I hearby declare that Taranis is now one of the homies.
I vote for this decision!
Agreed.
I vote in favor. *Cracks open a cold fizzy one for bro*
Voting in favor for this as well
Haven’t played the new season but I believe you. If he smashed riven, he riding with the boys
These 3 minutes just blew the gates open to what an ahamkara was like; literally like. Feral cat but giant and magic.
They weren’t all like this physically though. That’s just the design team being a bit lazy. But all their skulls we find look reptilian, except for Riven and Taranis.
I really wish they would’ve shown Taranis looking wildly different. They’re shapeshifters after all, and it would’ve shown the extent of how different their nature can be.
Even Riven used to look like a dragon with sapphire scales at times.
@@Anonymous-wk1jtI think Taranis shapeshifted himself to look like Riven because he loved her.
@@sunbreakerqueenofbronze621 I can get behind that. I also love how they magically made babies, it seemed very Disney like
@Anonymous-wk1jt I've never heard of Riven as a Sapphire Dragon. Also being a shape-shifting no one ever truly knows what the original form is. Feral Cat tentacle face could be her natural form?
@@RyonMugen There’s some lore that describes Mara sitting under Riven’s wing putting together a bouquet of flowers, and it described Riven as having sapphire scales and an orange crest, her head the size of a fallen pike.
There’s even some fanart on that too.
As for the other thing you said, while definitely possible, I personally think it’s unlikely. I heard or read somewhere (it was a while ago so don’t quote me on this, I’d look it up if I were you) that Riven granted us the wish to slay a monster during the last wish, and she twisted her form into that of a monster, both feeding from the wish and granting it to us. That would explain her monstrous form that looks wildly different to how she used to look in the lore.
There’s also the fact that Ahamkara are constantly described as having wings and their skulls we find are always reptilian/draconic including Huginn and Muninn in the Dreaming City and Hefnd’s giant skeleton in the dungeon, with the sole exception of Riven and Taranis.
Ahamkara concept art is also really reptilian.
This cutscene better than the entire lightfall campaign
Yes
Real
You say that like that’s a high bar
@@Hashxd888 cause it is metro
@@memecrider3585do you know what the definition of the high bar expression means?
It kicked my ass to hear Riven be compassionate and remorseful for just a split second. I'd be a vengeful spirit after this, too.
I love how everyone’s perception of Riven went from evil and corrupted wish dragon to a loving wife and mother, bitter for the injustice she went through and seeking vengeance on those who threaten her children
Taranis may have been the only noble Ahamkara. He granted wishes with no drawbacks at the risk of starving. He sacrificed himself to keep his offspring safe from harm. Truly, he was a paragon of his kind.
RIP Taranis
May your wish remain true
Too bad one of the eggs he scattered was corrupted by the Taken energy
@Jakesterpop1 we saved it, though. We uncorrupted it.
@@elitegamer9310 If we hadn't destroyed the 40 eggs, why didn't we use the Veil to reverse the Taken energy in the first place?
Taranis is the MVP (Most Valuable Parent) of all time. This man selflessly granted his own wish to protect his eggs/children. Watching this punched me right in the feels.
God, I am too much of a sucker for a self sacrificing parent. Add the rizz he was spitting in that final conversation with Riven through Crow AND his final message to his clutch in the bows lore tab... Man...
He was the brohamkara. You will be missed. RIP Taranis, rest in ravioli.
This one cutscene evoked more emotion than the entirety of Lightfall. You guys knocked it out of the park with this one!
I mean good cutscene but not all of LF.
@@MW2proificationonly good LF cutscenes were the first one and the witness entering the traveler
@@joeystarr1273 would say others were good too.
These dragons be getting more tail than the average Destiny player.
Your mom was really good to me last night
You’re not wrong
Says the guy with a meme pfp
Me find this comment funnE.. ha
@@randomguyodst46 Just what they look like in here due to a bit of a lazy moment in the design team. They’ve always been called dragons, and lore says they literally look like dragons most of the time.
Still a better love story than Twilight.
