  • The long awaited reassembly video of the Rincon 680. In this video I show how to install the transmission, rebuild the oil pump, replace the first gear clutches, install the rings, and adjust the valves.
    Also check out my two other videos I have for this bike where I removed the engine • Honda Rincon 680 Motor... as well as a video where I tore the motor down • Honda Rincon 680 Engin... . Enjoy!

      Well it can be 180 degrees off. The piston can be at the top on the exhaust stroke. It seems like most of the people on here have questions or fears about timing so I try to cover it on all my engine video. Thanks for watching.

    I ran an oil pump pressure test on the 700 BR I'm working on. Only got 25 psi, supposed to read 114 psi,(according to the manual). So, obvious oil pump problem. After watching this video, I have come to the conclusion, that the pump design is absolutely horrible. A high pressure three rotor pump driven by a chain. The oil pump chain behind the timing chain. The oil pickup on the other side of a case, and with what appears to be very little clearance between the pickup and the bottom of the case. Yeah, what could possibly fail with this design? Good video, though, with several good tips!!!!

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 роки тому

      That's what it sounds like. The pumps aren't too bad to rebuild but they aren't the easiest to get to on the big red. I have had the chains come off before as well because they do not have a tensioner to keep them tight.

    • @brianmcneese9659

      Well, according to the owner, this tranny was rebuilt 2 years ago at a Honda dealership. I'm wondering what they overlooked to get it out the door. Due to the fact that this unit doesn't have an hour meter or speedometer on it, and it's 12 years old, I'll just replace the pump. It doesn't cost that much more, and there are too many unknowns and variables not to. Thanks for your videos. Very helpful!!!

    I have a rincon and just rebuilt the top end and got everything set right and just turned it over a little and it ticks. I’ve narrowed it down to the lifter cup on the exhaust side kinda taps on top of the cam lobe when turned to a certain point so I took the head back off a few times then looking down the hole where the lifter cup sits it looks like the cam lobe is way off center. And the lifter cup is taping one what appears to be some sort of oil pick up on cam shaft. Timing this motor is a little weirder or stranger than other motors being that you put it at top dead center crank and you Pistons at the very top then you put your camshaft on and you put that line on and then you put your heads on or another deals you put your head on I mean you got your head and all that stuff on and you put your camshaft on and you can tell what you compression stroke by the clothes and open up the valves what are you doing this case if you don't have the compression stroke to take the heads back off and turn the cam all the way back around or something just a little strange here I'm going to watch and see how you do it but I don't know if we ever from what I've seen so far talk about the compression stroke and that's a little confusing to me on this part since I've never done a motor like this I'm doing right now but one that didn't already have the cam that goes on top of the heads itself and then you could find a compression stroke by the opening and closing of the cam at your top dead center or the open and closing of your valves because if you can at the top dead center compression stroke

    • @FourwheelerDoctor
      @FourwheelerDoctor  3 роки тому

      Greeting from South Carolina. I told my 75 year old mom that someone sent me a message about a four wheeler from Africa and she said is he going to bring it? LOL. It sounds like you're heading in the right direction. You should check the valve clearance first. Then when it's at top dead center you can remove the cam chain tensioner and let it extend out. Insert the tensioner back in to see if the tensioner bottoms out before it hits the cam chain inside the engine. If the tensioner bottoms out you need a cam chain if it doesn't bottom out sometimes these tensioners when they get extended way out do not hold pressure on the chain like they should. There are some UA-cam videos of how to increase the strength of the tensioner. I don't have one but I have one watched one before.

      @@johannesclaassens9519 I have had trouble with the tensioners before. If you removed the tensioner and stuck it back in without retracting it then you probably need a cam chain.
