I personally would keep Copper Refineries, Keterium Refineries and Sheet Factory on one side. And Light Switches, Pumps and Sinks on another side. Especially as both Pumps and Sings go down. And it would simply look way batter having them aligned.
"I said it wasnt gonna be that complicated, I straight up lied." This line got me lmao, love this series and this build is everything i was hoping for and more. Awesome video
I'm an electrician. What you've done with your "cable runners" would be very similar to a bus duct if the metal beams themselves were the conductors rather than the wires. Each continuous cable going back to each disconnect (switch) represents a circuit. The room with all the switches is pretty analogous to a switchgear.
Hey Darren, I thought I'd share a way to use power outlets vertically. You can use a beam horizontal across the floor, rotate it, and attach a wall outlet on either side, from there you just connect the outlets to each other, and delete the beam if you want.
Keep it up Darren, your attention to detail is phenomenal. FYI - The giant billboards work as an amazing replacement for those old vanilla lights with the 'fog rays'. The light bounces and does all the good stuff. I dont use vanilla lights ever anymore. Cheers & Happy Holidays!
This is the GOAT series of Satisfactory! For ppl keep asking "lock hologram", I think it is becoz you didn't mark this as Episode X, so there are new people hopping in every episode without context.
I love the way you found simple, blueprintable power management options, and the belt cutoff is a really nice touch. We really appreciate all the hard work you put into these builds.
Wow, causually just dropping that it's a 7+ hour recording session! Makes me both happier at how slowly I'm progressing through the game and daunting at how I'm gonna struggle when I'm only committing a few hours a week to playing🫨 Loving the series though, so helpful and insightful as well as being enjoyable to watch. Keep up the great work
Hey Darren! Regarding why your trucks are stopping at the Coal truck station, it’s because of the way recording the routes works. Basically, when you record Truck paths, you don’t actually have to stop and press the unload/load key, you only have to go through the « bounding » box of the truck station, and it will automatically create a « Stop node » for the truck. This is why they are stopping at the Coal (refuel) Truck Station. To prevent them from stopping, all you have to do is hop on all of your trucks, show the paths, physically walk to the yellow stop sign under the truck station, interact with it, and delete it. They should still get refuelled, but they won’t stop.
Yeah I was actually experimenting with this, and once I noticed the node I removed it…. However it seems the trucks try to avoid the bounding box of the station, trying to go around or glitching through it, so I think I’ll probably just feed the coal over to the other stations, or, just let them stop on their way in as they seem to form a queue anyways which is fine, i was more worried they’d collide at the entrance or block it.
Hum, that’s weird. Could it be because removing the stop node now creates a slightly different path and the interpolation between the previous and next node makes it a bigger turn? To be honest I’m just speculating at this point. Trucks seem to work best when we are not looking at them unfortunately. Anyway, keep up the good work!
New player here who is building along with you on the series, this is one of the most impressive series I’ve seen for teaching players. Yes the coal plant really challenged me as I had never even build a single factory before let alone that big thing but I felt very accomplished and still do when I fix something that messes up with it. I haven’t got to building the copper plant but I can’t wait, it’s gonna teach me so much stuff and take me 100 hours game lol but I’ve been loving it. And hopefully when 1.0 rolls around I’ll maybe start a new world and try my best to do things based on my own design to see what I’ve learned. Loving this though.
The amount of effort is crazy. I'm a big fan of doing power management, so this episode was extra interesting. On the mining enclosures, I actually think this one looks better than the closed ones you made, something about having minimum infrastructure on remote locations appeal more to me.
absolutely love the series, never played satisfactory but watching you plan, build and troubleshoot the different factories gets my engineer brain waaaay excited
Darren, this is masterful / glorious / unhinged / wildly dedicated / extremely impressive. Thank you!! Hope you had a nice holiday time, and travel was gentle to you.
Man, BEST SATISFACTORY VIDEOS ON YT!!!! Your channel is so, so good..... Totally Outstanding! I cannot wait to see what and how you handle an oil base and Oil power. THANK YOU for all these!
You can manage the power lines a lot easier with priority power switches. Just run a main power line through the factory. Then put a priority power switch at each branch to the refinery block. The "A" circuit goes back to the main power line and the "B" circuit to the refinery block. You can then manage the priority power switches from any other priority power switch and turn off the switches remotely. It will allow you to eliminate all those power lines and blueprints for lines.
Hi Darren I don't know if it has been mentioned or if you know, but there is a way to take care of the outlet from the floor to a ceiling to not be a power pole like you are talking about around minute 39 of this video. If you use pillars and stack two on top if each other. So you can see one and one under that then delete the top one you can attach an outlet to the top of the pillar that will be flush with the floor after deleting the top one. 39:12. Then you delete the pillar, and and can put an outlet on the bottom of the foundation directly below then string them together 😊. Hope this helps. Excellent work otherwise
I know I am late to the party for update 8, i haven't played since update 5 so I am excited to get back to it. Thank you so much for all your hard work not just with the video but also all the effort that went into organizing all of the blueprints ect for us to download! Well done sir!
Seriously impressive that you (mostly) pre-planned all of this! The build is turning out really really nice, can't wait to see it after a cosmetic pass. Merry Christmas and happy new year Darren, and thanks for this mega-episode to end off the year!
If you use a beam to cross the gap of the foundation, you can attach a wall outlet to that, makes it look like a floor connection, instead of having the cables going through the floor
Hey Bud, I have a potato PC that in NO WAY OR FORM will be able to play this game. I love following what you do and your effort is noticed. Seriously well done on the planning and execution.
