying from thirst happens a lot quicker than starving.
55_08 Don't you dare eat Hoverfish! They are way too cute for that!
trying my best to scan and read!
Yes, never eat Hoverfish
@@UnomagKatzenfr, i have them in the alien glass room thingy and i never eat them only the other fish
Also started the game recently, I don't know why but I got immersed in the base-making system. It's quite fun..
same! I’ve been prepping to film episode 7 and got into building more stuff:)
awesome! good luck in your adventure
@prdiptyak when this game came out in 2018 in early access, it was the main part of the game, i spent hours build massive bases, but if you saved and came back, all the parts were all over the place (even spread out in the sky), it was wild, but so fun, some of the things that the developers have done annoyed me SO much...
I absolutely love this game, and I look forward to watching your experience with it! I have big time thalassaphobia, so it is super spooky for me, but soooo beautiful and immersive.
Thank you so much! I hope you’ll enjoy it:)
🥹 one of my favorite games of all time in the year 2024 with all the best quality of life updates, and someone is experiencing it blind *and pays attention to the databank*?!
I’m not crying, you’re crying! 😂😭
just stumbled over your play trough. You're doing great. finally someone who reads, thinks about stuff and uses the pda 👍 eager to continue your experience
thank you💫
Wonderful to watch someones first dive into this world 😊
Sometimes I wish I could erase that memory and start over.
thank you💫
If you live long enough, you'll get dementia, just remember to make a post it about subnautica then.
Awesome video game play through keep up the good work!
thank you sm!:)
@@MentalEiva Your Welcome!
This was actually a nice first-time video to watch. I'm on my 3.rd playthrough. Good luck :)
Thank you✨
55:33 that was such a perfect reaction to the explosion!
Love this gameplay, new subscriber!
How pleasant to see you follow the PDA advice and check the knowledge base information and examine lifepod equipment first, instead of jumping into the water without any prior thought. That's a much smarter approach than the typical "hop in and grab every acid mushroom within reach" routine. 👍
This will one of the greatest survival games ever. I’m might be over exaggerating but you will definitely enjoy it a lot
@@martyb4190 I’m already enjoying it a lot, can’t believe it took me so long to finally play it!
heyy, this is my favourite game, i am on your channel for the first time but really excited for these vids
great, hope you’ll enjoy the playthrough!
Just subscribed hope you enjoy your playthrough it's definitely one of my favorite games of all time😊
thank you sm! I’m having a great time in this game✨
Hello Ms Eiva 😊 I hope you're well. Subs a great game. Let's see how deep you'll dive, things get big and scary there. 😉
Hey, Kantor! Thank you, I’m enjoying the game so far😅
Hope you’re doing well!
1:08:13 lol she thinks the Stalker fish are the "big ones"!
First time seeing Eiva and I like her style, such as she didn't skip reading necessary info in the PDA.
It's funny watching someone else play and I'm going crazy when she doesn't notice something that to me seems obvious, like the spinning circle and symbol showing that something can be scanned. OTOH, in spite of many hours in game I never noticed recipes could be pinned on screen so I wonder in what ways I'd drive other people nuts if they watched me play.
0:08 - *“I'm excited, 'cause I love everything ocean-themed.”*
Let's hope that love survives. 'Cause this is the game where ocean-lovers come to gain a fear of water, and where thalassophobes come to become _completely catatonic._ 😉
Nah, I'm just kidding. While it _can_ be scary, it's reputation is a bit overblown. The reputation for scariness, that is - the reputation for being fun, pretty, and awesome is well-earned.
15:04 - *“Damn, that's so deep!“*
…she says, while paddling in the "Safe Shallows". If you keep playing, you'll look back on this exclamation and see how hilarious it really is. 😁
24:44 - *“ **_‘Old_** Cooked Boomerang’ Is it gonna be… Is it gonna spoil after some time?”*
No, it spoils after _no time at all!_ As you've no doubt found out by now.
27:09 - *“We need cave sulphur. Cave. Must be somewhere in caves.”*
This is usually a sticking point for new players, who take a long time before they find any - although you _have_ already read one of the often missed hints earlier, namely that it can be found inside certain flowers.
58:32 - *“I'm quite scared to go there, because there were some huge, huge dudes, and they looked aggressive.”*
This is another one of those statements that will be absolutely _hilarious_ in hindsight.
59:23 - _"Oxygen."_ - *“Ah. Hold on. Oh no!”*
I cannot tell you how many times I died in this game, when I went to switch to my secondary air tank, only to find that I had forgotten to recharge it, last time. 😆
You're lucky that you were within a few seconds of the surface, when it happened.
haha I kind of already see how funny these are now! And omg thank you for saying that you also used a secondary tank, got some comment recently that made me feel like I’m a complete dumbo for doing that😂
@@MentalEiva As the diving time per tank gets increasingly longer, the tank size in the inventory grid gets larger, and oxygen is more easily replenished at the Seamoth or Prawn suit, the trade-off between inventory space and dive time becomes increasingly weighted against a double tank strategy in the late game.
