Hi Darren, Excel expert here, if you're interested you can choose an x,y scatter graph instead of a line graph, and Excel will be able to calculate the formula for the slight curve in the power graph. Could be interesting to see.

Ok, about the maths of the power curve:
    1. According to the wiki, the power curve is is a polynomial of degree 1.321928. That means it is not exponential and it is not linear. The growth is something between linear and exponential, namely polynomial.
    2. Regarding overclocking and underclocking: When you have a fixed number of machines for a fixed number of input resources and you want to minimize power consumption, the optimal way is always to balance the load equally to all machines and set them all to the same clockspeed. So for example, setting 10 machines to 96% consumes less power than 8 machines at 100% and 2 machines at 80%. The difference might be very small in practice, like in our example it is about 0.06 MW. For a proof that balancing the load equally is optimal, check out Jensen's inequality, that is basically exactly the statement that we need.

Technically polynomials are linear. If you've taken linear algebra you know it uses polynomials of all degrees. It's just not straight lines.

@@ryanscott73 You mean the other way around? Linear functions are technically also polynomials (of degree 1). But I have never heard of someone using the term "linear" for polynomials of degree higher than 1.

@@NLogSpace yep you're right my bad. The linear part of linear algebra is more to deal with making linear transformations on vector spaces.

You can always use diluted fuel to make even more turbo fuel. Most people stop at diluted fuel so they don't have to find sulfur to bring into the power plant.

Hi Darren, keep up the good work with the videos and streams! Haven't watched all of this one yet so sry if you've already started this.
And sry to make a long "negative" comment as my first (meant to be for the greater good) but i'm gonna be one more guy asking you to look deeper into the Dimensional Depot.. you're gonna look back at this time and think about how you didn't explore the new features of the game. The impact are HUGE and i didn't really see it at first but now after playing a while i can feel it, it's insane upgrades.
Right now I watch your stream on and off while playing myself and to hear you say "oh, have to go and get some more "insert all material all the time here"" is getting kinda old.. it doesn't matter if more are in the same area, still saves both time and focus, 1.0 is released. Dimensional Depot is available from the very start of the game and Mercy Sphears are everywhere, just use the object scanner and you will find hundreds. 3-4 hours of gathering a stack will save you 100+ hours. And do it on stream, nothing boring with some exploration :).
Worrying about leaving lootcrates..? Well, keep your inventory clean then :).
Edit: I regret this comment, but i got fed up buy you arguing against Dimensional Depot and talking about it like an endgame feature.
Keep ut the good work! I really enjoy your videos of several games you play and I've learned a lot! :)

Completely agree, it doesn't even take 3 hours, I explored for 90 minutes, got enough Mercer Spheres for the first 2 upgrades and a dimensional storage for each of the materials I was making. This was exploring with ladders and a parachute so it would be even quicker with power towers and the jet pack.

I think depots are great! I use 5 of em at the moment. But I’d rather spend my time building than hunting for spheres. My guess is CSS didnt expect people to traverse the map for 5hrs then start building, I tend to go out looking every time im done with a build. And no problem for a negative or critical comments, Its all good, better than staying silent or stopping watching and me wondering what i did wrong!

@@WhatDarrenPlays Mate its simple :) stop bloody muckin about and spend an hour or two talking to chat about developing Manorlords and getting your dimensional storage setup on all of your resources.
If you love building, you can build indefinitely once it's setup!

On the whole of different blue print designer sized, I've been using them delineate tiers of materials. All my Mk1 blueprints I use the 4x4 and steel belts, 5x5 aluminum, etc. Also encourages me to update the ones I have, since I make a ton of mistakes on them.

I think you should stream the exploration and gathering of mercer spheres just like you stream building. It's content! I like seeing you playing all parts of the game. This comment is just reference to something you mentioned during the stream about farming mercer spheres off stream getting them ready for streams.

Wonderful stream, thanks for the great content! Very easy to relax to and do something else on the side. I did have to skip the exponential power segment though, hearing chat confuse you over something so simple made me exponentially more angry :P

Maybe put all the Dimensional Depot comments into I don't know a Dimensional Depot and move on and ignore them.

hey Darren, im enjoying your live vods, catching up. 1:25:00 you wanna have 15.3333 machines so you divide 15.333 by 16 equals 95.8%. hope it helps
