Congratulations on the new place! I’m very happy for you on that! Tearing into that dash had to take some courage on your part. Great job! That had to feel very satisfying. Thanks for the video!
When yours were not working, was the water also not working? Mine have just stopped working and I’m trying to work out what’s wrong with them. I ordered a new arm today as I thought it might be that.
You should have upgraded the wiper wheel boxes with the HD versions from DDE Ltd…they are built to last forever, they also sell HD twin nozzle washer jets.
Good that you have place to work on your truck. As truck is getting older, more things you will have to do. I guess good for you tube! More contents! Puma one looks much harder than mu 300 tdi one. My wiper still works and I hope I don't need to do that. That rubber seal cap for wiper spindle is not possible to get on its own. So if you still have not tossed old ones, better keep those rubber. Thanks for the video!
I think the wiper mechanics are much more tricky to get to on a puma so fingers crossed you'll be ok if you ever need to do it. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I did all this one mine. Changed the wiper switch too but that went within 6 months… now I’m on a genuine switch not from Shitpart and is working so much better 2 years later
A few questions: 1. Is there any preventative maintenance e.g. WD40 that can be used to prolong lifetime? 2. Can you provide a link to the Bosch Twin blades, as I couldn’t find them online? 3. Could the Bosch wipers (being ‘heavier’) have contributed to the wiper mechanism facility? I don’t fancy this job at all!
Thanks for the comment! 1. For maintenance, injecting grease into the spindles would be good maintenance to keep them running for long 2. I’ll leave a link to the wipers I use in the description box 3. I don’t think the weight of the wipers is the issue, more that over time the wiper boxes loose grease and seize
Think you will find the spindles have rusted up in there selves it need regular wd40 or spray grease to keep them lubricated . Just remove the rubber cap and spray down the side of the spindle
The wiper gear had seized so I thought best to swap both so I don’t have to go back there again soon. Agree that I didn’t have to change the motor, I had already bought that thinking it was the problem
My 2015 90 is standard, what is the benefit of a stage 2 remap and do you have to add an intercooler etc when you do it? Also do you have to advise your insurance co when you do so?
@@raygardner8202 makes the car more driveable and you can overtake cars more confidently. The intercooler will aid stage 2 to get the maximum benefit. I'd recommend upgrading to silicon pipes simultaneously to save labour costs.
Few things, test before taking out, it might be a simple issue no need to renew everything. you can actually get 3 turns on the spindles, and always replace with genuine or you'll be doing them again in a few months! alos totally dead is not likely to be a mechanism issue, but electrical or motor, motor issue usually blows a fuse or works on one, blows a fuse on other. also test intermitent. first point if test is remove the motor and see if that works, you can also pull the drive wire and see if the wiper wheelboxes move - this should be done in vehicle. ps they are wiper arms not mirror arms...
Thanks for your comment - I had tested fuses before hand and nothing had blown. The motor was fine so it was a jammed gear that was causing the problem. I hadn’t realised you could pull the drive wire without removing the dash so that’s good to know. Thanks!

Thanks so much! A little bit daunting but glad to know it all went back together ok and fixed the problem

Great enthusiasm but surprised you didn’t diagnose the problem first rather than buy all new kit and keep fingers crossed.
did you go for the aftermarket kit or OEM?

ah good ol defender wipers. They never fully work, when they do its hardly effective. Got to love them!!
I know right! Not really sure why they are there 😂
Who would have thought wiper blade assembly would be such a complicated job.
I know! The most time is taken up with removing the dash. After that it’s relatively straight forward.
it's a Defender ......😂
I did all this one mine. Changed the wiper switch too but that went within 6 months… now I’m on a genuine switch not from Shitpart and is working so much better 2 years later
Bit of a job isn’t it! But well worth it knowing it’s all fresh
@@ScoutTheDefender 100% great video too!
Looking forward to the washer jet upgrade !!
Coming soon 👀
Done that job a few times. Its no where near as bad as it looks to do
I can’t see the video explaining all the dash removal you said would be in the description? Sorry if I’m being daft
Sorry, I totally forgot to put a link - There is now a video in the description of the video I often follow to remember all the screws

@@sheepdogman1 Thanks. By coincidence I found these today, so have done as you suggested. Good tip.
Why not find the fault and swap out the minimum of parts?

When are you going to but on stage two remap
Hopefully some more power coming soon!

They are an absolute moneypit..can't wait to get shut of my 130 even if i have to take a loss
That's insane!! All that just for that job? What a terrible design...but then again it is a Land Rover 😊
I know 😂 All part of the fun
Probably because its a shallow dash and theres not alot of room behind there to put everything hence why they've cone up with that design
Nice Work, did I miss the second installment of your Scottish trip video?
Thanks! You’ve not missed it - it’s just taking me a little while to get around to editing it. Will be up in the next couple of weeks
Such a big job just for wiper mechanics
The dash out in a puma is such a faff!
Fella, the word is mechanism…
What was I saying?
@@ScoutTheDefenderyou say wire mechanic a few times

Haha, I wondered where that thing went!
