Absolutely correct to go for a genuine LR clutch. Adding a 'heavy duty' clutch puts excessive strain on the crankshaft thrust bearing and can result an even more expensive engine repair. You made a sound decision there! I wish I'd done the same when I 'uprated' the clutch in my 300TDI!

sorry to hear about the cost for a new clutch as labour is not cheap any more but the new clutch should last for years thanks for up date looking forward to ore videos

Excited to see the spacers and nuts. I did that on my L322 Range Rover and it has made a tremendous difference. Thanks for the video!

Nice channel and great content, bing watched most of the content yesterday, I can still feel the pain of owning a defender. Always something needed doing, always something going wrong, I needed it for living and in the end I changed to a Hilux which never let me down. But as you can tell the defender still has me hooked and I am now thinking having watched Scout, what if I had one as a project. So no doubt I will start lusting after a defender again and start by spending the rest of the day on eBay and auto trader, thanks for the content all the best.

Great to see it back. What lights are those you have on the roof rack?

Thanks! The lights are LTPRTZ PRIME-X Spot lights from ORE 4X4 - I'll put a link in the description box

Just Lanoguarded mine m8, doddle of a job almost enjoyable to be honest. I used a friends lift which makes the job a lot easier but i have rolled around the floor and done it in the past. It's definitely doable with out a lift. Just make sure it's nice and clean and dry and ideally the temperature wants to be in double digits...

Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely be rolling around on the floor but good to hear that it's relatively straight forward

I believe the clutch on Lisa will have to be done in the next couple of years as well. There are no dodgy noises or anything like that, but it just feels from the pedal travel and bite that the clutch is toward the end of its life. She's done just over 60,000 miles and I only do ~5000 miles a year in the Land Rover, so it's hard to estimate the right time to get the job done. Has the clutch got another year in it? Probably. What about 5? I don't know - maybe! Could it even be 10?!
It's hard to kind of measure it all up.
But my intension is to try to nip it in the bud prior to actual clutch failure, if I can, even if it means replacing the clutch earlier than absolutely necessary. And my current idea is to do it myself!
Now, don't get me wrong, I am a novice. I would say I'm in the same boat as you - I can tinker with some basic maintenance quite comfortably, but everything else is quite daunting.
But I did do the clutch on my first Land Rover, which was a Discovery 1. In that instance I actually found it easier to lift the engine rather than drop the gearbox.
I'm thinking that one of these Winters I am going to accept some downtime with Lisa and get the job done. And, since I am definitely keeping Lisa for the long term (essentially, forever) I reckon a HD clutch would be a useful upgrade in my case.
Thanks for the hard work on all your videos. It's very time consuming to do these - I am struggling to even get my first one out!

Thanks for the reply! Like you say, it's so tricky to work out how longs it's got left but it's a right pain when it goes unexpectedly.
Glad you're enjoying the videos - you're right, they do take a lot of time and effort, but I love making them and even better when you hear people enjoying them. I look forward to seeing your video when it drops!

Bit of a missed opportunity not fitting the LOF clutch kit, but I expect you don’t want to hear that. Also, fit the MT82 output shaft kit and forget about it for 300k…
