Looks great! I’m actually about to paint our bathroom vanity creamy mushroom! I painted the bead board in our kitchen with that color and now I’m just going to use the leftover 👌🏼
Hello. Nice tutorial. What substance did you apply before you sandpapered and then painted? And what paint did you use? I'd be glad if you answered. Thanks in advance 🌹. 30.01.2024, 07:59 a.m
Hi, thank you! I used wood filler to fill in holes, sanded, primed, then painted with Behr satin enamel indoor paint in the color Creamy Mushroom. Here's the full length video if you want to check it out: ua-cam.com/video/_RAjvAf7AM4/v-deo.html
It’s beautiful! Did you paint it inside your home or outside in the garage, etc? I was wondering if debris (pollen, etc) ends up in it outside? Thanks!
Thank you! I painted it outside and the only thing I had issues with were bugs getting caught in the paint here and there. I would recommend if you're worried about pollen or anything else, 100% do the primer outside. As for the paint, I've used low fume paints inside and it's not been an issue as long as you can air it out a bit. Hope that helps!
It's actually a shellac based primer. It's called Zinsser B-I-N primer and you should be able to find it at most hardware stores. I got it at Home Depot!
Hi! When it comes to painting laminate, you have to prime it with a primer that will grip to the surface. The shellac primer I used works great. If you don't prime first, the paint will peel off, regardless if it has a primer in it or not, because it needs something rough to stick to. The paint I used was a two in one, which helped cut down on the amount of coats I needed over top of the base primer. When it comes to what paint to use on wood, you can use many types of paint. It really depends on if it's real wood or not, if it's raw wood, et cetera. I hope that helps, but let me know if you have other questions!

Normally I would agree if this was a real solid wood, but it's not, it's plastic laminate with no real wood veneer. But trust me, if this was solid wood in good condition, I would've never paint it :)
I didn't on this piece and it's held up really well since I used a better quality paint, but if you're worried about it, I'd say definitely go ahead and do it.
It definitely should, although I've never tried it. You may want to look into what paint works best for cabinets, but I'd assume the process would be the same!
If you use a really good paint like the one I did, you don't really see any strokes with the paint brush, but you could use a roller or if you've got one, a paint sprayer, which will give you the smoothest look.
I'm definitely not an expert, but real wood furniture and cabinets typically have tongue and groove joints. Now with cabinet doors it would be hard to tell if it was one solid piece. You can also look at the wood grain. If the sides of the cabinet door have a different grain or look completely different, then it's probably laminate. I will say that if you were interested in painting your cabinets as opposed to staining them, then you can use the BIN shellac primer on both plastic/laminate surfaces, as well as real wood surfaces.I hope that helps.
I only scuff sanded minimally and hardly any on top. And yes, I used Zinsser and the paint adhered really well to it. Using that primer is an absolute must when you're painting laminate in my opinion. Here's the link to the full video if you want to check it out :) ua-cam.com/video/_RAjvAf7AM4/v-deo.html
horrible finish, but it looks good on video. shellac is a good primer but, apply it with door or drawers facing up so it sits nicely, end results are way different
Wow..lovely
Thank you!!

Nice job! I liked the old hardware better, but perhaps you will use it on a different project.
Thank you so much! Yes, I liked it too, but was going for a different look. I definitely kept it though to use for a future project :)

Hey! What paint do you use? from what company?
@@Daniel_S20 I used Behr paint and primer that I got at Home Depot 😊
What js the primer you used ? Is this a water based primer or oil based one

What finish of paint do you use? Satin? Semi-gloss?

Hello, do you need to prime? Or can you just buy paint with primer in it? Also can you use any paint on wood? Thank you

What kind of filling you used
@@zahrahtehseen4287 I just used wood filler 😊
Transformed a nice solid wood cabinet to ikea
It's not solid wood, it's laminate.
What did you use to patch?
I just used some wood filler.
What primer is it?
It's the Zinsser BIN shellac primer :)
What’s the name of the primer again? I have a big project with laminate furniture and I am trying to get all the tips I can. Thanks in advance
It's the Zinsser BIN Primer in the red can. Good luck with your project!

Does the paint marks go away after you do one with the second coat ?
Yes. The primer is super streaky, but once you paint over it and allow the paint to dry there aren't any paint strokes left over.
Do you use a top coat ?
I didn't on this piece and it's held up really well since I used a better quality paint, but if you're worried about it, I'd say definitely go ahead and do it.
What paint?❤
It's Behr in the color Creamy Mushroom

Can you write down the name of tool you need to do this job?
Which tool are you talking about? The spatula or the paint brushes?
I have a pet Grizzly and I painted his fur. Friends asked what paint I used. I told them "Bear Paint".

The primer is a shellac primer and the paint is an indoor paint/primer combo. I used Behr!

Is this a wooden furniture
The makings of the dresser are wood and particle board, while the outside is laminate/faux wood.
How i know that my cabinets is laminate? The seller told is wood but definitely is not, The texture of the cabinet from the outside is not like wood
I'm definitely not an expert, but real wood furniture and cabinets typically have tongue and groove joints. Now with cabinet doors it would be hard to tell if it was one solid piece. Wouldn’t Painting it with a Roller Give You Smoother Surfaces Though?
In theory, probably, but I don't think it matters. I didn't have any issue with the surface being smooth, especially after painting over everything.
Did you sand the entire top? If not, how well did the paint do in adherence? Are you using Zinzer?
I only scuff sanded minimally and hardly any on top. And yes, I used Zinsser and the paint adhered really well to it.
