Well from your impressions on oud maximus being closer to modern niche than slumberhouse, The only conclusion I arrive at is that these new screw looking cap versions of Bortnikoff reformulated all the juice to the ground. Original Oud maximus had so much oud and rose and "barnyard" that there is no whay a regular person could wear it lol. It was amazing tho:) Sad to see it is probably not what it used to be.
I'd like to sample a lot of the fragrances you're now familiarizing yourself with, e.g. Pineward, Bortnikoff, Slumberhouse, etc. I'm wondering where I could just sample them in person in MD, U.S.A. I'll probably have to go to Philadelphia or NYC to do that.
Hi Kicki, I own Gourmand Cochin and funny, I don't find it all that sweet. I have a ton of Pineward samples and I would agree that they are more an artistic impression and not so perfume like, though I do own a small bottle of Ginger Moss and like that one in the heat of summer. Revelries to my nose comes out strong clove on the open, which I don't really care for, then on dry down I do smell the fresh apple and almost Yankee candle vibe. I have been trying White Fir and considering a small bottle because it's so nice. That one is more mens cologne like, with a clear, fresh pine needle and citrus quality that pine needles can have. (pine needle tea if you know.). I also really like Ponderosa, but then again, I am into smelling like a forest of trees at times. Ponderosa is incredible. It almost has a slightly sweet vanilla like quality under the ponderosa pine smell. I am smelling it right now and this makes me want a bottle of it too, but the prices are really high as they are all natural distillations. Chanel 19 Poudre, heaven! oxJulia
I smelled Ponderosa last week, I just remembered. My friend has it. I think I liked it, but wouldn’t wear it like a perfume. I have Histria which fills the forest category really well and at the same time being ”perfumey”.
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 I retried Ponderosa last night and do you know I found it got pretty sweet in dry down and I didn't remember this about it. It apparently has a butterscotch note and after reading that, I couldn't stop smelling it and it became a little cloying. I will look look up Histria, thanks! oxJulia
Hi Kicki. That is nice that you like dancing. I used to like to dance when I was younger. I am 77 years old now and enjoy my perfumes, knitting and reading the Bible and Christian books; and I am reading a novel right now which I just started to read. Take Care. 😊
The Bortnikoffs I own and enjoy are: Oud Maximus, Lao Oud (on par with Maximus), Triad (3 types of oud), Musk Cologne (deer musk, tropical flowers, citrus), Musk Khabib, Amber Cologne (citrus, ambergris, oud), L'Heaure Exquise, Oud Monarch (smooth oud and cacao, not animalic at all), and Mysterious Oud (decent but least favorite from the bunch). The newer stuff aren't that great.
Hi Kicki. I am watching you today, Sunday, and you mention that it can be an addiction to buy many perfumes. I have collected 400 bottles up to now, and the good part is that I am learning a lot about the scents; and I go into the past with some vintage perfumes that I wore throughout my younger years, and it brings back the past. I have not sold any, and I have given a lot away, even some that I should have kept. I bought a body oil with a very nice scent of coconut vanilla, which smells great, and I use it on my hands which nourishes them and it is good for my nails. I also keep some in my cart on E-Bay so I can buy one or two a month, being more strict in buying. I think your amount of perfumes that you own of 50 is a good number. I am getting in a week an EDT of 2 oz by the name of Coconut Vanilla Orchid by the Company with the name of Love and Nature, and I think it will smell great. The bottle is round with a wooden cap. I will wait for about two weeks to see if I want to buy anything else from my E-Bay cart. The Sellers on E-Bay are very nice, and the bottles are packaged so well so they come to my house in good shape. I am glad you are enjoying your perfumes. I think it’s a nice hobby. Take Care. 😊
Like you, I tried and tried Guidance and believe the akigalawood doomed it. Although I have enjoyed sampling fragrances, I have not found a sample I want a full bottle of in a long time. So for now, I will keep wearing the same four scents (Coromandel, Bois des Isles, Tihota, and La Cautiva) and hope my love for ambers returns. Until then, Ambre Precieux and Ambre 114 are in time-out along with Gris Dior, Lira, and No. 5. I wish my daughter liked any/all of those but she only wears Melt My Heart oil by Strangelove and Milk by Commodity. During my self-imposed sample ban, I will be enjoying your reviews! P.S. I used to post under my name, Stefanie G., but changed for safety reasons.
