You really make high quality videos and these are extremely useful. Not only do you review the item in question in a traditional sense (ie. how the pedals work in-game), you also review the technical and mechanical side, give insight onto the mounting and things like that, that really make you wonder before you buy. Because, not everyone has professional grade mechanical engineering skills, let alone the tools for the job. Little tidbit of info for new owners: the three red screws on the footrest *should not be removed*, ever, by Fanatec's own guide. They are extremely soft, and prone to being ground to powder with very little torque applied. Should that happen, Fanatec will *not* cover the specific issue under warranty (i.e. the screws stay stuck.).
I don't think that this is quite accurate, I will explain. I have the inverted version and have removed mine for mounting multiple times when servicing and cleaning without an issue. In the V3 manual it does say that the red screws must not be loosened which are both on the footrest and the side of the unit holding the frame together. "NOTE: Red screws of the ClubSport Pedals V3 must not be loosened." (pasted from the Fanatec V3 manual) On the inverted version all of these screws are black so the manual is a bit more specific about which screws not to loosen. The only reference in the inverted manual to screws that should not be removed is to the screws on the either side of the unit that hold the frame together. "NOTE: Frame fixing screws of the ClubSport Pedals V3i must not be loos-ened." (pasted from the Fanatec V3 inverted manual) If the footplate was not intended to be removed then I think they would have mentioned this in the newer inverted version of the manual and wouldn't have changed the wording. What are your thoughts on this?
Yeah, no kidding. Learnt the hard way as I tried to remove these red screws. Ended up getting a screw removal kit and had them replaced just so I can bolt it to the alum profile 😪
I had a hell of a time removing one of those screws, it was definitely overtorqued at the factory. Fanatec did send me a replacement screw though, along with a warning to never remove that plate again.
Love how you go all the way dismounting/mounting it all. When the rubber gloves came on the pedals went "Oh no you don't, you'd have to buy us a dinner and a movie for that!" =)
I'm watching this while I wait for them to be back in stock again (June 30). Have been saving all my unspent beer money during COVID-19 lockdown. Can't wait to get them and replace my G920 pedals!
I just got my pedals last week. Are you using a sim rig with hard mounting options? If not be prepared for some frustration. The pedals aren't ideal for just plopping down on the floor and using like many do with the Logitech pedals (as I did.)
@@shodancat1000 no i'll be still at my computer desk. However I plan to build a heavy platform to bolt them to and give it a better angle. That will be resting against the wall, so shouldn't have any issues with it sliding.

Awesome, this is the pedal review I was waiting for from you Barry :) Giving a "like" even before I watch the video, and it seems I am not the only one, as of writing this there are 437 likes and 0 zero dislikes - have never seen a youtube video with a ratio of so many likes and zero dislikes! Great work Barry!
Great review as always mate, I have these pedals and I love them I went with the option cased for the brake and clutch and kept the original pedal face for the gas. I re[placed my CSL load cell pedals with this set and although Im very happy with them I could have easily stuck with the CSL set they are really good also. Keep up the good work Barry and thanks from across the pond
Kurvz: I'm considering the purchase of either the CSL-LC or the Clubsport v3. Knowing you what know now about both pedals - which would you advise buying? (Of course the CSL's are less expensive, and I really like the flexibility of moving the pedals closer or farther apart; but the build quality and dampening options of the v3 really appeal to me too.)
@@eduardol.4831 I would say that the V3s are obviously the better set but not by a large margin, if your budget allows then go for the V3s, but the CSL LC kit is awesome for the money withe csl you can move the position of the pedal arms which is awesome which you can not with the V3s you can only move the pedal faces. I have the damper kit of my brake pedal and I really have adjusted to suit me nicely, the only grips I had with the CSL LC is the loadcel bushing could be a bit stronger as I had one explode on me I am very hard on my pedal mind you, but I contacted Fanatec and they sent me a new one, I have kept the CSL as spares should my V3 need to be serviced or repaired, so in general the change from CSL to V3s was not amazing as the CSLs do the job again if budget allows the V3s IMO but you want be left short with the CSLs.