Any love story is better than Twilight.
It's literally a great story.
Well it isn t difficult
Honestly, The Bronze Crown is a better love story than Twilight, and The Bronze Crown is about assassins, with romance being a subplot.
@@allisnake7358 Except Reylo.
The Great Hunt was a joint venture between three parties: The Last City, Mara's Awoken, and Riven.
The Last City feared a powerful, nigh incomprehensible threat.
Mara wished for a unique power that only she could wield.
Lastly, Riven desired to monopolize wishes. In the lore cards, she was just as culpable as everyone else. Because she could not deny her nature.
Are we the bad guys? Not really no. But were certainly not innocent either. Even Riven's spirit has said her species might have survived had they been more Human. Taranis was an exception, not the rule.
Yep. Nice summary.
Preach father preach!!
Fym innocent? Not a matter of Innocence, It’s simple self-defense.
Bungie, now this is quality storytelling..
season of the seraph would like to speak with you
@@Miwheand then Lighfall and Nimbus happened.
@@Miwhe Seraph had a SLEW of problems in its story lmao. The entire Rasputin/Ana subplot had tons of issues that were never really resolved meaningfully, actually.
@@Miwhe season of the splicer was better lore wise, season of the witch was better, actually there's at least 5 seasons that was better, heck the season where Rasputin dies was better.
I'm not saying that it wasn't a good season, but the story fell a bit short for me.
@@thelostcompass1320 Splicer was annoying for its own reasons. The actually written stuff (lore tabs, lore books, etc) was the only decent part of that one.
This is the best story and cinematic I’ve seen from this game in ages. Shivers. RIP Taranis, homie, and father of the century.
Taranis is a god damn chad.
It's nice to see that characters have complexity to them, Riven might be a wish dragon that grants said wish as she pleases but she is still an individual capable of love and longs for a companion. While we all know that Mara is a self serving powerful being but we keep her around as she is aligned with us even if we would clearly not approve of everything she has done or will do.
These videos are my favorites, i wanna a Netflix show like this about all the lore
YES
Thanks to fire team finder I completed the mission.
Thanks Bungie.
Im not crying- YOURE CRYING!
I... just caught something in my eyes...
Allergies... It's allergies..
They really made us feel bad for eviscerating her whole race
The Last City and the Awoken deemed the Ahamkaras' wish-magic to be a force too powerful should it fall into the wrong hands (the Darkness' hands). We saw exactly that when Riven was Taken in _Forsaken_ - Cayde died and the Sacred City of the Awoken was cast into an endless cycle of despair because of it
Oh no not the heckin' doggerinos😢 oh no are we the baddies?😢 but they were so wholesome 💯
You're a dumb bot sheep if you truly think this.
To be fair, I didn't play season of the Hunt so my hands are clean.
@@Mate397 Huh? The Great Ahamkara Hunt took place over a hundred years before the events of the first game. _Season of the Hunt_ has nothing to do with this
I care more for taranis than any character that actually appeared in game in like the last five years
Hey bungie! If youre listening, dont keep deleting the 4th season every year and just the first one. Bc you keep making them so good
In an interview while talking about the new Episodes model they talked about how they wanted to keep more important moment in the game going forward. Now I have no idea what that means lol, but maybe they’ll change how the content rotates out of the game? Or maybe they’ll rotate older seasons/episodes/activities back (like they are already doing with Battlegrounds), no idea. But hopefully we’ll see an improvement under this specific point in the next year.
@@davida1229yeah totally the reason why
I was not expecting this, oh feelings mine
Best love story in the game so far imo
Rest in peace, Taranis.
We'll carry your Last Wish, as your Wish-Keeper, ...with my Wish-Keeper.
Taranis... I promise you, granted or not, we will bring your eggs back!
One of the best cutscenes I've seen so far in the game ngl
Now If the mission kept this level of quality. Please more of these Stories!
