  • The second in my series of HOW TO GUIDE videos designed to provide essential and useful information to Microsoft Flight Simulation users. In this video we learn how to calibrate, set up and configure controllers and peripherals in Microsoft Flight Simulator. We also dive into the sensitivity settings to fine tune our peripheral controls. We test our set up with a flight in the DR400 in Utah.

Thanks for these helpful videos. You've made it possible to enjoy this great Sim instead of pulling out my hair in frustration. Especially helpful are the tips of which of the myriad, related options for controller mapping, are the ones to use. Now, if you could put up a video especially related to mapping a standard yoke or joystick for flying the big commercial jets, I'd be very grateful. I don't really want to buy all the expensive, jet-related controllers (at this time). But right now, I can't even get off the ground with a standard joystick in the A320. Thanks!

Hi Mark . Very nicely done sir . Clear and easy to follow for the newcomer and a good refresher for more seasoned simmers . The only can of worms that i`d like you to untangle . Would be the search for quality and perfomance balance graphicaly . This should probably wait untill both the red and green team have their latest models out . But MSFS 2020 being such a brute to run even on modern hardware . Any extra nuggets of wisdom on getting the best out of our systems , can only be a good thing . I know it`s a big subject . And peoples systems and hardware can vary hugely . There must be a core of card and sim settings that are big performance changers . As i say ,probably nearer the end of the year would be better to cover up to date hardware . ( I may have my 3080 by then ....maybe ) Keep up the good work sir .

Thanks for all your videos, they have been a great help to get me started. I must be missing somethings obvious though - you have rudder pedals connected, but you use the twist on the joystick for rudder. Why? How do you configure the pedals to work with the joystick? I cannot figure out how to do it because they are under different profiles.

The flight stick has the option to enable or disable rudder (when linked together by cable). I can also just turn off the rudders via usb and use the joystick etc.

Thanks a lot for this tutoiral. It got me up and running with my HOTAS. But I'm having some issue where I can take off and fly just fine but once I land at my arrival point, my plane refuses to drive straight and makes me do loops or do a 180 and I cannot drive to the gate. I looked online and some people said that maybe it was something about the rudder being assigned to the HOTAS AND the keyboard at the same time but the results were inconclusive and I don't really know what I am doing. Do you know how I can fix this problem?
Also the nose up and nose down thing only moves the lever between 4 and 5 and nowhere else.

Make sure you have AI pilot and pilot assist for rudder etc. switched off. Check your configured under control options…you could have two functions assigned to your throttle or flight stick.

Tryied setting up my VKB NXT EVO joystick using this method. First, i configured it through VKB setup manager and MSFS 2020 wouldn't read the X and Y axis so I tried this method through the Microsoft setup and now MSFS 2020 won't recognize the joystick at all. It is a great video though, I'm sure I did something incorrect. Been fighting with setting this stick up for three days and can't seem to get it to work. Thank you for the content.

Can a controller profile be tied to a specific aircraft when selected? Also, is there a button repeat feature like FSX and P3D (I.e. one click, fast, and slow)?

    Hi Mark.
A question, well 2 actually, if I may.
Regarding the Xbox controller and the settings. When I use the Camera/Showcase/ Free mode it's possible to look up and down.
The problem I have is that it's natural for me to pull back to go up and push forward to go down, as in elevator control. However the camera controller is setup to do the opposite. Push the top of the right button forward, and it looks up, pull back and it looks down.
The settings list shows 'External Camera', and view up and down, when I tried to reverse these I got in a right pickle, and ended up with an addition Profile, which I deleted.
In addition my mouse, a Logitech M310, wireless, is combined with the keyboard using a unifying USB plugin. The mouse settings (default) show a multitude of operations. e.g. In the 'Assigned'/ Cockpit Camera list UNZOOM is shown as Mouse wheel down, and Zoom as MW up
. However only the right button has any effect, the wheel and left button do nothing.
Any ideas/advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks Noel

    • @SimHangerFS
      @SimHangerFS  3 роки тому

Hi Noel, I have just released a video on the camera settings this may help. You can definitely change/reverse the look up and look down actions. In the default profile delete both key mappings...make sure you have your gamepad selected... (I think it will be the 'R' key). Change to what you want it to be and save under another profile setting. You can not overwrite the default profiles. Make sure the changes you make are under the External Camera when doing so. Note this will only apply in External mode unless the change the button mappings in the other modes.
With regards to the mouse...I'm a bit baffled by this. Check in the camera profile settings (under General/Camera) that your Zoom is set to manual and not auto. Do the same in the cockpit mode from the top toolbar/camera/cockpit. Hope this helps. Regards

Firstly thank you for your helpful and informative information. I would be grateful for any information for successful setting up for Thrust master TCA quadrant and FBW Airbus after FS2020 update 6.
Have reviewed most information and videos to no avail. TCA firmware and software updated to latest. FS2020 sensitivity settings set to zero except for reactiveness at 100%. FLYPAD settings in FBW Airbus for TCA seem not to work correctly and cannot be saved. Do not map to FBW in cockpit throttle.
For simplicity would be grateful to know FS2020 sensitivity settings after FS2020 update 6 and FBW update 7 Stable. Not interested in development or experimental. These cause crashes to blue screen and have bugs. This topic is of interest to many people. The FBW application has been and remains unstable after FS2020 update 5. A great pity as before update 5 FBW was a great product but now a high maintenance time consuming application which detracts from the previous high enjoyment factor. Thank you for any comments.