Thanks so much for the in depth on this pedal set. I have had this for almost 2 years and have not really been using it to its fullest potential. Watching your video inspired me to take it apart and make some of the same adjustments I added the performance kit and the switches the damper to the throttle changed the angle and rise of the pedals themselves, really excited to get used to the new feel. Awesome video keep this up!!
Thanks for the review! I'll add my thoughts on the brake pedal. This was my first load cell pedal set and I was having a hell of a time getting a good feel for the brake. The stock elastomer set up preloads the pedal pretty hard against the mechanical stop, which makes a very unrealistic and troublesome dead zone at the top of the stroke. You must overcome the preload force before the pedal moves and that initial force registers on the load cell in a very non linear way. I replaced one of the original elastomers with an aluminum bushing and trimmed the remaining elastomer by about 5mm and then adjusted the preload so the pedal just barely touched the mechanical stop. Feels and works SO MUCH better now, with a realistic progressive stiffness and nice and linear force response! If you have a lathe or 3d printer, don't waste your money on the brake performance kit! If you're looking at buying this pedal set, plan on doing some DIY mods or paying for the brake performance kit. I'm very impressed by these pedals but the brake is pretty lousy as it comes from the factory IMO.
Having started sim racing less than a month ago, I have learned so much from you. I love these pedals. I like watching even if it’s something I know I will never be able to afford. Thanks Barry!
I must say, after seeing your video...My wish would be that all sustainable building of electronics (like cellphones, and all that other related stuff) should understand that Fanatec perhaps by accident choose a Godly solution for not throwing away you pedal (like your Iphone or Samsing s10) after 3 years. Great vid. my friend. From a 63 years old "simulator old dady"
Thanks for the great review on Fanatec and Thrustmaster products... My son will be very happy with his Christmas present... Based on your reviews... Lord knows I spent a lot of $$$.... 👍
I just did the change the curved plates yesterday and found the installation of the motors very tideous, other than that it greatly improves driving feel and i am very happy about it, great review as well ! :)
Great review!! I have these pedals and they are amazing!! Stock..No upgrades out of the box fantastic! IMO best pedals till you get to the $1000 + kits.
Brake pedal stiffness is all subjective. On all the F1 teams the mechanics can easily adjust the stiffness and how much travel the driver wants on his brake pedal. I like medium stiffness and about medium to long travel. Some drivers like little to no travel, some like a lot. And other racing series where the teams buy the cars the brake pedal travels more than how you have it. So to be honest I’d have no issue with setting these up to how I like it. Thanks for the detailed review. Number 1 sim racing reviewer out there
I bought the V3's when they first came out and they were DOA, load cell and accelerator were duff. I have no doubt they are excellent pedals still, but I ended up building my own after that.
If Barry wasn't doing this, he could easily make a living helping kids get to sleep by reading bedtime stories. As we say round my way... What a lovely bloke.
Super detailed video!👍🏾 many times your videos are of equipment way out off my budget, I see now why usually your videos (of what I do have) are the longest 🙌🏾
Nice review I have this set and just a word of caution those pretty red screws are very soft and extremely easy to destroy when you screw them in and out so use caution and be gentle with them. Fanatec should provide extras of these imo
Beautiful review Barry. Thanks so much. I just wanted to add, that the ClubSport pedals always had Hall-sensors for clutch and gas pedal, since the first iteration.