Damn we should have spared him we could’ve had a dragon as homie
I mean we didn't kill him tho he kinda killed himself
@nalydrekab8789 to be fair, it's our fault we started the great ahamkara hunt and made them extinct, he killed himself to protect his unborn kids
@@noriyuckykekween8789 yeah, we have a lot of dragon blood on her hands
@noriyuckykekween8789 yeah true but I just mean we couldn't have spared him bc we didn't kill him yknk

Keep it up bungo, this gave me feels reminiscent of the good ole halo days
Some of the most beautiful storytelling and VA this season 💜
live Taranis reaction
Good detail of Warlord Shaxx and Iron Lord Saladin be present at the skeleton's of the Ahamkara.
Such a good cutscene
Taranis, father of the year
now THIS is a cutscene
this is so sad and touching at the same time
Well done as always.
_So it's canon, the power of __-friendship-__ Dragon s3x is key to defeating the Witness_
my favorite cinematic story yet great mission
So emotional and cute 🥺🥺😍😍
Wait. That's it? That's the season? That was just 2 magic dragons having segs!
What more could you want
And soon you can as well! From Bad Dragon.
GRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAA!!!! BUNGIE BETRAYED US!!!!!!!
@@Mate397you mean bad ahamkara
You cannot deny that Taranis is a full fledge chad
I haven’t played this season but I do love the ahamkara this just makes me sad for them
Well more lore to add to my guardians story with them now
this made me almost tear up, this was a fun mission and story
This is the best cutscene in all of destiny 2
Wish for taranis return
3:10
They said the thing.
Great Cutscene :D
I shed a tear during this cutscene
The lines between good and bad, light and dark are small with 2 sides to every story. ✌️
Great cutscene. If only you could still see this season's story in-game after it ends in June.
This cutscene made me a little sad because this shows how much a dad can do for his son/daughter. Remember guys, enjoy your parents as long as you can.
I like how their names put together make "To split Thunder"
If "I do this for my kids" was a dragon
Wow, when you see it from Riven’s perspective, the Great Ahamkara Hunt looked more like a racist genocide because a group of them made the rest of their species look like dangerous monsters.
I wouldn’t say it’s a group of them, most of them like 99% were dangerous. Taranis was a very small minority.
Like Riven said, Taranis made sure those who wish from him actually got something good out of it. Which means a lot the Ahamkaras were probably assholes more than wishgivers. Still like IRL basically hunting a species to extinction is terrible
@@Blu_Moon_Owl It was a necessary evil to do. Is it right? No. Was it a hard choice to make that meant the survival of everyone else? Yes.
Love season of the wish
Big Taranis W
This stories show us more and more that we are maybe the bad guys
We're doing what's necessary, not what's 'right'. In a situation like ours, there isn't really room to consider what's morally correct anymore.
Not "the Guardian," but rather the Guardian faction as a whole is not all that heroic, it is moreso neutral in the grand scheme.
The Guardian/player is the hero that hasn't done anything evil
No, they deserved it.
I'd rather say, that we do what is in our best interest. And Wish Dragons, most of them, have their own interests as priority too.
Guardians are meant to protect the innocents and we are learning, bit by bit, that past guardians were working for their interest. The first time i saw that was when their was thid cutscene with saint 14 with like the face ouf devil from the perspective of the fallens.
But surely our gardian always stay in the Light, killing only when the real deal is here like with oryx, ghaul ect...
This begs the question: Did he know we were there? All the way of the start we entered the garden to snuff out the Heart. Did we somehow wish it to kill a god and he granted it? What about when we went to stop the Undying Mind?
RIP Taranis 😢
kinda weeped a little after watching this. feels like taranis is living on through the dying wish he entrusted us with.
I'm down bad for them
Taranis for you, I will get them eggs and make sure they see their life full
This was so sad 😢
I will be a good wish keeper from now on, for you, Taranis...
Played through the season and still missed this. Why?!
This season was the reason I picked up Lightfall and Season Pass, I love a good story and this one bears no equal
Dam even the dragons got more game than I do
Taranis made the mistake of being straight, so by destiny tradition, Bungie had to kill either one of both parties in the relationship
wait are we forgetting sjur? does that mean if you’re in a relationship in destiny either party is bound to die…?
