I spent over 115 hours in gameplay time for this series, 6 months of dropping weekly videos. I really tried to see everything, understand the story, eventually read all the pda entries, and even got creative with fun shenanigans. I completely fell in love with 4546B! The creatures, the terrors, the beauty. There is so much growth throughout this series. This wasn't just my first Subnautica but my first Survival game ever so thank you for being patient with me through my struggles. This has become one of my favorite games of all time and I'm so happy to have recorded my journey. A heads up, we have officially started Below Zero and it has been a joy to experience so far! Subnautica is seriously my favorite game of all time. The game design is clever, the story is fun, the graphics are beautiful. There is so much to love! Alas, I can never go back to that first time I played and the feelings of wonder, excitement and terror. So finding a new truly blind playthrough is a wonderful gift. Take your time and enjoy this amazing world 4546B. One of the things I love about this game is that as soon as you get used to one amazing thing, you encounter an entirely new amazing thing. Beginning to end, it never gets boring.

This game is nothing short of absolutely amazing. I travel from one blind playthrough to the next, to see others experience and with a high probability, fall in love with it. And slowly but surely find out and uncover why Subnautica is something pretty special, for themselves. It's one of my all-time favourites for very good reasons. So many many questions were raised. So many "Wtf is that?" and "Are you serious?", were uttered. And so many expectations were subverted. I did not think I would get to expereince that child-like wonder, awe and curiousity games once brought again. Yet Subnautica gave me all that - and more. Have fun!

Nice start, Dream! Subnautica gets a bit overwhelming during this early stage where you must figure out the basic mechanics etc., but you'll catch on pretty quick, don't worry. The only downside for me is that I'll have to watch you play this game one chapter at a time, unlike Ryan, as his playthrough was already completed when I found him, so I could binge it like crazy. But hey, at least there'll be a little fun each day for quite some time! Can't wait to watch you dive deeper into this game, pun intended! Have fun!!!

Knew nothing about Subnautica but I have an insane level of Thalasophobia. Friend dared me to play it and I played on survival got to the mushrooms and decided I'd only play on creative from them.
Just started watchin' this grind. You are popping off in the game! I died multiple times from oxygen and dehydration before figuring out how to get water 😅

I played Survival the first time, but played Freedom mode on future plays, because of how easy it is to get planted food/water sources after figuring it out, bulbo, lantern, bulb bush, marblemelon, etc.
New fan here, loving the show.. Hope you keep this kind of gameplay uploaded. Subnautica below zerow perhaps or maybe other surviver, survivor/horror or horror experiances.

KB mouse for sure. you'll get used to it. WASD and mouse /spacebar is about it and the numbers or mousewheel for the toolbar. you'll pick up on it and the aiming is much better with a mouse.
Hey Dream, I know that I am commenting around a year too late and that you will probably never read this but I would like to say I love all your videos, I was introduced to your cannel while I was looking for Hollow Knight play throughs and basically found yours by accident. I had your video on in an extra tab while I was watching other play throughs, but as soon as I started watching your video I immediately loved it. You just have a way of bringing so much life to your play throughs. I then saw that you also played Subnautica and Portal 2, this makes it 3 for 3 on the list of my favorite games of all time. Again, your videos are amazing and I look forward to watching them several times and not being bored.
For me I played on survival for the first play through and then after i completed it i went back in creative so i could fully explore the underwater world, and then every so often i will go back and play seriously on hard core.
I strongly recommend using mouse & keyboard, not a controller. Navigating in a 3D environment is WAY better with mouse & keyboard precision. You swim faster with empty hands btw.
Bit late but totally agree. The freedom of vision a mouse controlled camera gives you is essential in this game. I've seen so many playthroughs of this game with people playing with a controller, and missing so many clues and obvious things because of the janky, jerking camera movement a controller restricts you to. Why anyone would prefer to play any game with a controller is beyond me. It's no accident they had to add things like auto aim, and auto camera to games like GTA. Controllers are just so insanely imprecise they're useless without in game help or years of training. Any 3D open world game with any sort of complexity requires mouse and keyboard. Controllers were designed for 2D platformers, or very linear 3D games.
I hate that I didn't appreciate the graphics of this game when I started. I dont play PC games so I didn't even think about it. It really is a beautiful game.

