    Finally, a video that REALLY explains how to do it instead of some crazy garage guru nonsense that doesn't even show which way the tensioner pully moves. You made my day, and I can't thank you enough. Good work.

    Thank you so much for sharing how to remove the tensioner. I couldn't get that bolt out because it was hitting the wall. I had no idea I had to remove the motor mount to lower the engine just enough to get it out...

    Yet another simple and informative video. Straight to the point and a bit of fun as well, thanks!

    The tensioner shock unbolts from the triangle plate of the belt tensioner assembly. This allows you to remove the whole thing in 2 pieces so you don’t need to jack up the engine and undo the motor mounts like the manual states

    Just did this...if you remove the tensioner first...this makes it easier to put the pulley back. Remove tensioner then remove pulley. Replace pulley...then replace tensioner.

    Nice video on the serpentine Belt replacement! The second gen. Rav4s are very very robust vehicles. I would say their build quality is close the legendary Toyota Landcruiser.
    Can you do a video on how to replace the timing chain tensioner on a 2002 Rav4 Paul (or at least a gasket replacement on the timing chain tensioner)? A lot of early 2000 Toyota vehicles have this same exact problem..... but getting at the timing chain tensioner in a 2002 Rav4 is extremely difficult (and difficult to even find and see on the engine)...
    The nice thing about the 2002 Rav4 is that it uses a timing chain instead of a timing belt. With this said the Rav4 engine should last as long as the car itself and the engine should never need opening. I really like the ABS plastic front fenders and door skins as well as this keep rust to a minimum. The second generation Rav4s are built like tanks and with my Rav4 being 20 years old now it has held up very well with even minimum maintenance.
    Since all Toyota Camry, Corolla, and Rav4 were built using the same engines and frame parts are still readily available even in 2022!

      The 2002 is my friend's car, so if they end up needing the timing chain tensioner replaced, I'll probably make a video, but don't hold your breath!

      While true. I went to the Toyota dealership this morning because my tensioner bolt broke and they couldn't tell me what replacement bolt to get. So, while available. You may have a hard time getting something if you don't know part numbers. Just ridiculous

      @@joshr8666 If you can, just go to a local auto wrecker's scrap yard and you should be able to find one off a Toyota Corolla or a Camry. Parts are the exact same anyways as the Corolla and Camry and Rav4 are all based on the same exact drive-line and components and only really difference is the outer body itself. My 2002 Rav4 is getting pretty old now but if it lasts me one more year I'll be more that happy......

    Hi, thank you so much for your video and how details it is. Thanks to you I now have the courage to change my own belt on my Rav4 2003. Just a question regarding my Rav4, whenever I hit 80km on the road and then release my gas pedal, I can feel my car is making a vibration so can it be due to the mount engine is worn out?

    i have a toyota rav4 2015. Millage 100k. Mechanic said i need to replace serpentine belts. Should I replace belt tensioner & pulley at the same time? i dont hear any noise at all. Should I just replace only the belt? do u know how long belt tensioner and pulley last on Rav4?

    Thank you for the video, one question, did you have to remove the ABS unit in order to gain access to the motor mount?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  Рік тому

      The RAV4 in the video does not have ABS. You should still be able to reach the engine mount bolts if you do.

    You use Bando belt on that engine. You will find out why soon.

    sir, i have a rav4 three door, 2s FE engine, the problem with is zero RPM in idle but if press the acclerator the pointer of Rpm is raise or moving, what the problem?

    • @LabCoatPaul
      @LabCoatPaul  2 роки тому +1

      If your tachometer isn't working but the engine runs OK, the problem might be your instrument cluster. Start by connecting a scan tool to your OBD2 port, and pull up the live data. If the RPM displays correctly on the scan tool, that means the ECM knows the RPM, but the gauges aren't displaying it. Pull the instrument cluster out of the car and check the electrical connections.

    Sir may i ask, is there a dry leak flow in the engine as seen when you removed the tensioner? From where it could have originated?

      The oil pan gasket leaks a little bit in this car. I didn't notice any other leaks.

      Watch the video at 2:00 for the belt part numbers. Also they're in the video description.
      Continental belt part numbers:
      with A/C and automatic transmission: 4070762
      with A/C and manual transmission: 4070760
      These numbers are for Continental brand belts. You can also get a belt from Toyota and there are a few other belt brands available from your local auto parts store.
