I'm not ashamed to say that even though I'm a big burly manly man, this performance makes me cry every time I watch it. I do feel better to see that it makes you tear up as well. As others have said, their version of Mary did you know is one of the best pieces of music I have ever experienced.

There’s something magical about watching you cry at music. It’s like you’re showing on the outside how I’m feeling on the inside and that’s a special gift. Kinda like what music does.

The arrangement is linked by the dreams of the princesses. It proceeds not only chronologically from classic Disney to more modern work, but the dreams of the princesses actually get more mature too. The first two look for the classic dream of a man to come & save them, Ariel dreams of agency for herself, Mulan reflects on what following her dreams may do to others & Pocahontas tells us that actually, it's not even about us. The progression of the voices reflects a progression to adulthood from childhood too. In the end though, the arrangement resolves back to the childish dreams to remind that it's ok to dream sometimes & that we're all just kids deep inside.

One of Voctave's best and most emotional for me is still "Mary did you know" featuring the original song writer Mark Lowry. Goosebumps all the time

Agreed. Glad to see this comment. I think she'd really appreciate this song, and hopefully she'll do it, if not now, maybe for the holiday season. I think all of their Christmas stuff is really good, but Mary Did You Know is the best.

    • @TheSeeking2know
      @TheSeeking2know 2 роки тому +8

Yes I truly enjoyed that. The searching, almost pleading, add always reverent tone of Mr. Lowry with a rich warm timbre really made that song!
It was like the perfect voice to express those lyrics. The fact it was done a Cappella was the cherry on top.

Voctave is, imo, the definition of group vocal insanity. Every single one of them is ridiculously amazing and talented and their voices mesh soooo well for an acapella group of that size. And on top of that, i have had to pleasure of meeting a couple of them and they all seem to be amazing and wonderful human beings on top of ridiculously talented.

Your "conductor's" name is Tony DeRosa. He is also a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society's International Quartet Championship group, Main Street (2017). All four members have been or are currently performing at Walt Disney World, with the Dapper Dans. They are absolutely a blast to watch. Funny, witty and entertaining. Started following them in 2011. Watched them over the years, placing 5th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd and then winning the International Title in 2017. Roger Ross - tenor, Tony DeRosa - lead, Mike McGee - baritone and Myron Whittlesey - bass. I hope you take some time to view some of their many videos on UA-cam. If these men can't make you smile or laugh, then you must have a dead spot somewhere in you. They always bring a smile to my face and just make you want to sing along. While we are here, Voctave also has several videos and compilations out there in UA-cam land to enjoy. I think you would particularly enjoy the one with guest singer, Kirsten Maldonado (from Pentatonix) joining them. Thank you FVM for your posts. I always get a kick out of watching you, enjoying watching others sing.

It's only someone who can and has sung, one that has made that spiritual connection with music in such a way as to be overwhelmed by the emotional Tsunami that washes over one's self in those extra special moments, it is only one that has known this that can give a reaction to a Voctave song such as this and do it real Justice. Allowing yourself to feel the magic and share THAT with us, that makes for a great reaction! I'd definitely be here for some more Voctave! "Great Movie Medley" or "Mary did you know?" or "Disney Love Medley" would be a few that come to mind.

As much as I detest when you totally interrupt the flow of the song to give your opinion on what we've just heard making some of us want to stop the whole thing. You are AMAZING! My mother was a trained Welsh soprano. She did high notes like that. Dad was a bass. Me ....bass, but since I'm a worship leader, I've learned to add a couple more octaves to my range. I tried leading songs an octave lower, but immediately found that put a damper on the overall mood. So I learned to do a lot of head voice blending and mixing. So I guess I've got some of my dad's German bass as well as my mother's Welsh tenor together. She always wanted a Welsh tenor. They both sing with the angels now. Keep up the incredible reactions. I love Pentatonix and the Righteous Brothers oh and David Phelps reactions. Yes, as a bass I'm fascinated by tenors🙄

I watch your videos knowing they will cause the same emotions you are experiencing because your reactions are pure and heartfelt. I watch alot of the music teacher reaction channels, and none of them are as in touch with their emotional journey as you are. And thank you for being so genuine and wonderful to watch.

7:28 brings me to tears. It sounds like, a perfectly tuned pipe organ. All the people getting a chance to shine, and each one standing out. Amazing. Perfect...harmony. Well done Voctave.

Please please please react to "O come all ye faithful"! You've seen the greatness of the female singers in this video, you need to see E.J. absolutely crush a solo part in this song. It really shows that every single singer in this group, male or female, is absolutely outstanding.

Wow...love your pure joy you show in giggles, smiles, amazement, and tears of the ridiculous talent the "Voctivians" demonstrate. I go through the same emotions every time I watch their videos. That soprano...chills. You must continue to ride the acapela train into the deep rabbit hole it will take you. So many stops you can make. Voctave is pure talent, Geoff and Voiceplay are fun, Home Free, Peter Hollins & Avi..Black is the Color...haunting ..Love your videos! I have now commented 3x's in a row to your videos. I am not a creepy boogie uncle, I promise. Your videos are very well done with a ton of education and the purity and joy is infectious. You should host your own BBC/PBS style show like Captain Kangaroo, or Mr Wizard, or fill in the blanks.🥲 You have that same intangible quality. Thank You!

I will pre comment, you need to listen to voctave with Mark Lowery, he wrote the song Mary did know and there version of it is great. Mark can really sing.
I love your channel by the way, I listen to a lot of theses types of channels but if I want to know what they are doing there is no one better. Plus you crack me up I find myself smiling the whole video

Lovely reaction FVM! Hearing these Disney Princess songs, one after the other, astonishingly arranged by the incomparable Jamey Ray (he's the one standing just to the left of the 'conductor'), and performed to perfection, can be overwhelming, as you discovered for yourself. (Be assured, many of us shed a few tears along with you.) Voctave is a vocal treasure! The world is such a better place with them in it! More reactions to Voctave please!

First things first, it is so refreshing to see and hear a vocal coach who not only knows what they are talking about but also has a GREAT voice and can accurately demonstrate what they are explaining.
Secondly , the laugh cry reaction while listening to this is the appropriate reaction lol. Still gets me and I’m a grown a** man haha

People who dont LOVE harmony dont understand how something like this could bring one to tears. they think "its just people singing". You have to love harmony to truly experience this. Im a 56 year old man, retired cop, who is not ashamed to admit it made me cry, just from the pure blending of all the levels of singers. Amazing.

This was one of my favorite reaction / critique that I have watched you do. Your reaction was as emotional as hearing the Disney songs arranged in such a BEAUTIFUL performance. Might I offer a suggestion for you to critique America's Got Talent. Performer from the last episode. Merissa Beddows. She did some impressions of singers that was really outstanding. Always enjoy watching your reaction to artist but more the critique on how they do what they do.

Sorry, I'm a little late to the game in assessing this reaction, but as usual you were both informative and entertaining in your review. Voctave is pretty okie dokie, huh!?! Well, if you're looking for a few more suggested Voctave offerings, I recommend Mary, Did You Know featuring Mark Lowry, the original lyricist, Disney Showstoppers, which features several of the men in the group, O Come All Ye Faithful, featuring E J Cardona, one of their fantastic tenors, or Prince of Egypt (recording, not a video) which highlights the group's overall singing excellence. Those suggestions don't even scratch the surface of their catalogue.
Again, I very much look forward to more of your reactions of Voctave (and while we're talking phenomenal a cappella, please feel free to check out anything from Pentatonix, VoicePlay and Home Free). Laisez les bontemps roulez!!!
