@@TempestGhost Which is why Targe's sacrifice actually makes sense. It was important to bring Zavala back and not just a needless death for no reason.

Man we heard him talk for this campaign and yet for once this death didn’t feel unnecessary nothing else could snap Zavala back into focus where cayde and Ikora failed targe succeeded I was actually really sad when I saw him go I was excited to hear more of him but rest in piece buddy

Can i just say, Bungie actually delivered on making the Witness unsettling and threatening. It was going to be a coin toss how it ended up, but I'm totally satisfied with it.
This cutscene has more story, then the entire lightfall campaign

It looked like Targe self destructed, like Sagira likely did trying to save Osiris. Targe started yelling to power himself up and it appears The Witness just closed his hand to try to suppress the explosion.
@@xachisonfire1 No targe definitely was killed, notice how the explosion targe let off was the same as when Sundance was shot in forsaken

I always love moments like this.
The big bad is so confident in their manipulations, that they think they can do whatever they want to another character…or their friends.
The Witness believed it had Zavala, hook, line and sinker…until it killed Targe.
Targe’s death was a shock, a way to show Zavala that whatever crisis he was going through, The Witness only thrived off of Zavala’s despair.
Targe’s death, to me, was sad…but his sacrifice allowed Zavala to snap back to reality and continue the fight.

Well we're upset because he's uniquely tied to Zavala, who we know and care about. Plus what his death means for Zavala, who has always followed the traveler in its light
Because his death had relevance and his character was actually likable, to say nothing of the fact that his dialogue wasn’t just dropping bad jokes every other line.

I think so, but I believe any ghost that dies inside the traveler might be possible to bring back. Or they are setting up a way in which our guardians will be infused with the light directly, without the need for ghosts. The travelers gift to humanity for stopping the witness and saving the universe perhaps? Humanity itself becomes immortal beings wielding both light and dark? Sounds juicy. Humanity becomes Guardians of the universe or some shit.

Did Targe sacrifice himself or did Witness crush him?
I think he was trying to detonate himself (like Sagira did to save Osiris), you see him "charging" even before the Witness grabs him.

My power went out as soon as zavala got grabbed but luckily it looks like ky power was holding out for the cutscene to end lol
Also what an idiot zavala like bro
I really thought Zavala would somehow lose his voice and Targe would translate through sign language and Tage was voiced by Keith David who after being murdered by the witness would pass on his voice to Zavala. Zavala might learn sign language from Targe when the traveler gave the ghosts knowledge and taught Zavala and Safiah because Hakim could have been deaf.

Targe was dumb for that, zavala already got the answers for how to unmake the witness and for some reason bungie decided to give targe a hero moment but absolutely zero plot armor. Zavala without light is like a computer without programs.
Zavala was silent, focused on the witness, its like he was in a trance. The dude was still statue. If Targe didnt interfere Zavala might have joined the collective conscience of the witness unwillingly
