This 1964 Candy Apple Red 'custom color 'Jazzmaster weighs 8.10 lbs. and has a nut width of just under 1 11/16 inches and a scale length of 25 1/2 inches. Solid alder body, one-piece maple neck with a very comfortable medium profile. Veneer rosewood fretboard with 21 frets and inlaid clay dot position markers. Matching Candy Apple Red maple headstock with decal with Fender "Spaghetti" logo. Individual single-line Kluson Deluxe tuners with oval metal buttons stamped on the underside "D-169400 / Patent No.". Four-bolt neck plate with serial number between the top two screws. The neck is stamped "4 DEC 63B". Two hot Jazzmaster pickups (large white rectangular six-polepiece pickups) with very outputs of 8.36k and 7.73k. Three-layer white / black / white 'green' celluloid pickguard with thirteen screws. Two controls (master volume, master tone) with white plastic knobs, plus three-way pickup selector switch and jack socket on the treble side of the pickguard, two roller knobs (volume, tone) plus two-way circuit selector (rhythm/lead) slide switch on the bass side of the pickguard. Jazzmaster bridge and integrated tailpiece and tremolo. The guitar has been expertly re-fretted with the correct gauge fretwire. There is an area of wear on the back (approximately 4 x 1 1/4 inches) and several other places on the back and sides of the body where that paint has chipped off. All said, this totally original pre-CBS guitar (apart from the re-fret) is in excellent plus (8.75) condition. Complete with the original tremolo arm. Housed in its original Fender cream Tolex case with black leather ends and dark orange plush lining (8.75).

I don't know why but something kept bringing me back to this bit over the years...
RIP Eddie. I'm here once again, this time to celebrate his legacy by listening to Phil make him justice. 💪💜🎶🎸🙏
Me too
Still entertaining over decade later, love this guy!
lol yeah
i remember being ok with his style, watching his videos as a kid
but now i find him full on entertaining
The Jazzmaster sounds definitely better than any strat I heard in his vid's.
Am I the only one who watches these demos to hear Phil singing more than for the guitars? :D
ConnorFGuitar Probably.
+Connor Flys Nope, as a reviewer Phil is pretty moderate, but as an entertainer he is great!
NS.....playing is great fun, but man....if I could sing like that!!!!
Am I alone in watching 50 of Phil X's Git vid's in a row?
Just found them...haven't stopped smiling.....
All the nirvana fans going: "Duuuuuuuude!" *middle fingers*;
Phil, you never fail to crack me up!
i was having a bad day but i think this already changed my life.... yet again.
When ever I’m feel down and a complete failure on guitar I go whatch a Phil X video and I remember why I do this! CAUSE ITS SO DAMN FUN Thanks PHILX!!!
Almost 12 years ago, but this just made my night. Every Phil x fretted Americana video is a treasure. You make guitar playing look so much fun.
The energy and charisma of this guy is inspiring!! Phil X is living the dream !! And he is a beast on any axe he picks up.
4:52 nice tribute to Soundgarden and Chris Cornell, rest in peace Spoonman 🌈🌄🌊😍
Yes and he didn't even know it,Chris was still alive when they made this video. And yes a huge loss.
I would buy a ticket just to see Phil demo guitars. He can play every song you ever heard in his sleep.
i love jazzmasters so much there is nothing better lol
you either changed something in the way you record stuff or this guitar is simply out of this world.. even you lost your words because of its greatness :))))
That Van Halen cover @ 7:42 was siiiick!
WOOOOT!!! JAZZMASTER!!!! Sounds SICK!! Thanks, Phil!
I don't particularly watch these videos because of the particular guitars, but mostly because Phil plays such badass songs that have been out there for a long time, but of which I haven't heard before! :D
HOLY CRAP THAT GUITAR IS GORGEOUS!!
Now that is a beautiful guitar
This is my fav vid of phil X. It kills me at 2:30, when is covering nirvana "I don´t know a single word of this song", "I know all the fans are like... dude!".... And the final van halen intro it´s amazing. This is the way to demo a guitar. Cause in the middle of all that it said all the specs of the jazz.... and explain the controls. So Phil, you really rock. I´m your absolut fan.
Phil X is the greatest guitarist alive.
Phil most love this axe. Long review, not too much talking, just pure epic playing.
I love the end of the Van Halen part :D I love Phil!
Now THAT is a tone, man!
best chris cornell impression ever
Phil is the quintaessential youtube guitar God...
This guy is a legend!
Phil is the best guitar demo expert on UA-cam, great personality, cheerful, knowledgeable about guitars, etc.
That thing sounds GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been watching him for months and I still do it
that nut strum was masterful.
i want to be able to sing and play complicated rhythms just like phil!
Truly inspired. That was great!
Phil always makes me as happy as the Jazzmaster's tremolo arm.
He's crazy man. Just bat s**t crazy. Had to rewind and re-watch ( re-listen ) to so many parts of this clip, it took my half an hour to get through it.
