We were recovering from the mess of the 60s, and the crazy extremists went back to the margins of society. Hopefully that cycle will happen again soon.

How did they hold those incredibly tight harmonies without ear pieces? Even one of the Bee Gees had to at least block one ear to maintain form. Amazing vocalists!!

This song is definitely a timeless classic. I was almost 3 years old when this song came out. I will be 51 in on September 16. This song never lost it's touch. It's really great!
This takes me back to my carefree youth, to the summer of one of my favorite years 1975-(1976, the Bicentennial year), going outside to play, from after school to when it was close time for the street lights to cut on, sleeping outside in the summer, my 1st favorite aunt expecting her second child, which was my 2nd favorite cousin, riding bikes in the neighborhood, going to our favorite summer spot, the public swimming 🏊♀️ pool. For New Year's Eve next year 12/31/2025, I am gonna get a 1976 Cadillac Coupe De Ville with the stars and stripes also spray painted as a backdrop on a light blue, pink, or white T-shirt, an it is gonna read The Spirit of '76, in honor of the United States' 50th anniversary of the Bicentennial. I'm from a non english speaking background. I love the harmony of this song but I didn't know what the song was about... until he few years ago ! A British female I was chatting with online asked me what I had been up to that afternoon. I innocently replied : "I enjoyed an afternoon delight with a friend" I meant enjoy the beach and a swim in the ocean with my friend. The British female then wrote back: "That's disgusting, I'm not into that, goodbye" Haha 😂😂😂
The song that, at least for me, best encapsulates and embodies the entire decade of the 1970s in America. Too bad it's lip-synched, but virtually all the songs performed on these afternoon tv chat shows back then were done that way. Thanks much for uploading. 👍