I've had the same problem with the triggers not matching for as long as i can remember. All i had to do is swap the tiggers in the controller layout in game.
The left and right triggers being reversed seems to be a common issue when playing this on PC with certain Xbox controllers, I've seen some Twitch streamers run into that too.
I eventually move to mouse and keyboard in this series xD for Below Zero I'm starting with mouse and keyboard right away. Thanks for checking out this playthrough!
I've played this more than once to the very end and I always use controller. You just can't drive the seamoth the same way with a mouse and keyboard. The game is way less fun for me without a controller. I respect your preference without being offensive about it. Please do the same for me. When you grow up you'll learn that your opinions are not to be assumed to apply Universally.

@@Dreamality I replied to this one because I thought this was a brand new posting, not one that already had new episodes! What I was talking about was tips like swimming with things in your hands is slower, and you can use empty batteries to craft things.
You found the fabricator, you figured out how to make water, and you didn't stand in one place complaining that you don't know what to do, so this playthrough is off to a pretty fortuitous start. My only complaint is that you sound too apologetic about not knowing everything, already. However, your effort to try things and figure things out despite that apparent lack of confidence is what this game is about and I look forward to seeing how things came together for you as you got deeper in (pun fully intended).

I remember starting on hardcore and failing almost instantly due to oxygen. I was in a cave, 100% confident I knew where I was going, and went in the wrong direction. 💀

Knew nothing about Subnautica but I have an insane level of Thalasophobia. Friend dared me to play it and I played on survival got to the mushrooms and decided I'd only play on creative from them.

I played Survival the first time, but played Freedom mode on future plays, because of how easy it is to get planted food/water sources after figuring it out, bulbo, lantern, bulb bush, marblemelon, etc.
New fan here, loving the show..

KB mouse for sure. you'll get used to it. WASD and mouse /spacebar is about it and the numbers or mousewheel for the toolbar. you'll pick up on it and the aiming is much better with a mouse.
Hey Dream, I know that I am commenting around a year too late and that you will probably never read this but I would like to say I love all your videos, I was introduced to your cannel while I was looking for Hollow Knight play throughs and basically found yours by accident. I had your video on in an extra tab while I was watching other play throughs, but as soon as I started watching your video I immediately loved it. You just have a way of bringing so much life to your play throughs. I then saw that you also played Subnautica and Portal 2, this makes it 3 for 3 on the list of my favorite games of all time. Again, your videos are amazing and I look forward to watching them several times and not being bored.

For me I played on survival for the first play through and then after i completed it i went back in creative so i could fully explore the underwater world, and then every so often i will go back and play seriously on hard core.

I strongly recommend using mouse & keyboard, not a controller. Navigating in a 3D environment is WAY better with mouse & keyboard precision.

Bit late but totally agree. The freedom of vision a mouse controlled camera gives you is essential in this game. I've seen so many playthroughs of this game with people playing with a controller, and missing so many clues and obvious things because of the janky, jerking camera movement a controller restricts you to.
Why anyone would prefer to play any game with a controller is beyond me. It's no accident they had to add things like auto aim, and auto camera to games like GTA. Controllers are just so insanely imprecise they're useless without in game help or years of training. Any 3D open world game with any sort of complexity requires mouse and keyboard. Controllers were designed for 2D platformers, or very linear 3D games.
I hate that I didn't appreciate the graphics of this game when I started. I dont play PC games so I didn't even think about it. It really is a beautiful game.

I started in freedom mode just too get the hang of it but when I restarted I went to survival. Water and food can get a bit repetitive.

I never used a controller to play on PC, but I think mouse + keyboard is a lot better. Mouse gives you more control with looking around.
I hurt my ears when I was a child and it prevents me from scuba diving unfortunately 😔😔 but maybe we snorkeling one day !??
I've had the same problem with the triggers not matching for as long as i can remember. All i had to do is swap the tiggers in the controller layout in game.

Survival, and boy if you are still playing it today you probably are gonna go through hell.
The left and right triggers being reversed seems to be a common issue when playing this on PC with certain Xbox controllers, I've seen some Twitch streamers run into that too.

I've played this more than once to the very end and I always use controller. You just can't drive the seamoth the same way with a mouse and keyboard. The game is way less fun for me without a controller. I respect your preference without being offensive about it. Please do the same for me. When you grow up you'll learn that your opinions are not to be assumed to apply Universally.

You found the fabricator, you figured out how to make water, and you didn't stand in one place complaining that you don't know what to do, so this playthrough is off to a pretty fortuitous start. My only complaint is that you sound too apologetic about not knowing everything, already. However, your effort to try things and figure things out despite that apparent lack of confidence is what this game is about and I look forward to seeing how things came together for you as you got deeper in (pun fully intended).