I have them for some 2500 hours grinding them at ca.40-80 Kg load at nearly every turn. The only tiny problem i noticed was the pin that attaches arm to the pedal. The sucker actually started twisting slowly due to stresses and went out of the mount hole on one side. When i pulled it out to see whats going i saw a mark in printed from grab screw that secures it. What i did was to file a notch in that pin where screw could recess. That was the only problem and i pushed them so far that the brake pedal plastic add on broke from stress recently. All 3 pedals share common axis that is a solid piece of steel but I think it is chromed just like the pedal arm rod i mentioned above. The pedals are mounted using brass or bronze slide bearings which should be the only thing that wears down. In my opinion I could go like that for another 2.500 hours before the play becomes too big and u would need new bearings. The whole package is made of solid quality materials so if anything happens in 5-10 years u can add some design alterations to make it run. EDIT1: THERE IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH CSL ELITE WHEELBASE I WANT TO ADDRESS AS I THINK IT CAUSES PEOPLE PAIN IN THE ASS. MICRO FUSE INSIDE IS SO MICRO THAT IT CAN LOOSE CONNECTION ON THE SMALL TABS IN THE MOTHERBOARD (OXIDATION AND THE FACT HOW SMALL THE CONTACT SURFACES BECAUSE WHAT ELSE) WHERE IT SEATS. WHEN IT HAPPENS IT CAN SEND SOME VOLTAGE OR NONE AND IT IS INTERMITTENT. IT WILL TURN OFF OR WILL JUST TURN ,,ON'' LIGHT DURING POWERING ON PROCEDURE. I WAS LUCKY TO MEASURE IT WHEN THAT INTERMITTENT FAULT OCCURRED AND IT SHOWN ONLY FEW VOLTS. THE SOLUTION IS TO TAKE OUT FUSE, REMOVE SOCKET FROM MOTHERBOARD AND JUST SOLDER IN SOME AUTOMOTIVE FUSE. PROBLEM NEVER CAME AGAIN - IT IS A KNOWN OR MAYBE I AM WRONG AND IT IS UNKNOWN SUPER COMMON ISSUE THAT FANATEC WONT FIX. WHEN I SEND AN EMAIL TO FANATEC ABOUT IT THEY SEND BACK THUMBS UP SIGN AND THAT WAS IT. THAT IS WHY I AM GETTING SIMCUBE 2 - FUCK FUNATEC www.banggood.com/HS-912-Medium-Waterproof-16AWG-Wire-In-line-Car-Automotive-Blade-Fuse-Holder-p-1034232.html?gmcCountry=IE¤cy=EUR&createTmp=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw8ZHsBRA6EiwA7hw_sVkq9vA6IUF8xwobJ1-9NIS_2CxXE-MVGD28J4bnBeVBLKKaXooRTBoC6GAQAvD_BwE&cur_warehouse=CN
After several months of configuring the SFX-100 motion simulator, I finally bought the Fanatec Club Sport Pedal V3. The review was useful, and I didn't need to replace the spring because I want to drive comfortably. Load cell brakes seem to need adjustment and adaptation. Thanks!! Next up, waiting for the CSL DD wheelbase and wheel rims, I guess I'll have to tease the Logitech MOMO racing wheels a bit more. LOL
Hi, thanks to your video I realized I'm an idiot and cancelled my order... I ordered a usb adapter and didnt need to bc it came with the handy dandy cable in the box. I just recently switched to PC from console, PC wasn't recognizing my pedal set. Saved myself some money, lol. THANKS!
Brian Prior I definitely will upgrade but not anytime soon as I just recently just got the G29 from a DFGT. I haven’t played a “sim” since GT5 lol (bored of FPS). I’m enjoying GT Sport and just started AC. AC is instant fun. Definitely will be build a PC for better options for racing. It’s pretty crazy how far they’ve gone since GT5. AC feels like I’m driving a real car. GT will always have a soft spot for me though.
Barry, excellent review as always! Was looking forward to YOUR review of the V3 for quite some time, BUT honestly I was a little bit shocked that you didn't test the Brake performance kit + damper kit (stiffer throttle!). Everybody keeps saying this offical mod is essential with this pedals! Also hoping for a review of the Heusingveld Sprint pedals soon. Looking for an upgrade from my T3PA Pro and need to know which of these sub 1000$ pedals have the better price/performance value!
@@simracinggarage3026 Wow, great to hear! Will you review the Sprint Pedals (HE) anytime soon? Deciding between these two, but I like the price point of the Fanatec! ;-) and I like the looks of them! 😎
An alternative method of getting to the brake piston is to just remove the 2, five mm allen bolts on the ends of the crossbar in the bottom that actually holds the pedals. It'll take the pressure off the pedal and you can quickly remove the piston and change the dampers. Then put it back in, it lines up easily and then bolt in the bottom pivot tube...
I just ordered these pedals cant wait to try them out! Its a shame they don't show the aluminum plates on their promo shots of their website. I thought it they were modding plates.
Great review, as always. I would like to point out an option for a stiffer throttle. I am currently using the Fanatec Damper Kit on my Club Sport Pedals. I have the damper installed on my throttle. I originally used the kit on my brake pedal. I found the damper to be redundant in combination with the Brake Performance Kit I had already installed. It may not be to some people’s liking, but it is an option that may satisfy some drivers.
