Another example is the Witness' reaction to seeing Calus holding his empty cup. We know the Witness' was disgusted by Calus' behavior but we didn't know why exactly. Now, we know that the Witness is 'angry' at the universe because it made everything without meaning. And Calus is someone who revels in that meaninglessness.

If you really think about it, the reason the traveler couldn’t hurt the witness is because the witness is completely made out of the consciousnesses of an entire species. Nothing about it is biological/physical. so the traveler being a God of the physical world probably can’t interact with a being completely made out of consciousness/darkness
Or the traveler goal wasn’t to destroy the witness in physical world. Cause maybe that is what caused the whole collapse we still don’t know everything that happened. Maybe the traveler was trying to level the playing field and defeat the witness in a different realm.
Or because bungie wanted another excuse for a dlc. It really seems they left the core players behind and just cater to the streamers. The witness is to them what raid bosses are to us: A walking force of nature who could wipe you from existence by flicking their pinky finger. So you can imagine how irrelevant we are to him. Like a paper plane in a hurricane.
It will probably be a way if combining light and darkness subclass powers into a mega power that can defeat the witness but with such power could cost the guardians life and also the ghosts too.

Honestly it never felt like we fought THIS in Final Shape. It just rolled up and did more.of what Rhulk and Calus did. Final Shape was great but The Witness when it came to being directly confronted was very disappointing. We never saw it use Resonance before, it almost came across as having a power exclusive to itself with the slicing those guardians to pieces and cutting into The Traveler itself, but we never see it first hand..just off screen.

To the best of my knowledge as someone who joined during The Taken King, I've never heard a single line where zavala asks for any advice or assistance. Good leaders are good followers, and listen to their fellows and seek counsel. Zavala does none of it and expects total cooperation. Kayde-6 was ALMOST there, but where a good leader fights alongside their soldiers, he just vanished off to do it on his own, leaving everyone to potentially go headless in his unexplained absence. In fact, in all of destiny, as far as I know, there's only a small few major leaders we've ever seen directly present and active at the front line when they didn't have to be. Which, by your standards, they’d be incapable of doing. And don’t even get me started on allying with the Eliksni despite the criticism and controversy. Or allying with Caiatl. Or allying with Mara Sov and dealing with her shit during Season of the Lost.

Very much like the analogy often used by the witness, its like it's playing a game of chess and deciding how to proceed. But seeing these "moves" in real time is really fun to watch.
There will be dire consequences if the Witness isn't the final boss in the next Destiny 2 campaign. There will also be some if it's exclusive on PS4, and not available on PC and Xbox One.

Destiny 2 has some of the best art direction ever. It's a shame I'm not a fan of the gameplay though. Kinda wish for a more Halo alike experience with that artistic vibe.
The root of nightmares raid was good too. Since we get to see the creative destruction from Traveler’s light. The Witness wasn’t harmed, but those pyramid ships can be terraformed, and leveled. Neomuna should’ve been more engaging beyond strand acquisition.

Now would be a good time to have a massive defense network of giant laser cannons run by a super intelligent AI, oh wait, that was probably the Witness’ plan when it got Eramis to activate the Warsats, knowing that Rasputin would hit the self destruct to save humanity. And before anyone points out that Rasputin failed to destroy the one pyramid ship before getting hit with the emp, he only used five warsats, compared to the network around earth, which easily destroyed a solar system destroying ship several times the size of the moon, I think he could have caused the Witness’ forces some serious damage
I would've had the Traveler fight the fleet alongside the guardians, really showcasing its power and the stregth of the vanguard until the Witness links the Veil, THEN have him beat the Traveler and open the portal. Having them just sit there while the business on Neptune takes place is just stupid.
I havent seen or heard an explanation for this but why doesnt humanity have any major flagships? They just have straight fighters and nothing of significant size or support or major weaponry
