@Peter Ang : It is the Nightwish arrangement -- Tuomas lowered the scale by a whole step when he composed his arrangement for Tarja -- it's why Floor only hits a D6, instead of the original E6.

The original Christine, per the original composition, is supposed to hit an E6 -- and the composition here, at the same point in the piece, hits only a D6.
Therefore, the composition played during Beste Zangers is not the original, as the difference between the two is a full step in scale. And since the original composition is not being used, then the only conclusion that can be reached is that since Floor Jansen is singing, and her day job is singing for Nightwish, then it is only logical that the composition is the Nightwish composition.
@@isaiahwelch8066 Problem is that Tarja sang the E6 in the Nightwish arragement... and so could Floor if she wanted to. Her Range is up to F6. It was just a musical choice cause she holds the D6 for over 7 seconds at the end. Something even she cant do singing the E6. And I never heared any version where any singer could do that.
“Shallow” with Floor from this same Best Zangers show is yet another facet of her amazing voice.

Not just any show - Floor's mom took her to see Phantom when she was 13, with a young Henk Poort in the title role. She has said he was her inspiration to get into singing. Can you imagine what it must have been like for her to perform this duet with her role model?

@@chrisgrethlein6196 additionaly, Henk was usually singing this song softer but learned to use a rougher voice in honor of floors metal background. And he agreed to sing with her under the condition that when Nightwish will be back in netherlands again he can sing the metal version with her.

Floor killed it as she was performing with her childhood idol who played the Phantom when she saw the play as a young girl!!! Check out the rest of her stunning performances in this show as she sang in different genres and different languages and killed each and everyone of them. Great reaction and the look on your faces throughout was all I need to see, forget your commentary those looks and open mouths were great!!!

Anybody notice that not only does Floor hit that end note and sustain it for EVER. but she times her vibrato to the beat of the music. I've never heard anyone hit that note with such absolute control.

Yes. Agree. Up voting this one. I listen to How's the heart acoustic way more than the album version, which is also great, but the acoustic is just to good.
Floor is the greatests female singer i have ever heard to this day.
An opera singer using distortion in his voice & Floor's sustained D6 at the end are the highlight of this stellar live performance of the Nightwish version of this Andrew LLoyd Webber classic.
That last note is a D6 and she held it for 8!!!!!!! seconds with power behind it, all the time. But I just love, how clear and pure her voice is. She can just change her style and tone at will, add effects to it.
Don't forget Henk, who still has a brilliant voice at 65 years. He was the Dutch Phantom for many years and Andrew Lloyd Webber's favorite one. A true master. Floor has got a musical crush on him. He uses distortion for the second time in his life, here. The first time was his rendition of "Sound of Silence" (Close to the Disturbed-V.ersion), sung for Floor, at the same show. A performance worth watching.
whoever Chris is, thank you guy for requesting Floor Jansen and Nightwish all the time. It's a pleasure to watch these reactions. And listening to Floor is always a highlight no matter what song, what genre, what performance. She is Simply the Best (as Tina would say). Not to forget Henk did a fantastic job which is no surprise as he is the original Phantom in the Netherlands.
Yes I also agree with Freethinker that Shallow is another one from the Beste Zangers series to check out. There's actually two versions. One with Floor solo and a duet with Floor and Tim Ackerman. Both are fantastic!

Henk does a cover of the sound of Silence, Floor loves the version done by the band Disturbed. And he did it for her. The look on floor's face when he absolutely nails it big time is priceless
Just FYI, Henk is the Phantom of the Opera that Floor looked up to when she was younger. So she said she was totally fan girling during this. Which is so sweet. Their voices blend really well during this. And I loved this because I am a HUGE POTO fan! My family go Everytime we can. You should react to Floor's other Beste Zangers moments but, with the subtitles. You get to hear why they pick the songs they pick. And the other singers reactions to the performance! Especially when she sings Tim's song "Winner" and when she sings " Mama" EVERYONE CRIES! She sings in English, German and Spanish. But she doesn't speak Spanish. Can you imagine rewriting music and trying to figure out how to sing in a language you don't know???
The amazing thing about this show is that you are a n a small venue and have to adapt you singing from huge concert halls to a small room of your peers. So the music and your voice have to be pared down a lot. You can easily over or underwhelm that space. And Floor dominates it! It's nice to see her vocal gymnastics!!!
The look on your faces when she held that D6 for 8 seconds with no flaws was absolutely precious!!! You need to check out all her performance from this Beste Zengers show. Also, since you like Henks voice his version of 'Sound of Silence' from same show. He learn a special thing to do with his voice just for Floor.