I have a 10ml sample of Blondine ( Frassai) that I am waiting to try. I have high hopes so I will wait for the best time to test it. I tested some scents from a one man company and they all smell like room fresheners. I dont think I will give them to friends as they really are not that good. I think I may put them in a pretty tray in the bathroom. I wanted to give him a chance but the blending expertise and material quality doesnt seem to be there. It is fun sampling and trying new things. Thanks for putting us onto Wafts in a Loft, Im looking forward to checking out their channel. I am enjoying Bulgari Splendida Patchouli this morning. It is the first, Autumn cooler morning her on the North Coast NSW Australia so I am taking advantage of the cooler weather to sample.
We are in totally opposite seasons! Here it is just warming up, and best of all, it is LIGHT! We Swedes just go crazy in springtime when the sun comes out.
Hi Kicki. I am glad to get your video today on my big screen TV. It was from 8 months ago, and I enjoyed watching you. I am enjoying my perfumes, and I purchased a lot from E-Bay in the the last few months. I made a big dent in my credit card, and I have to be more careful in purchasing them. I enjoy all of them, and I give some away that I am not so fond of. I am glad that you found a job, and that it keeps you busy. I don’t like the music of Taylor Swift, and I agree with you on that. I hope your son enjoys his trip to Europe, and he will have a lot to tell you when he comes home. My daughter, husband, and three grandchildren returned from a trip to Iceland and Norway; mainly Norway for two weeks, and that is where my Son-in-Law is from and where all his family lives. They had a great time. Take Care. 😊
My favourite Chanel is Cristalle EDT. I bought a bottle recently and I am dissapointed, the hyacinth is stronger (not so much like the edp) and sweeter. The bitter side and crispness does not last long now.... a pitty. And this was much more expensive than the last one I bought like 3 years ago. I also enjoy Coromandel and Cuir de Russie (on clothes, on skin is a bit too smoky on me)
Hi Kicki. I think you are very knowledgeable in describing perfumes. I think if you work in a department store in the fragrance department you will really enjoy your work. They will be lucky to have you as an employee. Take Care. 😊
Hi Kiki love your videos I’m obsessed with fragrance too 0:02 😂 do you have a favourite fragrance of all time or are you like me and can’t decide ❤❤ lLinda in Scotland xx
I am obsessed with fragrance in general but not with one specific one. Just can’t decide on a favorite fragrance! I have a hard time believing the reviewers that say that they are obsessed and just cannot stop wearing a certain fragrance.
I took out my Love and Crime sample to wear. This brand is interesting to me because the owners doesn't seem to succumb to trends...and they have been around for a while. The opening did smell like a sweet vanilla candle to me, but it did develop into a better type of vanilla after that. Oud Maximus to be kinda smells like a orange-chestnut leather sweetened with florals.I say orange chestnut because I don't remember what the actual shades are called now, but it does remind of shoes I used to own in that colour. I am assuming the tanning process played a role in the final smell. I still remember how Slumberhouse was not difficult to get before all the hype started. Really insane to see how 'rare' their stuff is now. Its honestly a joke to me, but the brand owner plays his cards well.
How Interesting! I was under the impression that Slumberhouse was more artsy and maybe not in it for the money? But maybe when the batches are small and they only have so much of different raw ingredients, this is what happens.

I love Delfino, one of my favourite summer frags. So salty and bitter like peeling a mandarin and then smelling the inside of the peel!
ohh I love doing that! I then need to try it

Thank you for commenting! I enjoy reading the comments. I like Coromandel a lot but prefer Le Lion!
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 I like Le Lion too but I find it very lemony in the beginning. I suppose that makes it different :)

I have the same feelings towards love don’t be shy, at that point just wear aquolina, at least has an honest price😅
I don’t know that one! I am guessing it is slightly easier to wear.
