Seriously considering selling two of my basses for one of these haha. I've got a Reverend Thundergun and it's been my absolute favorite bass I've ever played. They make some solid instruments! Also, better watch out for the strong guy behind you, don't want to get on his bad side.
Best demo of this bass! Question: Are the pickups with the middle position actually lower in volume than the bridge position or did you just record with lower volume? I'm astonished that the neck pickup is so much more quiet.. why doesn't Mike Watt just play softer if he want's to play more quiet? :D Also the strap lock position is a real bummer. But as you said, it's a signature bass. What I like the most are the 3 pickup configuration, but if it's not balanced, it's not for me.. :(
Thank you! I made no volume adjustments. The neck pickup is intentionally quieter per Watt's request. He wants to be able to play with the same aplomb but quieter for "more vocabulary".
Muy buen bajo amigo ....te digo yo usaría el bajo limpio sinbdrive para mostrarlo o con Reverb y lo modificaría y le pondría un eq de 3 bandas económicos funcionaria bien .....
Is the headstock a different color than the body? Every video and picture I see looks like the headstock is more green and the body is more brown? Great playing btw. You have impeccable technique in those right hand
I'm a simple is better kinda person, so I ended up owning a Wattplower MKI for a while. The different positions of the pickups weren't necessary for my style of playing - I don't need anything warmer than a P usually. The pros of the MKI also include weight - they're often under 7 lbs, as mine was. Otherwise, there aren't really cons of either aside from price I spose.
Generally a nice video. A couple points though. Some of the sound demos of the various pickups were a little long. Also, was more interested in the humbucker pickup; but, when you did the demo on that, everything was above the 12th fret, until you turned the tone all the way down and then you went below the 12tth fret. With the tone turned all the way down you could not get a good feel for the varied sounds of the humbucker. That being said, you seem like a sincere guy and I wish you well.
I appreciate the honest feedback. This was a very off-the-cuff, unscripted video just jamming on a cool bass, so I definitely didn't go into it with any sort of structured plan for the pickup combos (hence "One-shot Review"). I did add time demos to make navigation easy at least, but yeah, the demo sections could've been much more thought-out. Thanks for watching! Hope you get to play one as well.
The Root Beer Sparkle finish is not for me. I don't know why they seem to go for some odd color finishes. Then, don't know why they would put a silly name patch that is red, white and green on a dark finish bass. Looks way out of place. They are not for everybody. They seem well built, have Hipshot hardware on them; and, even something like the Puretone input jack is one that is much better than the standard input jacks on pretty much every other bass. I'll keep an eye out for their next batch, which might have a more favorable finish for me. One other thing. I went on the Reverend website to offer some suggestions and there was no contact info for them. No email address. No phone number. Nothing. Makes you wonder about an attitude problem over there. Like they don't want to hear from anyone on anything. With all that being said, good luck in future videos. I'll make a point to check out your channel for other videos.
Thank you! This is the only demo that actually gives me a real idea of the sound on this one. Thanks!
Great demo of this. Reverend should have it on their site.
Quality playing and review. And you have a fantastic voice for radio and broadcasting.
Finally someone playing Minutemen (other than Mike Watt) on this thing
Dude and his version of Amnesty Report?!!! SICK!
EXACTLY!
Love the sparkle finish.
Excellent demo. I want one.
Excellent bass playing!!! Best I've seen on UA-cam in ages.

Minutemen and Firehose are legendary. Listen to Watt’s newer stuff with MSSV. It’s so good.
Man, I LOVE your presentation style. Instant sub from me.
Awesome ! I'm sure it's Watt approved
That's a cool looking bass!
I'm getting one.

I want to get my hands on one of those. I hate that headstock though.
You'll be too busy playing it to look at the headstock.
@@MrBrawl Great point!
But in that price range, I’m thinking I can have my cake and eat it too. Performance AND aesthetics.
Joe McCarthy! Jore McCarthy! Joe McCarthy! Joe McCarthy! Joe McCarthy's GHOST!

Matching body and headstock. Thank you!!
With having played both (Wattplower I and II) do you have a preference? Or any Pros and Cons of both?

Check out fIREHOSE with Mike Watt! His best band.