Hi! I'm very interested in a stiffer throttle but I'm concerned that adding the damper in the throttle will make it a little bit "slow" when modulating / releasing the pedal? Or is this no concern?
@@nostromo2902 I wanted a stiffer throttle, too, so I installed the black spring and adjusted the pre-load screw that it rests against all the way down. It made a huge difference, and I feel it's perfect now. The black spring with the screw in the default position was a little too weak for my taste, so I was happy to have discovered that I could make it stronger by adjusting that screw. Give it a shot.
Using the damper kit in the throttle takes some trial and error adjustments to the adjustment dial on the back of the damper, in order to get it feeling right. I have mine set very lightly. It has just enough damper effect to give a stiffer feel. While pushing the pedal in, I can feel a slight resistance from the damper. On release the pedal freely snaps back as quickly as it does without the damper. I think this feels more realistic, but like I said, some people won’t like the feel of this setup.
New subscriber here. All I can say is WOW Barry! Nevermind the pedals, but your heel-n-toe technique is just phenomenal! Is it too late for a 63 year old “going back to sim racing since the 80’s” to learn this technique?
Nice review! For heel and toe with shoes it's a lot easier with the D shaped pedal face on the brake, the shoe will not stick as much to that and a smaller surface, for the throttle I use the long, stock pedal face. And the brake performance kit makes the brake feel a lot better! Will be interesting to hear if you find it worth the money to add the damper as well to the brake performance kit.
That's one of the benifits of this pedal set. Lot's of tuning options. Allowing most to get these dialed in to their personal preference. Preliminary findings indicate the performance kit is must have for drivers that prefer a stiffer brake pedal for proper brake pedal modulation. The Damper...not sure yet.
@@simracinggarage3026 Yes, wasn't that happy with the stock feel of the brake, but with the performance kit I really like it! Would love to know if the damper kit will add anything to the feeling! :)
Hello, sorry for my English, I have a question: Could the throttle and clutch be repositioned to make them inverted? That is, the throttle take them to the left and the clutch to leave it on the right. It would simply be to remove them from the piston and exchange them.
The brake performance kit and stiffer clutch/throttle springs are key with this pedal set. Even using the softest combination of elastomer springs available with the kit is a massive improvement over the factory foam in the brake.
P.S. I've had this pedal set around 3 years now. A little squeakiness has developed in the throttle and it took a long time to find my "sweet spot" with the performance kit, but I love these pedals
Thanks man! I just got the CSL Elite V1.1 base and wheel (PC/XBox). Trying to decide what pedals to replace my G920 pedals with (currently having to have my g920 hooked up to run as a hub since the pedals don't have usb). Anyway, I'm trying to decide if I should go with the CSL Elite Pedals or these Clubsport v3 pedals. Watched your review on both and has helped me decide on the Clubsport V3 pedals. Sure, they're more money but I think in the long run I will like them better. Kudos Barry!
As always a good review:-) I also have the pedals, I thought they looked cool with black pedal plates, so i thought why do i have the chrome ones and not the black ones, until i looked under the table and discovered mine was black to. Hahahaha
If you are thinking of buying these, consider the braking load cell sometimes fails. I've had mine 2 months done maybe 2k laps and the input is twitchy. Fanatec support is good so far I can send it in for repair or they will send me the part. Seen plenty of other people with the same issue, though I have no facts on what % actually have the problem. Also - get the brake performance kit.
You have a delivery smoother than a slow flowing river of Lithium grease, Barry. 🙂 Do you have any remarks regarding the effectiveness of the vibrating weight system on the accelerator and brake after testing? And thank you for the attention to detail. I’m taking my first tentative steps towards building a rig from the ground up, and your reviews have been an invaluable resource thus far. Liked, subbed with regards from England.
You can barely feel the vibration at all - even when wearing socks. If I really focus on it, I can JUST barely feel it, but during a race you don't feel crap. It's just so weak.
