The fact that the Lion Guard did the explanation as to how Scar got his scar better than this is baffling to me. A kid’s show better explained why a villain became a villain than a movie with a multi-million dollar BUDGET.

Okay, here's an idea of what they could have done: Keep the bones of the story, but change the names of the core characters. Bookend the movie and make the framing device be about two unnamed cubs being told a story about thier ancestors, with specific attention to the two unnamed cubs being a little wily and not initially listening to the tale because they're bored and just want to wrestle around or go out exploring. Give them some defining moments that seem like vague callbacks to the original series that doesn't quite land until the end. The cubs are brothers and they eventually get invested in the story to where they comically cry out in amazement and anticipation whenever there's a bit of a cliffhanger in the story. Y'know, have them act like hyperactive kids that need a REALLY good story to get them to sit still. Eventually, when the story is finished, the two cubs are given the moral and warned that if they aren't careful, they could end up just like the two brothers in the story. Circle of Life and all that, y'know? They scoff at the idea and declare that they're best friends as well as best brothers and will never turn thier backs in each other. They then scamper off to go play outside, run past thier parents and give a quick greeting as one of the cubs tackles the other playfully. They bid thier parents a "See ya!" and take off as thier father calls out a warning to not stray away too far from Pride Rock. As they bound around in the grass, one of the cubs says excitedly: "C'mon, Mufasa! I found this really cool elephant graveyard you HAVE to see!" And so, the Circle of Life continues. Not a perfect idea, but it wouldn't be bound too much to established canon, would keep the relationships in tact, and wouldn't villainize Mufasa or make Scar into a simp because they're just kids and haven't gotten to the point where their lives change so much.

I love how they try to depict the males as lazy and stuff, but the reason that the males dont hunt much is beacuse they protect the pride, children and the kills the females bring home, and the males do most of the fighting of other lions
They’re also not really designed to sneak up on pray and chase them down. Though often they do help in hunts. They’ll sit out in the open looking big and scary, and get prey to run into an ambush.
They don't depict the males as lazy, though. They depicted _one_ male as lazy, to get across that Scar didn't have a good role model for what it means to be a king.

We live in a society where we're more excited for a Sonic movie than a Disney movie
The fact that the Lion Guard did the explanation as to how Scar got his scar better than this is baffling to me. A kid’s show better explained why a villain became a villain than a movie with a multi-million dollar BUDGET.
I just realize that all male lion in this movie have a short hair and skinny body, in real life mostly male lion have a long hair and muscle.

Okay, here's an idea of what they could have done:
Keep the bones of the story, but change the names of the core characters. Bookend the movie and make the framing device be about two unnamed cubs being told a story about thier ancestors, with specific attention to the two unnamed cubs being a little wily and not initially listening to the tale because they're bored and just want to wrestle around or go out exploring. Give them some defining moments that seem like vague callbacks to the original series that doesn't quite land until the end. The cubs are brothers and they eventually get invested in the story to where they comically cry out in amazement and anticipation whenever there's a bit of a cliffhanger in the story. Y'know, have them act like hyperactive kids that need a REALLY good story to get them to sit still.
Eventually, when the story is finished, the two cubs are given the moral and warned that if they aren't careful, they could end up just like the two brothers in the story. Circle of Life and all that, y'know?
They scoff at the idea and declare that they're best friends as well as best brothers and will never turn thier backs in each other.
They then scamper off to go play outside, run past thier parents and give a quick greeting as one of the cubs tackles the other playfully. They bid thier parents a "See ya!" and take off as thier father calls out a warning to not stray away too far from Pride Rock.
As they bound around in the grass, one of the cubs says excitedly: "C'mon, Mufasa! I found this really cool elephant graveyard you HAVE to see!"
And so, the Circle of Life continues.
Not a perfect idea, but it wouldn't be bound too much to established canon, would keep the relationships in tact, and wouldn't villainize Mufasa or make Scar into a simp because they're just kids and haven't gotten to the point where their lives change so much.