DRIFTER NO WAIT NO-
Taranis is GIGACHAMKARA
Wow.....
I wish there were more discernible features between male and female Ahamkara
Anyone knows which song/theme is playing? Please
taranis w dad
And this represents the entirety of the seasonal content. Thanks, now I can play other things.
Okay, but like, I remember the explanation for Riven's Last Wish design being because it's what Oryx imagined a "dragon" to be? Whatever happened to that idea?
Gone and forgotten, more or less. They'd rather reuse the Last Wish design over using any existing descriptions in lore because it's cheaper and lazy, a perfect analog to what Bungie is nowadays.
Taranis is the father of the millennia!
My hatred for Mara grows.
Riven having a baby daddy and it being Canon is something i never expected to happen in Destiny...
???? When was this cutscene played? I did all the story and somehow I missed this?
oh taranis.
Guardian gets the wish keeper bow.
Anyway......
Shaxx: and I should care why?
This is the type of scene that should stay not go the dcv put it as a side quest for players that own forsaken to replay it adds more lore to the wish dragons
Wish I was Taranis fr 🤤
1:58 Whats up with Riven's head in these shots? The first one looks asymmetrical and the next has her face above her mandibles.
I know the Ahamkara can shapeshift but this looks off
We are actully the bad guys
Huh. I paid for this and I could’ve just watched it on UA-cam.
Womp womp
Not me feeling Light Guilt with my Light Privilege 😞
If only Taranis had his own unique look. 😕 W cutscene all the same.
What are you, some sort of racist? You can't tell them apart? All Ahamkara look the same to you?
Bruh. You know, that is like saying oh you wish every animal had their own unique look. Well guess what they don't same with the Ahamkara, the Ahamkara might be shapeshifters but all shape shifters have a base form and their form being that of what we have seen from the likes of Riven and the one fake one we saw in the throne world of savathûn
Just a theory, but I think we do see taranis. If you look at his design in the cutscene, he has more skeletal spikes coming out of his face, and in one of the Witch queen Missions, we see a more red ahamkara with spikes. Could be overanalyzing, but I figured I'd mention it because it seems interesting
These beasts are so big they look like they are apex predators.
So like, it made a strand element weapon? Does it know what strand was? I thought we were the first to wield it
You think Bungie pays any attention to their own story?
@@Celestial_human_object oh thank you! The cutscene was like... Wut
*insert paracausal mumbo jumbo*
A wish that good begets another oh Guardian mine we know that wishes can be granted simply by another's wish like with what happened with the curse cycle in the dreaming city where by wishing to kill riven we fell directly into her trap by removing her heart
It's the same method but opposite we granted his wish to protect his brood therefore as a chain we guardians are granted a weapon to protect that brood
Ahamkara literally make things from nothing. It can make a strand bow without having wielded it.
Bungie you have a rare opportunity to have a Ghost resurrect Taranis as a Lightbearer.
Just sayin'.
I don’t think that’s possibile anymore. When a Dragon fulfill his own wishes, he doesn’t simply die, he just stop existing, Riven said this in the last dialogue. Taranis was able to talk to us because his wish wasn’t still completed, but now? I don’t know if Ghosts can bring back something that stopped existing tbh.
@@davida1229I mean, Ghost brought us back from being completely spaghettified by strand...
@@PixelleHearts yeah but I don’t know if that’s the same thing, being disintegrated and stopping to exists. Plus, the Ghost only needed to revive us, it already bought us back to life the first time, unlike with Taranis.
@@PixelleHeartsGhosts I think need genetic material around in order to revive the guardian. There has to be something for the ghost to revive. Taranis is fully nonexistent sadly
Where tf was any of this kind of storytelling in Lightfall
Taranis was the greatest of his species. He was good and its a shame that he is gone. Hopefully his children can carry on his legacy. Rest in peace
Ost name? Both
That doesn't make sense didn't the queen brother found that last dragon so how was there two?
Help, I've been simping over a dragon for 3 days straight...
