Just picked one of these up used yesterday (natural finish). Only took me about 5 minutes of playing to decide I loved it. Glad I found this video, it’s the only one where I got to see how it responds to effects. You really are one hell of a player!
This bass is tragically under-represented on UA-cam. Thank you for such an exhaustive demo.
The world needs more purple basses, especially sparkly ones like this. Reverend! Why have you stopped making purple Triads?
This color!
Nice! Sort of reminds me of a Guild Starfire sort of sound.
Very cool review thanks. How does it sound with the pickups blended 75%/25%? I've not found that in any review.
I feel silly that I forgot to do that in a review where I complained about the lack of diversity in other reviews...
I enjoy using a quarter blend! When it's 75% neck/25% bridge, it's more like a p bass (almost invalidating my Reverend Sentinel tbh). The other way around, it tames the quack of the MM-style pickup, though this is much darker than a typical MM pickup so there's not a ton to begin with.
@@MrBrawl thanks that's really helpful
I’m thinking about getting one of those. Have you tried tape wounds on it? Thanks! 🎻🙂✌️😎
I did not try tapewounds while I had it - only rounds and flats. Neither type of string was particularly better than another; each string did their thing and were all good. My personal preferred set on here was the Thomastik Jazz Rounds.
@@MrBrawl I’m interested in how that brand sounds. Thanks! 😎
How does this feel ergonomically when sitting down? I'm really tempted in buying this or the Wattplower.
Both are balanced on the knee. The Dub King angles the neck up a little higher because of how large the body is. It lacks contours like the Wattplower has so the sharp edge of the side of the body can dig into your forearm if you like to rest it on the edge. Wattplower is much smaller so it's more comfortable to sit with imo. On a strap, entirely depends on how high or low you hang usually.
Thank you!
Will this bass do a Krist Novoselic Nirvana - Gibson bass vide?
It's not really designed with that in mind, but given its presence in punk music w/ the MusicMan-esque pickup in the bridge, I think it'll do just fine.
@@MrBrawl Thanks. Is there a better suited Reverend you would recommend?
@@michaelstewart2437 Probably the Triad or the Decision P, but those aren't short scale. The sound is more in the amp he used, not the bass. Get an SVT-style preamp.
@@MrBrawl Thank you. I did read a lot about the amp. I have a Kemper so I have the amp covered. I am okay with a 34” scale.
Do you use short scale strings? 😎
Only if I top loaded it. The string through load can take medium or long scale strings.
@@MrBrawl Thanks! I thought it might be like my Vintera reissue. 😎
I dig it - but they need to do a chunkier flake like a Marty Bell finish like this one: ua-cam.com/users/shortssO5GIf9eKbY
I love the dub king. I considered on back in 2012 and haven't played one since. Big pickup tone!
