@Ann C yeah I know I took care of my godfathers parents who had / have dementia the father has passed but mother is still kickin. It was so physically demanding and exhausting but yeah hopefully her grandma doesn’t need much help and hopefully Chantal is able to do what she can. For grandma.

Thing is a lot of these haydur nation channels go to extreme lengths to find stuff to nitpick about, and very often they "criticize" things that aren't even toxic. On one video criticizing ALR, the author made hateful comments about ALR buying several books at once. "Who does that? Only degenerates that don't enjoy reading books and are addicted to hoarding would buy so many books at once! Gorl just buy one book, read it, then buy the next lmfao"
That was such a dumb comment. A lot of book-lovers buy several books in one go. There's a whole subreddit dedicated to book hauls. That's like telling gamers "just buy one game at a time or else you're a degenerate". Wtf is the point of that criticism???
That, and the moral high horse that many haydur nation channels straddle is what is convincing more and more people of their fakeness. They aren't giving constructive criticism to ALR, Chantal, etc.; they aren't supporting others that are obese nor preventing them from falling in the same eating disorder / food-binge-enabling trap; they aren't even engaging in drama over something worth debating. They built this community that is obsessed with taking a magnifying glass to two unusual women who are far from being saints, for reasons I can't exactly explain -- some are in it to motivate themselves to lose weight, others think it's a fascinating trainwreck in progress, but many are in it in order to make themselves feel better by comparing themselves to these women and saying "yep, I'm thinner, I have a cool family, I'm better at make-up, I'm infinitely cooler than these two."
But this only really works if you're good enough at hiding your own flaws, or you deftly avoid criticizing ALR and Chantal for things that you yourself might be guilty of. This is where many people draw the line with channels like Charlie Gold and Young Dumb Honey Bun. Charlie kept bugging ALR for weigh-ins, but postpones her own; YDHB claims to be a psychology/psychiatry student and waves her degree around, but gives terrible advice on mental health, is aggressively and offensively critical, and often mispronounces the terminology of her own alleged profession. This is where the accusations of fakeness and hypocrisy stem from. The Sovereign had also called out Charlie Gold for abusing the "racist" card altogether often (which she did months ago as well, some time during the Gaining Grounds controversy). It's one thing to call a person racist for referring to you as "coal" or "criminal-looking"; it's another thing to pull out the racist card in the same week as George Floyd was murdered, and proceed to make more ALR/Chantal videos while ignoring the BLM movement. Even Zach here has done his part to spread the word and support for BLM and various organizations supporting the anti-racist protests and (BIPOC) LGBTQ+ folks.
I guess what many of the critics of the "haydurs" are getting at, is that while being over 500 lbs, malnourished, a spendthrift, rude and lewd are well worthy of criticism, there's nevertheless a threshold of respectability that shouldn't be crossed. Zach doesn't cross it, but many feel that many other haydur nation channels have done so, and by doing so have dragged themselves down the level of ALR and Chantal (if not lower). It cannot be denied that even someone who is white can clearly see that calling a black woman "Charlie Coal" is going to be interpreted as racist. Even if it is because her "soul" is black, anyone at face value is gonna see that as a jab at her race. I am not denying that there are plenty of things to criticize Charlie Gold about. I stopped watching the gorls around April. I agree that the community got really toxic and especially hateful. While they are problematic, they are still human. Thank you for reacting to this video, Zach, as I feel that this is a topic that needs to be discussed. I'm not a fan of Charlie's content, but not being a fan doesn't automatically mean I agree with Chantal's feelings/blatantly racist comments. We need to have more discussions about this type of behavior or we will never grow as a community or as a generation.

yeah...not a fan of Chantal, in fact I used to be a fan of Charlie Gold before the controversy.
HOWEVER I went back to Charlie Gold's channel a few days ago and YIKES.
It is pretty bad. She's incredibly rude and toxic, more so than before. She silently watches Chantals videos, pausing to say the meanest of shit, and when she's not talking you can see her seething throughout. It's uncomfortable to watch.
Chantal is not innocent either. Chantal should see the implications of using the word 'coal' when describing black people and apologize, explain her intentions, then use a word that is more acceptable and won't be misunderstood as describing the color of her skin.
They're both as bad as each other. Although I think with the way things are going, if Chantal does indeed collect some clips of Charlie's 'commentary' and forward it to youtube, she has a good case to take Charlie's channel down on the grounds of it being bullying and harrassment.
I think it's the opposite. Chantal has much less chances of terminating Charlie's channel after her last videos with repeated racist micro aggressions. What's more, for youtube she will soon become the racist mukbanger that is falsely copyright striking channels and insulting reactors. Charlie is the harassing bullying reactor that insults fat mukbangers. Both channels look like trash to youtube. Exactly! This is why the main comments Chantal complains about are from almost a year ago. Charlie hasn’t been harsh at all lately. Truth hurts and Chantal has never had anyone tell her to honestly look in the mirror and see herself as she truly is.