This is a work of art, and not just the guitar
the first 2 songs he played had me having flash backs to guitar hero II
Fuck yeah! Phil x + soundgarden = 200 % awesomeness!
I have a new dream - to go to Santa Monica and Phil know X's!
i love soundgarden and jazzmasters YES YES YES YES YES
SPOONMAN!!!! :) YES
Phil X should be the new guitar player in SOUNDGARDEN :)
One of the best fretted vids ever! Man that tone
PHIL SHOULD RECORD AN ENTIRE COVER ALBUM OF ORIGINAL 1990S GRUNGE ROCK BANDS : MUDHONEY, NIRVANA, PIXIES, SOUNDGARDEN, AND PEARL JAM :)

JAZZMASTER!! awesome!
That's really the guitar of my dreams.
Ok, now I will have a kick ass day...because Phil told me to.
I wish these videos had a list of the songs played written in the description, as it seems everything phil plays pure fuckin gold:)
"barking" fantastic player! Thanks Phil X.
Not gonna lie he made spoon man sound so much better
Yeah, love the assortment of music! Great GEETAR too!
1:34 - behind the nut. Awesome! :) :)
@yy76 he picks one of the strings above the nut and gets a nice harmonic sound. he doesnt even miss a beat!
What phil meant to say is in the [brackets]:
"...fender's version of like a p/90 pick-up... it's just a single coil that's wound really... [flat and wide, and the coils wrap around quite a bit. I cant' remember how many rotations, but either way its]...like a whole lot"
That's Surrender! I *bark* love that song Phil!
did phil just play nirvana on a red jazz master??? GENIUS!!
That spoonman was incredible!
They played it years ago. It's called at Les Paul Spotlight Special. Super rad, too!
Hey Phil X! Kurt plays Jaguars, Mustangs, Stratocasters, Tellies, the guitar he designed the Jag-Stang, Univox guitars, he used to have a GIbson SG, a few Epiphone Les Pauls, and of course his Ibanez, Epiphone Texan, and Martin acoustics.
and also some of his guitars were Fiesta Red, i dont know about Candy Apple Red, but Fiesta for sure.
You rock Phil!
I cant imagine these videos without Phil X... they would be so boring without him XD
@EvanThomasD We used the Tonemonster AKA the EVIL ROBOT™ for the first couple videos, to premier the wicked sound of it... and to tease all of you.
There will be a whole new set of videos coming featuring the amp. We did run into some © and ™ issues with Fender who bought Magnatone, so we did change the name but the Amp will still be a Monster!!! stay tuned! -FA
sounds great!!!!!!!
its about effin time, ive been waiting for ages for another video
i love spoonman, and that was AWSOOOMMEEE
This is awesome, I love Fender, last night I was playing my Fender Squire OBEY with my Fender Strap which says "Jesus Used Fender"
Phil X is fucking EPIC he is so AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
I'm not that into of Jazzmasters, but christ, this one sounds SWEET!
they need to have phil record all of the covers he does and create an album of just amazingness.
I think one could sum up Phil X in four words: He is the shit.
Woman in Love!! Awesome!!!!
The Jag's are my absolute fav since i got my new Jaguar Thinline Special edition :D WOO !
PhilX is in a grunge mood
Phil, I love the reviews, your repertoire, your knowledge and enthusiasm is great !! Never give it up!
BTW, this has got to be one of the best sounding axes you have ever played. YOU MADE ME A BELIEVER! And I'm a Gibson man!
@jagjaghuh sometimes YT is a little janky like that.. sorry... we usually put out a new vid on Fridays!
thank you i needed another vid!!
@bash5995 - The Mustang intended to be a student guitar. It has an offset waist that closely resembles the Jazzmaster and Jaguar. After the release of the Mustang, Fender redesigned its other existing student guitars, the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic, using the Mustang body shape. These were named the Musicmaster II and Duo-Sonic II.
That guitar sounds fucking amazing.
@bash5995 - The Jaguar was based on the Jazzmaster with the same body shape and tremolo. The Jaguar is shorter, 24-inch scale, 22-fret neck, smaller single coil pickups with notched side plates to improve shielding. The Jaguar also has a second lead circuit consisting of three switches on the lower bout.
7:42 - 8:12 yep i'm blown away!
"Yea it's got a really long arm. This guy's happy" You guys are hilarious
you're not happy til i'm not happy - the drills- phil x's band
My favorite fretted americana video.
Even though i dont really like the guitar, lol
DAMN i love that Jazzmaster wish i could get one! :D
@bushbirdland when u put ur finger on a fret u can basically play the string right from tht finger and left from it. ure not supposed to play it on the left (facing the headstock) but tht way u can create tht sound.
i'm going to have a kick ass day just because phil X told me to :)
Soundgarden is amazing
yes the thing that he does on 1:34 is that he strums the string over the nut really fast .
RIP Chris Cornell
1:27 1:37 that´s what I call style...
playing guitar is FUN!
Those other guitars arent there for display, they are waiting inline to sleep with Phil.....awesome lol