But in the early to mid-game, I _definitely_ always go with two tanks, exactly the same way you do.
You HAVE to go to The back of The Aurora or The Dunes...
I put this video full screen at the beginning, then my brain went on autopilot and I clicked the "play" button.
omg hahaha!
Played this when it was in early access back in 2018, the bugs were wild back then, got to see things that didn't go into the game, wish it didn't go woke.
Just enjoy yourself, have fun, this is an amazing game.
must be really weird to see the differences in games from early access to full release!
YESSSSSS! Girl! You are literally hitting me with all my favorite LP games! I'm so excited to watch this series and I hope you enjoy this amazing game!
yassss, I’m happy! The game is amazing so far, hope you’ll enjoy the playthrough🫶🏻✨
@@MentalEiva Yay! I'm glad you're enjoying it! Beware the spoilers and back seaters in the comments. Love this community, but they are notorious for backseating hard! Can't wait for more episode! ❤
Switching tank so cool, thanks for the idea 😂❤
i wanna nerd out on your stream! wait till you find a time capsule!
A time capsule?? Damn, well I don’t stream yet but hopefully at some point in the future:)
Planet 4546B....I played this game a lot! Even completed Hardcore on my second Hardcore run. Had PTSD after a Warper Grabbed me in the first Run. xD
Omg, that sounds terrifying, props to you for completing it on hard!
This was a fun watch, i remember playing this game when i was still in school 😞
thank you, hope it was a good kind of nostalgia🫶🏻
Thank god someone is completing the game ❤
Glad I found your content! Fresh and does not start with "I have thalassophobia".
thanks✨
When at the fabricator, hold SHIFT before clicking to make something and the recipe screen doesn't go away. This is helpful when you want to craft several of something quickly.
Oh wow, thanks a lot! I’ll try it next time:)
I can't believe you got that close to the Aurora ship early on without anything💀
Thank goodness that thing was not there at the time
People have warned me not to go there, so now I’m worried😂
Might be too late, but there's a reason lol@MentalEiva
Maybe you're already aware but my one and only beginner tip for Subnautica is that you swim a little bit faster if you have both hands free (press the button for the currently equipped item again).
Other than that, well done so far! Refreshing to see an experienced gamer tackle this game. The others I've watched have either been bery new to gaming or had severe thalassophobia. Brutal to watch either way 😅😬
Thank you so much! I’m using a sea glide at this point which is faster, but that’s such a cool tip✨
Hey there, new sub and really enjoying your play through so far. Just wanted to let you know your last few playlists are in reverse order so might want to look into that. I know that's a simple oversight so just making you aware of it. Looking forward for the rest of the play through!
OMG, thank you for telling me that, someone told me about Subnautica’s playthrough, I thought it was just a bug because it’s still ongoing..I’ll look into that!
Edit: fixed it (hopefully):)
@@MentalEiva Looks good! 4&5 are flipped but everything else is great. Thanks!
"I'm murdering endless fish to get water, but why would I want a different source of water?" lol
I've never seen anybody use the alternate water source on their first episode, but I've also never seen anybody go back to bladderfish once they finally try it.
my lil brain didn’t process the information quickly enough and I’ll use the bladderfish for the next 6 episodes…
I would love to be able to play Subnautica blind again. For my money the best original IP of 21st century video-games.
LOVEEE SUBNAUTICA!!
love this game
The very first thing the PDA does is corporate liability mitigation…
Head trauma is still considered an optimal outcome………
Never seen someone carry an extra tank in their inventory that’s wild 😂
that was very helpful in the beginning though😂
@@MentalEiva I’m too much of an inventory hoe to take up that space 💅🏻
thought that early trip to the aurora would end in a reaper attack
So after you're done enjoying subnautica, below zero(the second game), their memes, spoilers for the third game, etc you should try out this survival game called pacific drive which gives subnautica like vibes (atleast I and a few others got that)
Thanks, I’ll put it in my list✨
Amazing content! Eager to watch you pay on and will probably start a new savegame after not paying for a while
thank you🥹
The first time I played this game there was a known bug that reapers would spawn in the safe shallows. I was swimming in the shallows and everything went dark and I thought I was in the shadow of reaper. It was only an eclipse.
Jeez, that’s terrifying!!
This is gonna be fun watching someone else play! Good luck lol :)
thank you!:)
They really need to make these escape pods non-flammable.
non high end mics hit different lol. idk why but its very soothing. 😂
Hi I just found you and from reading comments sounds like you’re my exact play style and watch style! Have you thought about playing grounded not sure if you’ve already discussed that or not!
Oh I haven’t heard of Grounded tbh, I’ll add it to my list of games maybe I’ll get to it at some point. Thank you for recommendation!
