@@barsandbarbells2022 love the channel 👍 if you want to try 2 Zep songs that merge into each other try Friends/Celebration Day of LZ3 both great tracks on their own but the merging part is excellent. My vinyl copy used to jump when Robert sang “it’s very easy “ so I got 4 repeats instead of 3 😂
Love that you’re doing these back to back. For many of us Boomers, this medley played endlessly on the radio was our first exposure to Led Zeppelin. To say it was a huge revelation would be an understatement. 1969 was an astounding year for rock music
The first part of the guitar solo in “ Heartbreaker” is just Jimmy using his left hand on the guitar strings. No plectrum. I saw him play this live in November 1971 in Manchester, England 🏴. Loudest thing I have heard in my 70 years alive.
I was 15 when this Album came out. I heard it from a friends older brother, and I was hooked. Followed their whole career. Cried when Bonham died. Was blessed to see them live in 1975. They played for over 3 hours. It was incredible, but also sad as I knew I had seen the best concert I would ever see. They were the best.
There is no guitar solo in history that has been more inspirational for aspiring guitarists than this song (including me). It was the right riff, at the right time, but most pioneering, hands down, of all time.
Your comment about Layering the Bass line with Jimmy's guitar playing is the perfect description on Heartbreaker. The bonus was that you got 2 great songs bac2bac on the radio. No1 else was doing that.
A good friend of mine played lead guitar in a group, and he was good. When this came out I got him to listen to it, and he said, "There's single, picking, double picking, this is triple picking, and more." Impressive. Thanks for a great song to listen to with you, and God bless you!
Fantastic! You are the first reactors I have seen that do both songs together as they are meant to be! Thanks! I was a senior in high school when this dropped!
This album was my introduction to Zeppelin back in the early 70,s and my musical life was defined in the moment . Ever since it’s been Zeppelin and everything else comes afterwards.. Heartbreaker in particular I recall my thoughts on first listen and saying wow now thats what you call a rock song .❤❤❤Good weekend to you all ..❤❤
Great reaction guys. This is a beginning of SO many riffs that we're ripped off later by lesser bands. That's all I can say really. Zeppelin was special...period! You're still only scratching the surface. Much more to look forward to guys!!! CHEERS! 🍻🤟👏
The album "PRESENCE " has the most intense Zeppelin hard rock banger "NOBODYS FUALT BUT MINE" . Also the incredible next " great song " about their obsession with mythology " ARCHILLIES LAST STAND " (think IMMIGRANT SONG on STEROIDES) THANKS FOR EVERY THING YOU DO
Cool fact, when Jimmy Page played the neck of the guitar with one hand, someone at their LA concert was watching. That person was Eddie Van Halen, he went home and started experimenting with tapping. He got inspired by Jimmy Page.
Zeppelin are the greatest band. They really have no bad songs. Even the few songs people don’t seem to like like Hot Dog and the Crunge and Candy Store Rock are still quality songs.
You summed up Jimmy perfectly. His guitar is always perfectly placed, structured but also very innovative. You can hear his years as a session musician in the way he plays, yet he also plays so many unique riffs and is experimental. I'm also a Hendrix fan but i have Jimmy as number 1, and yes i'm biased as hell.
This song was such a powerful rush to me when I first heard it that I still remember that exact moment. I was driving & switched stations on the radio to the verse build up before the lead. I instantly recognized Page's guitar & JPJ's bass. I quickly pulled over & sat completely mesmerized & enraptured. I was in shock. It was like a powerful drug - PoW! Still think it's their most kick-a$$ tune, with Whole Lotta Love being a close second, to me. Thanks much for your reactions!
Those two songs show again why Jimmy Page was the guitar savant of the 70’s. Dude shredded it! Zeppelin was the perfect bridge from the end of the 60’s to the start of the 80’s when new wave and alternative music was starting. Those 10 years they were what every other band wanted to be. Unfortunately John Bonham passed away and it ended, but just an incredible run that will never listened to forever.
Being a musician myself Led Zep was always one of my favorite bands. In an interview that I watched, Jimmy Page said that Living Loving Maid was one of the songs that he didn't like. He said that that's the reasons that they never played it live.
What I heard none of them liked that one, that it was written about a rich groupie, that followed them everywhere & annoying. Us fans always liked it though.
@@sicotshit7068 Well, I also liked that song as well as a lot of my musician friends but there were a lot of songs that I'm sure that we all liked that Led Zeppelin didn't like as a whole band besides Living Loving Maid. For example, here are a few other songs that the band never played live because they didn't like them: D'yer Ma'ker' (John Bonham especially didn't like that one) The Rover, Down By the Seaside, Night Flight and In The Light. Also, Jimmy Page and John Bonham didn't like the song All Of My Love, and not did they not like All of My Love but they didn't care for the entire "In Through The Outdoor" album. Jimmy said that him and Bonham wanted some more rocking songs on the album, but he said that album was mostly the product by Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.
@@sicotshit7068 Yeah, I started playing music when I was 11 years old and I play guitar, drums keyboards and piano and vocals. I played in a lot of bands in the late 80's into the 90's. A lot of the musicians that I played with were all Zeppelin fans. I've played a lot of their songs in different bands along with original songs that me and others would write, and I have lot of books and magazines on them, however, some of the really big information that I got was from one of my ex-girlfriends back in the 80's. She went to a few of Jason Bonham's concerts when he was in the band Bonham. At one show she went to she got to go backstage and meet Jason in person. She knew a lot of the things I wanted to know about Led Zep, so he made time for her, and she asked him a lot of questions on my behalf and wrote them all down. So, I was then getting information directly from the source. She said that he was a very nice guy to make time for her to ask a lot of questions. The only thing she forgot to do for me was get me an autograph. She even forgot to get herself one with her also being such a big Zeppelin fan. I guess it was because she was so excited to get to actually meet him and ask him all those questions. I'm sure she got lost in him answering all the questions.

On the LP the time between the two is so small that DJs couldn’t stop it in time so just play them together. Some stations that recorded them to carts would separate them. It was weird to hear Heartbreaker and not LLM right after. This video has an extended span between the songs that the LP lacked.
I scrolled through a lot of comments looking for someone to explain the real reason we always expect to hear the two songs together, and yours was the first I found. Most said it was because the radio stations always played them together. Those commenters must have never heard the album. The reason radio stations played the two songs together was dictated by the album; and that was because, on the vinyl there was really no gap between the songs. If Page didn’t like the song, they should have put more than .25 seconds between the two songs. 😂

You know Idk if you know but Lisa Marie sings a song on her album about heading into her yard in Graceland that is beyond heart moving. Its called "Lights Out". She was badass LM but this is open soul. ~Red
For all us rockers who were blown away by their debut album, the 2nd album cemented them as the best hard rock band of all time, those 2 albums are a template for all heavy rock to come. No wonder many were let down initially by Led Zeppelin 3 though time has been quite kind to it. Early Zepp will always be my favorite by them as I was there when the music world changed for the better. From the same 2nd album, try What Is and What Should Never Be for your next track from them, another all time banger, it is pretty much all they made! Enjoy. 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥
John Paul Jones' bass was absolutely killer. I was told he played his bass through a Fender guitar amp, but I forgot the model. The guitar solo is said to be the inspiration of EVH's "Eruotion". Page hated "Living Loving Maid" and Zep rarely played it in concert. He felt the riff was too simple.