Hi Barry, have you ever tried to change the clutch spring to the stiffer one? I tried this yesterday with my 2-day old pedals and got quite desperate because one of the screws that are holding that block in the lever does not come out. One side worked fine, but only when i hold both screws simultanously with two screwdrivers. The opposite one turns without getting loose, because something in that block turns with the screw, as if the screw is in a socket that can turn inside the block. When I put the opposite screw in again and twist it, the other screw also twists (difficult to explain in english because I'm a german guy ;)). Can you check this?
Yes, this is an issue with the clutch block. The sleeve that the screws go into rotates freely. And it's hard to get both screws out, as if you loosen one, the other just spins sleeve instead of backing out. I would get 2 nuts that fit the screws. Remove one screw and thread both nuts on it. Re-thread the screw into the sleeve a bit. Then tighten both nuts in a locking configuration against the sleeve side. This will require 2 wrenches. Once done, hold this screw with a hex wrench as you loosen the other stuck screw with another hex wrench. Finally, loosen the 2 nuts and you should be able to remove the screw as it is almost all the way out anyway. Hope this makes sense.
Is there not a higher chance of banging and damaging the sensors in use if they're attached on the side of the pedal arm? Better to be placed behind the mechanism in a system that doesn't move any wiring in operation.
Thanks for another great review. The v3 pedals are really great and I never regretted getting them. Check out the GPX wheel from Precision Sim Engineering if you get the chance. It's a work of art!
I don't think it is. This channel is for the people who are really into simracing and are interested in new products. And there are not many like that.

I had a hell of a time removing one of those screws, it was definitely overtorqued at the factory. Fanatec did send me a replacement screw though, along with a warning to never remove that plate again.
How do you tighten down the front spots to a rig without removing the plate?
This guys is the Bob Ross of Sim Racing :D
You can use fanaleds to adjust the vibrationmotors :)
thanks for the review Barry
That will be resting against the wall, so shouldn't have any issues with it sliding.
thank you for this professional review, you are THE reference benchmark for reviews ! You give a clear unbiased opinion on strengths and weaknesses of the product, just what a consumer needs. Please keep it up ! We appreciate your work highly.
Thanks Barry for the video. I was going around in circles with frustration because of the stupid acorn nut. I love your clear, calm explanations. I have just sent you a small donation as thanks. Keep up the good work.
Awesome, this is the pedal review I was waiting for from you Barry :)
Giving a "like" even before I watch the video, and it seems I am not the only one, as of writing this there are 437 likes and 0 zero dislikes - have never seen a youtube video with a ratio of so many likes and zero dislikes! Great work Barry!
Just got my set today. I’m amazed by the look!
Love the channel Barry, I/we hope to see you gain the subscribers and views you and this channel deserves. KEEP GOING!!!
I just bought these pedals today along with the brake performance kit. Can't wait until they get here! Thanks for the review Barry!!!
You do an excellent job with these reviews. Very clear, thorough and you keep them flowing well and interesting.
I was going to do csl or these buy since Barry says it's worth the extra money, I will absolutely buy the v3s. Thanks for all you do, Barry!!!
i wish i had a buddy like this guy
Thanks to you Barry, I just picked myself up a set of the V3s plus the performance upgrade kit. Can't wait to get my feet onto it!
Having started sim racing less than a month ago, I have learned so much from you. I love these pedals. I like watching even if it’s something I know I will never be able to afford. Thanks Barry!
Thanks for the video. Exactly what I needed to know. Ordered a set today :)
Thank you! I chose this product from this review. Looking forward to my first setup from Fanatec!
Did you get any of the upgrades and are they worth it ?
These videos both the reason for my insomnia, and a cure for it.
Its currently 3:17am and I threw him on to fall asleep, yet feed my love for sim racing.
Incredible detail again. Using this video to change spring and throw.
Thanks for the clarification.
Thanks again for the excellent review and demonstration. You are 2 for 2 ... Subbed :)
THAT IS WHY I AM GETTING SIMCUBE 2 - FUCK FUNATEC

Darn, this makes me worried about their customer service. These aren't csl though this is v3 and comes with clubsport 2.5 package
You speak so eloquently.
Thanks for your continued reviews, 2nd to none. Your review was the last thing that made me grab a set of these up.
After several months of configuring the SFX-100 motion simulator,
I finally bought the Fanatec Club Sport Pedal V3.
