Where on the trigger you pull is hugely important. Also important is the angle of pull. If you pull out and away from the gun, or pull high or low, will through off the vector of the pull and the value. User error far more likely to cause variation than the tool in this case. I have one of these and live it, but i definitely went through you questioning of the need to know, and the price of that knowlege. I love the Triggertech Variable triggers for my ARs, and the guage was really helpful to match the triggers from gun to gun. One very important thing to bring out is how great Wheeler with their warranty and customer service. One of the best. I bought my guage used off Amazon. Turned out there was a software issue. I could have just returned it to Amazon, but decided to call Wheeler to make sure there wasn't some user or other easy fix i could do over the phone. I told Wheeler the issue I was having, sent them a photo of the display, and within 2-3 days, I had a replacement in hand. Highly recommended oll their stuff...
