Brilliant mate, you've inspired me. I've got just the piece of wood too, an old gnarly black walnut log given to me by a sawmiller. Practicing with my new Proforme hollower first, making a vase....
Ich bin wie so oft nicht sicher was mir am meisten gefällt- das Projekt oder deine unglaubliche Gelassenheit und dein Humor. Vielen Dank für das tolle Video. Es ist immer eine große Freude dir zuzusehen.
Hi Ronald, Lies. Again, a wonderful project. Many thanks for sharing. Kudo’s for Lies as well, for the coverage is done wonderfully as well. It is still a bit too steep for me and not sure if my lathe and current tools are able to recreate it, but alas, it is great watching your skills and tips nevertheless. I wish you both a great Christmas and a productive and healthy 2023! Cheers, Frank
LG Wolfg. Kariger.
I've just discovered and subscribed to your channel and spent most of Saturday evening watching your videos. I love your style and what you do and have already got some ideas for future projects, probably beyond my abilities as I am fairly new to turning. Mag ik een kwestie vragen? is Lies as gek as she seems and does she ever appear in front of the camera 😁
I started attempting with a small piece of Mulberry branch. I ended up making my first hollowform, which is cool I suppose but now I don't know what finish to use on the inside since it's still kind of wet!
Mulberry is a great wood to work with! If possible i leave the inside unfinished. Most of the time people can't see it anyway. But here i put an oilcoat in it. Because the opening is big and people can see it...
Love your wood turning style. Looks like this time you had to let the wood do what the wood wanted to do. 😂 I’m learning a lot from watching you. Thank you.
Hi Ronald, I found you recently on You Tube. I retired a few years ago and started turning about 18 months ago, I enjoy your relaxed style and have learned a great deal from you videos. A non turning question, who is the musician on this video?
Nice video and pretty piece. If you had filled it what would you use? Black epoxy to match background or a contrasting colour? I really enjoy your videos.
Weiter so, Klasse.
@@ronaldkanne So, it appears from here (Missouri), that you straddle/hover over the live center and just push. Does it harm the live center or is it so quick that no harm is done or do I have the prices wrong?
I really enjoy and appreciate your videos, but that tool looks like one I bought from Eddie Castelin several years ago ... it was on page 8 of his Spring catalog!
It is a great pleasure to watch your videos. I really admire your knowledge of wood and the mastery of your gestures. I found your hollow froms magnificent. I don't have the skills to get into a job like this today. Know that I really regret it, I would have liked so much to win your tool to empty the shavings. (traduction google)
Love watching your videos, such a relaxed and friendly manner. From now on you’ll be known as Cool Hand Kanne!
I'll wear that name with pride! 😀
I am now addicted to your video’s…..more please
Hahaha! Be careful with addictions! We'll be recording a new one soon...🙂
Love the walnut, love the hollow form. Always enjoy your videos, always upbeat and fun. Thanks Ronald

Thx Frank! Have a nice Christmas! See you next year!
Thanks Frank! Best wishes
I'm glad you turned it around. I am also one of those people who like bark, bugs and other inclusions. Thats the fun of turning. Cant send pictures.
Also thank you for sharing and Merry Christmas and a Happy new year
Merry Christmas Garth!
Beautiful ❤ thanks for sharing,
I love the live edge hollow forms. You have given me quite a few wonderful ideas.
That is good to hear!!! Tnx

Hi Wolfgang, danke dir. Die Maschiene ist ein Makita Winkelbohrer...
Great video as always, wasn't fussed about hollow forms until now. More tools to add to my wish list. Thanks Ronald, do we get a Christmas special??
Noooo! No more christmas specials!!! 🤣
i can make the prize but the piece is awesome, thank you for sharing
Thoroughly enjoying your videos, thank you for sharing
Very educational demonstration Ronald, thank you. Beautiful piece. I will try this
I was too late for the february hollowing course, but the next one I'll be there (hopefully).
next one is also sold out Ruben!... :-)
@@ronaldkanne darn it. either I need to be faster or you need to give more courses 🙂
I will definitely give this a try. I haven't made a natural edge hollow form yet.

Thanks for your kind words!

Great video! Thank you. I’m looking for a log to make my next hollow form using your technique.
Good Lucky! Make it a beautifull one!
May I copy the shaving remover? Is there a royalty I owe?
haha! You are free to copy Gary!
Of course, I wouldn’t mind the $49.95, but the $100.00 shipping 😄

Do you use carbide oops for hollowing?
Most of the time i use the Pro Forme hollowers by Woodcut. Sometimes in small work i use the round carbide cutters...
Would it also be possible, to take the rotten opening as the top opening?
Sure! why not!?
@@ronaldkanne That was my first idea, when the video started and I was wondering why you choose the other side 🤔
@@dieiuai-malebenselbstgebau1523 because of the shape of the rim that started to show during the turning...

How many times have you gotten to the final scrapping and lost the piece?
Well, I too lost some pieces when i started of course..😀
Where do you buy your wigs?
I grow them myself. I put lots of effort and love in it. And then you have this beautiful outcome! 🤣
Ronald, which video has a good close up of your tool for sizing tenons?
Hey Joe, that must be the bowl turning video... let me have a look...
