    I've been using the V3 for a year, mounted neatly inside my Sim Labs P1 rig. Within vr especially I find the immersion it provides excellent. In fact I can't sim without it now. It also helps in a big way if you suffer from nausea when wearing an HMD as your brain is registering movement that it's expecting to, (despite the restrictions of 2DOF), based on what your eyes are seeing. As Barry says, the range of movement is very much down to individual choice and there is no right and wrong. I personally prefer the settings dialed right down though, with the motion cues I enjoy based on the 'less is more' principle. For example I don't like the seat surging forward too aggressively under braking and compressing the distance to the pedals. Great for the abs, less so for pedal finesse! The post-processing settings are also worth exploring for dialing in an even better experience, especially when it comes to creating individual profiles for different car types, for example formula vs non-formula where the range and nature of movement differs. Indeed the supporting motion platform software is excellent, quick, simple and intuitive on the one hand but plenty deep enough on the other. Another shout has to go out to Next Level Racing's customer service and after sales / developer support. They are quick to respond about anything and extremely helpful. Secondly they listen to their customers and a few ideas that I and others have suggested to them, which we believe would improve the experience, have been added to firmware and software updates. Highly recommended!

      It fit inside the SIMLAB P1? you have some photo of your rig ? i also have a P1 and i was curios to know if there was a was to fit the V3 on the P1, because over the long rail is a no-no situation, the seat will goes to much high. But if it fit inside ill buy one in the near future!

      @@ODIOPOWER Yes, using aluminium angle you can lower it neatly inside the P1 and fix it securely. It's tight but fits perfectly. Have a look here. www.racedepartment.com/threads/buying-advice-please-next-level-v3-motion-platform.137061/page-24#post-2752208

      Yes. The V3 is 460mm wide without the side brackets. The P1's inner dimension is 500mm wide.

      Great solution, I was thinking the same. Or run some aluminum plate on the underside of the 40/160 rails with a 50 or 60mm lip protruding to catch corner brackets mounted to the unit.

If you do you wont get anymore products for review and your channel suffers. All UA-camrs are shills and they have to be to stay in business.

      @@FirstLast-tx3yj hi, i have been using this for quite a while now, and i can say that without comparing to other units it is very good, obviously the level of FFB would be determined by the platform your playing, iracing or rFactor etc.
      If the settings are left at default it would just about throw you out of the seat, i have turned the settings down on mine. The feedback is great, you can tell when you go over curbing, you can tell either left or right side, and front or rear wheels, amazing lol. The only complaint is the amount of play it has when not in use, the seat rocks back and forward a lot in my opinion, it is within spec appatently though, hope this helps

    I've had the V2 for a few years and I really enjoy it (purchased a few months before the V3 came out). I think going to a D-Box would be the only motion upgrade I would consider. The only issue we've had with it is it's a bit noisy at night when everyone else is trying to sleep. I've heard the V3 is a little quieter.

    When you think about it, the wheel and pedals not moving is more realistic to the force you feel when your driving a real car.

    • @sportbikejesus
      @sportbikejesus Рік тому

      In a real car, the entire car dives under braking, rolls in corners, and pitches under acceleration. So the pedals actually do move in the same way the seat moves bc the platform on which the seat and pedals and wheel is attached moves.
      The reason it matters is the distance btwn the driver and the controls remains static which gives you a stable platform to make and maintain smooth inputs.

I've had my motion platform for over 3 months and I still dont have it working properly. Really a bummer. I feel like I've lost a lot of money.... lot's of wasted time trying to fix it and its wobbly when its off so I dont use it my rig hardly at all anymore.

      I purchasee an M2 seat mover to bolt up to my sim lab p1. I supllied them with measurments, when I received the unit 4 weeks later i noticed it was way too wide and would not bolt it. Called them they admitted they didn't look measurments. They told me to bring it to a fabricator of my choice here in California to get it fixed snd pay for it myself. I obviously declined this and told them to build me another set of mounting brackets. 4 weeks later I recieved the new brackets. They were built wrong still but I was able to adjust my simlab p1 to make it work. After installing the new bracket I noticed my left motor was acting very lazy. After hours of testing on my end I figured out it was broken. Sent them an email. After a week of back and fourth enails of graphs etc....they said it was a 30 dollar controller unit in the box. They also suggested I buy one myself and apply thermal paste because it will be much faster then then shipping it. Again with my own money. I disagreed with this finding because I was sure it was the motor. I swapped plugs and put the bad motor on the good controller... I was right. Motor is bad. It's been another week emailing them more charts and back and fourth with no solutuon as of yet. Only reason I haven't posted on forums is because I'm afraid they might not honor the warranty. There is even more then this, just wanted to give a quick overview.

