As other commenters have shared, the real star of Voctave is Jamey Ray (the second gentleman from the far left) who is the founder of the group and arranger of ALL of their pieces. Jamey doesn't arrange for "parts" in general, but instead writes SPECIFICALLY for EACH of his singers' capabilities -- so no singer will ever be "forcing" their voices beyond their naturally stunning ranges. The man is simply BRILLIANT!!

I always love seeing voice coaches and voice teachers discover Voctave for the first time. Yes they really are that good, yes all do or have worked for Walt Disney World, and yes many have advanced degrees in music. These are the consummate professionals. No other a cappella group has the quality or richness of their sound. Jamie Ray, the arranger for all their songs is a music professor at Rollins College on the North East side of Orlando, and has arranged for Broadway, and many big name performers. What is most amazing is that for most of them this is a side gig, their real job is singing at Disney. Their live concerts are even better, imho, because they know how to blend and don’t need a sound guy to do it for them. The basses are some of the lowest out there, their tenors and sopranos soar like angels on those high notes effortlessly, and their altos have a richness that hugs you with their voice.
My favorite thing about Voctave though is the selfless way they all sing and backup the soloist. And usually when there is a soloist, incredible as they may be, I am usually listening to the background singers and how they accent the music, fill in the sound, and make the supporting sound to the soloist sound like ear candy. Honestly, they don’t have any songs that are not perfection. I believe their Disney Love Medley is their Highest viewed vid and the one most reacted to, but then again, one listen and you will know why, it’s Voctave! (And btw, the name comes from the group covering 5 octaves, V is the Roman numeral for 5, so V octave, or Voctave.) Jeremy Michael Lewis came up with that when he and Kirstin Maldonado were featured in the Disney Love Medley. (And yes they were engaged at the time so the chemistry between them is real.) So please do a lot more Voctave. It doesn’t matter which ones you do. They are all incredible.

I thought the “lean” of the second lead (Tiffany) matched perfectly with the lyrical moment in the song and matched the movement of the music - it read to me as very soulful. Which is nice in contrast to the first lead (Kate) which was very classical.

Nice reaction! :) Welcome to the amazing Voctave rabbit hole you are about to go down!! Voctave takes pride in never using auto-tune in anything they record/do and those that have seen them live are blown away by the fact they sound just like their videos/cds They all are singing or have sung with Voices of Liberty at Epcot In Disney World and credit that for teaching them how to rehearse on their own and then when they come together in studio, they have the song down in just a couple of run-throughs.
Jamey Ray is the genius behind the songs .
Tiffany Coburn ,who sang the second song, has been called a singer's singer and has performed at the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and performed with the Boston Pops and all over the planet. She has terrific range and shapes the sound of how she sings something,on purpose.
Kate Lott is the amazing soprano and other opera performers and teachers even say "WOW" when they hear her.
Just a few songs to check out :
The Great Movie Medley( all songs composed by the great John Williams)
Mary Did You Know featuring THE MAN who wrote the original lyrics, Mark Lowery
Oh Come All Ye Faithful with the incredible tenor E.J. Cardona
The very short, but amazing Stampede, from The Lion King
The Virtual video of You Will Be Found ( singing with over 900 people from 55 different countries)
Disney Show Stoppers featuring 3 of the men
The absolutely outstanding Prince of Egpyt .

The high soprano is Kate Lott. She is classically trained. The wide vowels she sings are modified vowels. Otherwise, if she adds the diphthongs, she is in danger of losing pitch.

Yeah, there's a quite substantial time gap from Sleeping Beauty to Little Mermaid. I wanna say thirty years, give or take. I think I was older when Little Mermaid came out, than my parents were when Sleeping Beauty came out. (I was born in '74, my parents in '49 and '51). Or to put it another way, Sleeping Beauty was before the Beatles got together, and by the time Little Mermaid came out, Michael Jackson's career was over. That is quite a jump.
The thing is, I can't think of a single Disney animated movie from the era in between there, that features a _princess_ as the main character. The closest is Maid Marian, but she's not exactly the star of the show, and nobody remembers the music from Robin Hood anyway. Mary Poppins is some kind of weird cross between a babysitter and a superhero. Jessica Rabbit is... well, whatever she is, she's not exactly what you think of when somebody says "Disney Princess" in any event. Mowgli is a boy raised by wolves. The Rescuers, no princess, just orphans. Pete's Dragon, no princess. Winnie the Pooh, no princess. Oliver, no princess. The Fox and the Hound, no female characters at all as far as I remember. Basically, there's an entire generation of people, who grew up thinking the whole princess thing was outmoded and old-fashioned, a relic from a bygone era, no longer a part of our culture, no longer an important element in our stories... And then the nineties kids come along and for some reason want to be princesses again.
I doubt if it's a coincidence. Disney has a knack for animating the stories that their audience wants to watch. There's probably some cultural reason why the princess narrative fell out of favor and then came back a generation later.