I tried building a warehouse with a row of truck stations, I had a similar issue where tractors driving past a truck station would automatically load/unload. I got annoyed with that (and their incessant getting stuck / physics glitching) and deleted the whole thing lol (using trains now instead... love that they have an actual rail forcing them to behave) edit: by the way, thanks for this holiday-time episode! you're amazing, and all your hard work is very appreciated! hope 2024 is a great year for you
I can’t afford to upgrade or fix my pc of 10 years and it offically broke down and died recently, satisfactory was my comfort game and being able to experience it again has been wonderful, thank you😊
Priority power switches are like having a remote control anywhere you can tab into mains power you can build an additional switch and turn any other switch on and off. I think this would make it easy to do things like turn off belt locks while standing at the fluid buffers watching for the machines to fill up
So, the truck thing: if you drive even close to another station, you need to go back and delete that node before you save the route or it tries to pick up or drop off at every opportunity, not just the ones you planned. Super annoying and means you have to drive every route twice (especially if you're trying to do nice one way systems for your vehicles) because those nodes don't show up until you've completed the path. That said, I am in awe of the scope and planning of your builds. My current strategy is "as small as I can get away with" and "we'll finish the aesthetics later". Happy Christmas!
20:24 "Split Happens" ... I just found that really funny lol. Great video btw! I'm considering doing some vids on Satisfactory myself... I agree, lumen does look really good, except for the shadows...they're just too dark I think.
My biggest takeaway from this as a intermediate player, is that I'm grossly underutilizing awesome sinks. The whole "throw all the ore into the sink when 'off'" is genius.
To address the fluid buffers at the bottom of the build that don't fill until the top ones are full; this I think is because buffers fill according to head lift, so if there isn't head lift, the buffer will fill and its providing head lift will increase and cap at its max when its full. If there is head lift, the buffer will not fill until there is no more room in the rest of the system after it.
Good to see you tackle the lighting. I'm in my first playthough, not following you but picking inspiration in your builds. For now there's only one type of ceiling light and it sucks, and the popular mod that adds more lights doesn't work with Lumen. I went with the metal beam across the ceiling and display attached to it, no power and no extra nasty wires on top of it. And a plus that the metal beam painted as deep black looks like conduit, makes the ceiling more busy.
Loving the build, yes the colours should represent the usage. I think you should start running global illumination now, looks good! Also it shouldn’t be B for basement but G or GF for ground floor or GL ground level.
Hi Darren i love your videos. I just build the first 32 coal generators of the coal power plant but the pipes that go through the ceiling into the generators keeps on breaking. If it’s running after some time there won’t go any water through those parts anymore. But when I replace one of them the three generators in that line will go back on. Do you know how to fix that?
(unsure if this was realized recently or not) the pit stop for fuel does work, you have to have the station set to load but not have anything in it. you could delete the stop on the truck path, but then the truck wont get the fuel, it has to dock for that
Hey Darren, Hope all is well. I'm a recent addition to the Satisfactory Universe and been playing about 4-5 weeks now. I was watching another one of your videos here from the past and remembered I wanted to ask you about the Blueprints [because you bang out lots of them and that's cool] to see what can be done when making "bigger pieces" and placements after the fact. Let me explain: I've made custom sections of Highway sections of road for an Elevated "freeway system" I'm making in preparation for getting trucks and begin making factory locations with truck support. Now my question: Is there a way to "adjust or nudge" huge pieces up or down [not back and forth but literal up and down] because I cannot for the life of me find a specific place out in mid air close or away that'll allow me to LINK my blueprint piece to the existing highway and save myself literal days of time on the build. Any suggestions? - Nyl of ShadowForged.
Great video - thanks... one question - wouldnt it be more easy to start delivering all goods (water and the belts) so all belts are backfilled and than start the machine? so it sould get faster to 100%?
No, water needs to be delivered first. I’d have to write a very long and complicated answer but the way water works in the games means that if the pipes arent full, the flow rate wont be as fast as it should be. Also, the capacity of water is 50 per machine, so if 5 machines consume 200 lets say, but also have 50 capacity each, what ends up happening is that you only fill the first machine intermittently and not the others. You’d only ever fill them if tou made more water than they consumed, and even then itd take very long time. So you want to “prime” machines by filling the water first, fully filling the inventory of each machine and the pipes too. Then activate the belts
@@WhatDarrenPlayssure first water, than the steel or what was it? and after both is delivered and in stock switching on the machines? wouldnt it be faster with the distribution in that way? not sure just was wondering. never mind - i enjoy your satisfactory so much! have a good time
Hey Darren, you figured out the wire clipping thru floor problem, you just only used it on the ceiling lol use the beams to place wall outlets on floor, thats what i be doing lol
I did not realize you could use the nobelisk to clear regular rocks! When v1.0 comes out, I'm going to be SO on top of my game. btw- if you aren't new to the game, would there be a better place to land other than that first area? On one hand, it is the place I'm most familiar with, but on the other hand, materials at the other locations are supposed to be better...
It does the same without pumps. Theres no pressure in Satisfactory so while your logic totally makes sense IRL, in the game it always fills the things at the bottom first. The reason it doesnt with a buffer is because a buffer is actually just a pipe in terms of game logic, so things flow through it like a regular pipe until the water has nowhere else to go but fill the pipe itself.

at 1:52:31 it would not make sense for the tank to fill first as long as you have a pump that empties it constantly.