    Great review Barry as always...!!! 👌 However, I'm curious as to the unboxed dimensions of the unit and if it's possible to slide this unit into the rectangular spacing that's normally available under the seat of a "SIM-LAB P1" chassis...??? 🤔 Will it clear the four walls of that area? Thanks 👌🤔

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 років тому

      Yes it will fit inside. It is too wide with the side mounts. You will need to fabricate some kind of a mount because it is a bit narrow without the side mounts. A regular corner bracket like the ones I used in this installation are too short. You could use some washers to space them out from the V3's chassis. I was thinking about mounting some 1/4" plate aluminum plate underneath the side 40/160 profiles with 2" protruding towards the inside of the chassis. Then use corner brackets to mount to that. This would sit the entire unit low enough that your seat height would be very similar to the regular seat rails that come in the P1 kit. Or use some angle aluminum along the inside channels of the 40/160 profile and adjust the height that way. Many ways to go about it.

      I can't say for anything other than the Sparco brackets. Sparco does make a cheaper steel side bracket that has the exact same hole pattern on the bottom flange. So they should work to. I did have to fiddle with the bolts to get them all in. Just leave them all loose as you put them in and you should be able to make it work.

      I do intend to try it when I get the chance. Just real busy right now. There may be a sync issue, as you would be combining to different types of actuators systems. And syncing the two software programs could be tricky. I ran into this a bit when combining the GS-4 seat with the Stage 4 rig from SimXperience. It worked fine, but I could feel a bit of lag between the speed of the SCN''s and the servo motors on the GS-4. Even when being driven by the same software.

    Do you think lap times would go up with a setup like this or is it more just for the sensation? Just looking for your opinion, I'm sure it depends on the user. Cool video.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 років тому

      Probably not with it set to higher force levels. But, with it turned down to "less is more" type settings it does give you more information to react to than with just a DD wheel alone. So, it could help you to be faster. Really depends on the driver I think.

    Barry did you measure the dampening spring rates (or could you if you still have it?), I'm looking at a DOF Reality M2 as I can't afford one of these and adding springs I think is a must to remove the obvious play from the lash.

      I want to do some flight sim stuff. And DCS is my favorite Sim. Finding the time is the problem. I currentlly have a 5 week backlog of Sim Raicng hardware to review. Maybe I will run out of things to review for Sim Racing and focus on Flight sim hardware for a while. Sim Flying Garage???

    How big the input lag is? Is it truly an instant feeling it provides, or it's rather with an annoying delay? It's important for me, since if it's immediate, then it could be useful for improving my racing pace. If it has more than 0.3 sec lag, then in my opinion it's useless. Thanks for the info!

    The wheel shoud be coupled to the platform so it's not changing the distance between the seat and the wheel as it moves. That's really immersion breaking, imo.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  5 років тому

      They are two different types of movement. I prefer the Dbox, as the whole chassis moves, instead of just the seat. That' not to say a seat mover is not a good solution, it is. Just like it better when my wheel, pedals and peripherals move together as they would in a real life. 27" monitors.

    Hi Barry!! I’m in a bit of a dilemma here . I have the Next Level Racing V3 platform mounted on a Simlab p1 chassis and I’m in the middle of building the sfx-100. I’m contemplating wether I should keep the v3 and combine with sfx-100 or return it and get the gs-5 sear from sim experience, or just have the sfx-100 by itself. ( If anyone has any experience with the combination of both, please share. I appreciate your help).
    Love all your videos by the way
    Thanks In advance!

    Hi Barry. I just purchased the NLR Motion Simulator. It is
    installed in a NLR GTultimate v2 cockpit. When I lean back or push on my brake pedal the Motion Simulator rocks back. It’s definitely in
    the motion unit itself not the seat. Is that normal?

  • @SedentaryGhost

    Could I theoretically attach this thing to a setup where the wheel and pedals are on it as well so I could have everything moving. Seeing the wheel be stationary while you are moving must be an immersion breaker.

  • @johnambers
    @johnambers 4 роки тому

    Would it be possible to build a frame that connects to the seat and the pedals and wheel? I would much prefer everything to move at the same time and It doesn't seem like it would add much extra weight and the system seems pretty robust. I am really thinking of buying one but I am planning on doing that and hope it works. Thanks for any feedback and good video.

    Barry do me a favor, please tell me how to hook this thing up to my computer? The power cable is on the bottom rights front side and I'm assuming that bizarre looking cable which ironically did not come with my kid goes on the other side? I thought it was just a simple USB cable? You didn't show that part where you hook the thing up I watched the whole video and you don't even show how you hook the physical wires up I know I'm maybe not a brightest bulb but please answer and help me out...

      I have no way to test this. However, the stated weight limit is 285 pounds. So it looks like you can use it.
