I really like my Hercules ratchet, good speed and power, good balance with the 4 amp battery and the trigger just feels good in the hand. The biggest plus? The price Also, the ratchet head is a good bit smaller and that can make a big difference
What made you go with the 3/4 over the 1/4? I'm just asking because I want one and am debating the drive size. It would also be for working on cars. BMW, Mazda, Toyota and Chevy
I dont like using 1/4" drives when it comes to power tools. I use a 1/4" hand ratchet, gives me better feel of what the bolt/nut is doing. You can always use a 3/8" to 1/4" reducer adapter too.
I just got one yesterday and i try to use to day to change my oil on my car and couldn't take the bolt off is was like not enough power , do i need a different battery with nore amps ?
I wouldnt use any electric tool on an oil drain plug. Thats my opinion. I never have in over 30 years. And no, thats probably not powerful enough to break a drain plug loose. Electric ratchets are only about 40 ft-lbs. Depending where the oil was changed last, I hardly doubt the drain plug was torqued to actual specs and was more than likely well overtorqued.
It annoys me that it takes 12v batteries. All of the other Hercules tools I have/want use 20v. I can only use one tool at a time, so if I have 3 or 4 Hercules tools, I would rather just have a couple batteries that I can swap out for the couple tools I want to be ready to use. $99-119 and then have to buy another batter that I can't use with another tool I already have is a hard sell when they have brushless impacts for $80 and even $50 on clearance.
I think its to keep the tool size small. I couldnt imagine trying to get it into spots with a bulky 20v. My 1/4" hex driver also uses the 12v. I have 2 - 12v and 4 - 20v. I do like that they all charge with the same charger though.
@jeanjacque1577 thats a bummer. I did a year review on all of mine and theyre all still doing great. Havent had any problems and I havent had to replace any batteries or the charger.
I’d just like to remind everyone who is upset with cordless ratchets not breaking higher torque bolts. These are designed for easy in and out, you will generally need to break the bolt loose if it is 40ft lbs or more first. Even with my snap on air ratchets I break them loose then hit them. They just don’t have enough guts to do it. However, my air power ratchets will break tougher bolts than my cordless it still isn’t a breakaway tool. I went from Milwaukee to Hercules impacts when Hercules 1/2 was the only one able to break away the bolts on one of my old trucks that were torqued to 550ft lbs. Hercules is a good value in my opinion.
Thanks for the info. Yea, most battery ratchets are only about 40ft-lbs. Ive seen people get them and expect them to break away lug nuts... lmao... aint gonna happen. Big difference between a ratchet wrench and an impact gun.
I'm laughing since I too have broke bolts with my High Speed Milwaukee 3/8 Ratchet 🤣 the worse one was a battery post It literally ripped the post off the battery while tightening down. I've learned my lesson after that so trigger control is a must. I'm thinking of picking this 3/8 since I do like the thin design, but now that Milwaukee is coming out with there HS Extended version here soon I might jump on that since I'm deep into the M12 Milwaukee battery platform. Although now watching you not worrying about snapping bolts I'm really thinking about just picking this one up. The HS doesn't have the torque, but the speed of the more than makes up for the lack of torque. You really have to be careful running bolts down since the speed can easily break a bolt when it hits bottom. Glad your impact is holding up, BTW did you ever try to warranty your Milwaukee midtorque?
@@MegaMilesBen LMAO!!!! Dang u better hurry up you can have a fresh Milwaukee as a back up. I've been on a warranty mission picking up deals on ebay and getting them repaired as long as they are within the 5 year warranty period so yup I'm a penny pincher HAHAHA. @@MegaMilesBen Oh Cool it did pretty good on Torque Test Channel. Keep in mind I'm in Southern Cali no crazy rust. 5 year warranty easy exchange at HF and cheaper batteries pretty dope. 19mm Honda lisle Socket for the win 🤣🤣🤣
I just bought a Hercules because guys on you tube really seem to like it. But I thought it was absolute garbage, zero torque. I thought it I could break some bolts free with it but guess not.its only good for running the bolts or nuts out if they're already loosened.
Im sorry to hear that. I love mine, its perfect for me as a mechanic. I been enjoying it over the last year+. Most electric ratchet wrenches are only about 40ft-lbs max torque. Maybe its just not right for your application?
@@MegaMilesBen I probably just need to learn how to use it and what its capabilities are. It was really nice when I got the bolts out that I needed after I broke them free with a normal ratchet in a space that only allowed about a 1/4 inch of side to side movement.
@@MegaMilesBen the spot where my bolts were didn't allow any movement at all hor the hurc to move side to side but just enough room for my box wrench if you know what I mean.
Thanks for pointing out about the lower torque not breaking bolts. Im in the market for this item and wanted all the specs to be the highest.

Bought one today. Use for my Harley.
I think you made a good choice!
Great video. Just what I was looking for
Im so happy with all the Hercules tools Ive gotten. I have a 2 and 1/2 year follow-up too. The link to my reviews is in the video description.
GET THE BRUSHLESS OF ALL THE HERCULES BRO YOU'LL BE FUCKING HAPPY ASF!!!!
they dont have brushless ratchet
Great review. Good tips to not break bolts. You should be sponsored by Hercules. Thank you.

wish it had the Magnetic tip, to avoid the nut or bolt possibly falling.
Magnetic sockets cover that.
more tools to buy lol@@MegaMilesBen
Couldn't I just use a milwaukee right angle drill with a 3/8 drive adapter and a 15mm socket if i had too?
Why not? Besides torque, it would do the same thing.

Has anyone had to replace the anvil head yet ? If so where did you find the replacement parts ?
Sorry, I havent had any problems at all with any of mine yet.

So the Hercules doesn’t have variable speed on the trigger?
Yes it does, you can control it with more or less pressure on the trigger.
I'd like to have one to try I've got Bauer impacts and I've not had any issues with either one
I enjoy the hercules line up a lot. Really happy with them for my little shop!

Will it work on a stuck oil drain plug?
I personally do not use anything powered on any drain plugs (nor do I recommend it), so I am not able to answer this question.
So are these Hercules ratchet brushed or brushless?
Im not so sure. The impact gun is brushless but I cant seem to find that information on the ratchet, sorry.
Both short and long neck version ratchets are brushed still
Ok thank you and i will avoid buying
All 12v at this time are brushed. Hopefully at some point they will go brushless.