The review was useful, and I didn't need to replace the spring because
I want to drive comfortably. Load cell brakes seem to need adjustment
and adaptation. Thanks!!
Next up, waiting for the CSL DD wheelbase and wheel rims,
I guess I'll have to tease the Logitech MOMO racing wheels a bit more. LOL
I'm a simple man. I see Barry, I see a review and I give a like
These are a beautiful pedal set no doubt about it. Thanks for the great review Barry, very well done as usual Sir.
Very informative and detailed, thanks Barry
Wtf your reviews are so awesome. I think I would watch these even if I wasn’t interested in the product.
Absolutely fantastic review, man.
best reviews, all information you need about the pedals :-)
Great and thorough video!
Those Acorn nuts should be facing to the outside of the pedal arms to give you more room inside.
But then they look like wings, and that's nuts
I love them so much I have bought 2 sets.
42:41 - Great tip! Saved me time. Thanks
Bro your heel and toe is gnarly. That shits almost dope to watch lol
Wonderful walk through, I had some trouble installing this before. Thanks !
Great video. Just got my V3's yesterday. The throttle throw adjustment is big for me. Going from thrustmaster to v3's is different.
Excellent review , thx Barry
Great thorough reviews! Thank you!
Awesome review, Barry.
Just installed my V3 pedals, love them.
Bpk or have you left it standard
@@trevz1048 i have the kit, but have not used it, the brakes feel fine in my stocking feet.
Superb review Barry. Thanks.
THANKS!
Those look amazing, wish I could justify getting Fanatec kit. I’m a novice sim racer so it’ll be some time until I grow out of the G29.
No worries, I am doing seperate reviews of the Damper and Performance kits. Will be up sometime this week I think.
@@simracinggarage3026 Wow, great to hear! Will you review the Sprint Pedals (HE) anytime soon? Deciding between these two, but I like the price point of the Fanatec! ;-) and I like the looks of them! 😎
@@nostromo2902 Not sure. It's not easy to get them. They sell out as soon as they post them for sale.
@@simracinggarage3026 they are for sale now just got a set, i set up a script to email me :) good luck everyone
Great review, best Iv ever seen for these pedals.
I just ordered these pedals cant wait to try them out! Its a shame they don't show the aluminum plates on their promo shots of their website. I thought it they were modding plates.
Nice! Cant wait for the DD review too of the new fanatec
Great review, thanks for all the detail.
Very ready for this review!
New subscriber here. All I can say is WOW Barry! Nevermind the pedals, but your heel-n-toe technique is just phenomenal! Is it too late for a 63 year old “going back to sim racing since the 80’s” to learn this technique?
Never too late to learn. And a lot of fun once mastered.
Love your reviews...very thorough...Thank you!
Great review as usual. I would love to see a review of the new heusinkveld sprint pedals.
If those ever become available again...
Your heal toe is on point bro!! Haha perfect
Juhu! Thanks! I always hoped that you review those pedals. My wish came true :-)
Do you have any remarks regarding the effectiveness of the vibrating weight system on the accelerator and brake after testing?
And thank you for the attention to detail. I’m taking my first tentative steps towards building a rig from the ground up, and your reviews have been an invaluable resource thus far.
Liked, subbed with regards from England.
You can barely feel the vibration at all - even when wearing socks. If I really focus on it, I can JUST barely feel it, but during a race you don't feel crap. It's just so weak.
eltorrente, Good to know. Thanks for the info.
The Fanaled software lets you crank up the intensity.
@@simracinggarage3026 Fantastic idea, I think this should work. You are in my evening prayer! ;) Thank you!!!
Excellent video, thank you!
At 37:05 Are you sure the acorn nuts are supposed to be on the inside? Shouldn't the nice acorn nuts be on the outside of pedals?
Is there not a higher chance of banging and damaging the sensors in use if they're attached on the side of the pedal arm? Better to be placed behind the mechanism in a system that doesn't move any wiring in operation.
Thanks for another great review. The v3 pedals are really great and I never regretted getting them. Check out the GPX wheel from Precision Sim Engineering if you get the chance. It's a work of art!
this channel is so underrated
I don't think it is. This channel is for the people who are really into simracing and are interested in new products. And there are not many like that.