At the beginning I always let the fire burn a bit so I can listen to the killer soundtrack LOL
You actually took the time to read and follow PDA advice.🙂
Cant wait for sub2 with UE5 need to relive this!
It’s going to be amazing!
This woman is actually a pretty fun UA-camr.
someone who actually has a better iq lvl than a goldfish and plays subnoutica well, you earned a sub.
jokes aside, your gameplay's really good even for a beginner though.
nice
IM CURRENTLY DOING MY OWN SECOND PLAYTHROUGHHH AHHHHHH I LOVE SUBNAUTICA 🥺

love subnautica first time players subscribe !
thanks, welcome to the channel:)
Are you using a mod for the pinned recipes? Because that’s not a subnautica feature. It’s a subnautica below zero feature.
Edit: are you using nexusmod blueprint tracker?
I don’t use any mods no, I’m playing just a steam version of Subnautica. Maybe they added it recently then?
@@MentalEiva weird. I was on just yesterday and I wasn’t able to. Maybe I did it wrong. I’ll try again. Are you left, right or middle clicking the blueprint to get the pinned recipe?
@@MentalEiva Wait. It turns out that I wasn't using experimental mode which allowed me to pin recipes plus other stuff. It's all good now. I love watching people play this game for the first time. Subnautica was the first game I ever bought (back in August 2015).
It is amazing in vr.
And probably terrifying as well😅
subnautica😍😍
Still stuck in the "What R THIS?!" stage of playing, she'll transition quick to the next stage, saying "I can do this" 50 times & "I CAN'T DO THIS" quite a few, before getting on with it.....heh.
11:15 You are in fact holding your breath, many people have a miss conception at first that they have a tank on at first but there is no tank in the slot where you would have one, it's just your character holding their breath underwater as we would do.
yeah, I only realised it later on when I started switching the tanks:)
@@MentalEiva Dang didn't expect such a quick reply, also I love your playthrough btw, it's incredibly well played and intelligent, most people don't read the Databank or PDA, so they get lost in the game early on because the game doesn't hold your hand or give you directions, it literally throws you in the deep end and makes you learn how to swim through it all literally. Which I love honestly, it's a real full survival style experience. The PDA truly helps feed you hints and clues of information to guide you through things you wouldn't realize at first, so it's HIGHLY recommended to read it all, no matter how "boring" it might seem to you or viewers which btw we love seeing you read, the reactions and us learning through the process together is a lot better than watching someone fool about with no idea of what they are doing. Keep it up, I have watched thousands of playthroughs of Subnautica, yours by far has been THE most pleasant early game watch yet.
@@leofhr2966 oh that’s so kind, thank you so much✨
Fun to watch you figure things out. Lead is pronounced Led. It's an element on periodic table.
Playing this in PCVR, it's amazing ! 🤩
Such a great start to your Subnautica adventure! Too bad that the backseaters are doing their utmost to spoil things for you and/or to make you play the game how they think is best. It gets worse with every additional episode going online, and that annoys me so much.
Thank you so much! Yeah, that’s actually the first time ever I see a lot of that in comments and it’s kinda upsetting but at the same time there’re a lot of wonderful people who give valuable tips and tricks, so I guess it’s good after all😅
@@MentalEiva I guess it depends on your definition of "good". 😉 You are obviously more than smart enough to figure things out, especially in a climate of not getting rushed by others. Will you figure every little detail of Subnautica out during your first playthrough? Obviously not, I don't think anybody does. Is that a problem, or does it prevent you from having a good time? Not at all. Your game, your rules.
By the way, it also pains me that you think it necessary to apologise for moments in which you simply enjoy certain aspects of the game, like following an interesting fish or appreciating an island vista or sunset. Is that for fear of not "progressing" fast enough to satisfy commenters? Overall, I think you may be better off not reading comments until you finish Subnautica, if only because of the constant flow of spoilers. And yeah, I realise the irony of me writing this statement in the form of a comment.
Fair warning: the dlc/addon 'sub-zero' is a nice addon to the story, bit underwhelming in comparison to the base game, imho.
miss the "oxygen"s😍
yesss✨
I don't think your repair gun is going to get the Aurora flying again. 😢
damn, what a bummer!

You've picked a fantastic game but be warned all's not plane sailing>
How are you not Famous ؟
ah stop it😅❤️
10:49 ....... something ....... 😖😖
yeah its beautiful but dnt be fooled, this is actually a horror game. . . kinda,,
Yep, 6 episodes in I got a little scares here and there😂
No, it is _not_ a horror game. It's an _adventure_ game. And sometimes adventures are scary. Sometimes _really_ scary. Now and then, downright terrifying. That's just the nature of adventure.
You know the definition of adventure, don't you? Someone else having a really bad time. Lucky you, you're playing game as "Someone Else."
