I learn so many of the songs Phil plays...Seriously introduces me to so much awesome stuff i nearly missed.
Anyone else?
Phil is THE fucking man, full of licks and plays em like a king
LOVE PhilX! Such an entertainer and 'free spirit'! I want to be like HIM when I don't grow up!
Man! i was waiting for this! MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN!!!
plz play some more rainbow phil !
Sir, thanks for answering ALL my questions on this beastie. You own Rock. And Funk knows it.
Just an immense talent! Can shred AND sing. Personality for days also!!!
Enjoyed every note, every riff. Thanks Phil for playing many fav classics in one take!
ahh when I heard the feedback near the end of the video I was like "OH please transition into Foxy Lady!!" and when you did it was perfect.
Phil X you are the man!
His purple face while singing Dio, is great.
Thanks FrettedAmericana for posting this dedication.Dio was amazing.
Juicy interprétation of foxey lady, love it !
It sounds like a frying pan made of....... *heavy metal*
Actually, aluminum is a very "light" metal. So much for your "heavy" metal moniker.
Matt Bellamy of Muse had one of these!
Apparently he got it for something ridiculous like £200 from one of the sound guys
So?
Ten years gone..R.I.P. Ronnie :)🎤
A really cool, twangy sound from that axe. I imagine the all-metal body gives it that much more brightness in tone.
That's Paganini's "Fifth Caprice". Never seen is played quite like this. Yngwie has a version of it, and it was part of the guitar duel at the end of the movie "Crossroads".
That was Steve Vai, actually
Phil you are wildly entertaing!!!!
1994...my birth year, man.
August was my birth month 94 is my birth year. I think this was my guitar!
WANT IT......
DUDE you have the BEST job in the world.
Yes, awesome crazy solo in the Dio song.
Phil X was born to entertain us! Really cool.
@krypttdk
if i was psychic and would have known he was going to pass the very next day, i would have dedicated a whole video to him. LONG LIVE THE ROCK OF DIO!
i have 2 strat plus`s (with lace sensors) and they are amazing gee tars! great pickups
Versatile Ax man!
damn dude you sing in key and rip it up on the guitar.. respect
When you listen to Sonny Sharrock for a while, you can kind of key into what Vernon Reid's soloing is all about. Harmelodic.
RIP DIO haven't known you long (because of tenacious D) but as long as i knew you i loved you
THE CULT OF PERSONALITYY!!!! YEEAAH
Xandis you ROCK, man !
rip John English
Man, you rock.
at last another strat video! i had enough from those LPs~
R.I.P Dio.
@ZepIV It was in the Crossraods duel! :D
Phil made Malcolm Youngs frustrated face at 3:35. Every time Angus goes into a key during a solo too early Mal gives him that face haha
@TheDistortionist
we filmed this on saturday and he passed sunday morning.
rainbow in the drak!!!!great theme!!!!
Love all your vids man, can't get enough!! Hey I bought a Magnatone Troubador 213 in mint condish!! Arrives in the next few days. Question is- what speaker does your Tonemaster have? Rumour has it that its some sort of old ceramic Jensen, do you concur?? Would a Greenback be similar or should I look at a Jensen like yours?? Thanks Phil!!!!
Man On A Silver Mauntain - Dude DO MORE PLEASE! xD
Looks like it’s supposed to be like the old national resonators. Some of them had engravings like that on the body.
PHILX #FTW
R.I.P. Ronnie
ITS A LIGHT SHOW LOOKOUT!!!
awesome singing dude
Phil, one day soon you will be in movies.
@TheDistortionist there was a rumor that he died in the days right before he died, and his wife said that he was alive saturday night, but then he died just a few hours after that :(
what a funky Canadian!!
Dio went from a metal mortal to a Metal Fucking God!!!
ok, what's the song at 3:30? I recognize it, but have no clue as to what it's called... Awesome job as usual, Phil! I love the Aloha strat...
Your rockin it hard as usual ! I Jam on many and Love few ! Great job Phil as usual ! Love Reaper customs on facebook ! We custom paint guitars ! Mike Learn knows Katie here! ,..........Keep it up !
Even with the hollow aluminium body this strat sounds great. Maybe this shows that the body has a small influence on tone when the neck is bolted on?
@EJRocky
we've mentioned a few times that this was shot the day before Ronnie passed.
is there anything PhilX can't play? Such an awesome talent
Finger picking apparently
RIP Dio...
I would have loved to hear "Secret Agent Man" on this guitar and the Fender Tweed. Not sure if I could deal with the low output (what ever happened to the LPB line booster?) but it has some cool tones.
i would actually kill for that guitar.....
R.I.P. Dio )':
hookup with some hip clothing sponsorship deal - those trousers are so Sunday Brunch with the Fam.
I didn't know there were such things as metal guitars..
This dude is damn good!
:)
OH MY GOD...
R.I.p dio
You guys caught the crossroads thing (which I love) but it's more of a take on it. 2 octaves lower & in G instead of A so the open strings can ring out & cause that dissonance that makes some people crash their cars.
:o it soo shiney
Matthew Bellamy a joué sur le Live au Zenith de Paris en 2001 sur cette guitare.
Hullabaloo
@rocker9911 its The Man on the Silver Mountain of Rainbow
@LoveGuitarS2 : it's "bringin' on the heartbreak", by Def Leppard
Saw Vernon Reid front row once, killer playa
rip RJD :|
I just knew him from that one part of the tenacious D movie
thats a really really really cool guitar though. REALLY cool
Very Good and Thick sounding guitar Q: p
Loved the TONE
Q: )
Superstition sounded AMAZING.
@blindchicken2001 the chord that lead to the feedback is the same chord as in Foxy Lady(Funk 49 too)
bringing on the heartbreak
Phil, when are you going to do a club tour and come back to Canada?
I want one!
my mind is fucking blown.
its kinda wierd how someone requested dio right before he died... but dio was pretty well worshipped guy
RIP Dio
its a light show! look out! haha dude thats a sick guitar... you should really do a gibson byrdland though
CROSSROADS GUITAR DUEL!! Thats what 3.30 is, It came to me today!! Impossible stuff!! Cant belive i forgot that!! duhh! :P
@atvmaster7111 because the 12th fret is special^^
do you think phil could do a jackson guitar review oneday?
@NeilFraudstrong The weird thing is, Phil didn't even know Ronnie was sick when he did this.
killer foxy lady!
Amazing unknown song at 3:30 !
phil, you, dave grohl, and jack black need to get together for a project
man, the riff in 2:22 is awesome! What's that!??¿? Thx Phil! :D
keep using that tweed deluxe!
@NeilFraudstrong Same here. Dio was a one of a kind guy.
@eightoneone
actually it's just a regular jensen c12-R but it sounds so amazing because it's fatigued as fuck. i've put so many hours on it i've been told it could blow at any time which sucks but it's the way of the ROCK.
@crysisgamer81 Remember what Ralph Macchio was playing in Crossroads? An octave lower and slower.
@guy007man : it's "rainbow in the dark"
dude screw dio he NAILED LIVING COLOUR
@ClassicShotMK3...Agreed.
phil, can you do a vid with some other guitars like a pvation breadwinner or maybe some peaveys or music mans
That was great. How's the sustain for this guitar?
hey can you play that cool blue SG with the wahmmy thing in the corner
Guitar is beautiful..whats the price?
It's a light show! LOOK OUT!!!
Wow you sing like a legend and play better.
dude at 2:47 that so reminds me of the show home movies.
@IHIollywood no.. he just used fender strats