I'm guessing Henk could probably sing this in his sleep. He was the original Phantom in the first Dutch production of it in the 90s. And, well, Floor is just so bloody versatile. She can sing anything, and, make it sound amazing.

a month ago I showed this video of the Phantom to my mother , and immediately afterwards i showed the video of Revamp (former band of Floor Jansen) with the song "Disdain" live at graspop. My mother had never heard of Floor Jansen, so when the second song was over, i told my mom that in both videos the singer was the same person. My mom couldn't believe it. The surprised face was really funny.

As you might have read, Henk is our own, Dutch, real Phantom. He performed this role for Webber for many years. ‘ Best Phantom’ according to Webber himself! Proud to be Dutch!

That thunder at the beginning was real, not a sound effect - this show was filmed outdoors, under a tent (in Ibiza, I think?) and a huge storm blew in while they were filming. You might also notice some drips coming down, where the tent was leaking a bit. Floor being our Valkyrie Goddess, we suspect Thor might have showed up to listen! :-)

Yes great singers the both of them for sure but I want to bring your attention to the Marcel Fisser Band that backed them up. They have played every song on Beste Zangers since the beginning of the show and they are among the best musicians in the Netherlands. They really brought glory to themselves on this performance.

Guys, since you did that, you should check out Nightwish's cover of the Phantom of the Opera (live of course, from the "End of an Era" DVD) with their original singer, Tarja Turunen! Floor is their third singer actually and what most people don't realize is that most of the songs people love (like Ghost love score, Romanticide etc...) are songs written for Tarja's voice! Check it out and compare! Keep rockin'!!

Queen to D6, Checkmate!
Henk was the phantom in the Dutch production of the original stage musical, and reportedly Andrew Loyd Webber's favourite of all the singers who have played the part. So he knows the part perfectly, with over 600 performances!
Floor was taken to see the production as a child and absolutely idolises Henk, and he is a huge fan of hers too. This was a late addition to the show when they realised it would be possible - Henk agreed to the duet as long as he could perform it again with Nightwish when they were next playing in the Netherlands, Tuomas agreed, so it is, at last, back in the setlist.
Now we don't know (because of covid) when it will be possible, but reactions to it are going to be massive (and undoubtedly positive) come the day it happens. I'd walk there from the UK over broken glass on my crutches to be there, but zero chance of me making it, sadly, as I can only manage about 10 metres at a stretch and my mobility scooter only has a range of about 30 miles before an overnight recharge :-(
Henk is amazing too ... this performance by both of them is magic. And the band behind them ..........
I dont know if you've reacted to more performances from this show/season, but if not... beware of the rabbit hole...
Everyone you saw in the video, is a singer of talent, and each has given us at least one or two songs that were pure gold.
Henk and Floor stood out tho, both gave perfect performances in each episode, you cant go wrong with any of those songs they did.
A simple to make prediction on what people are now going to suggest... simple like i said, everything Floor, everything Henk (minus one song), most of Rolf, Emma and Tim, some of Samantha and Ruben.
It's songs from all across the board, rock to traditional Dutch, to Latin to classical and musical theater and anything inbetween, but each time the standards are very high to say the least.
Either way, just an "early warning" on what to expect if you go down this (lovely) road to discover more from this amazing tv show.

Fun fact, it was a demand of Floor for doing this show: she could duet this with Henk. The plan for the 2020 Nightwish tour was that he would perform with them. But well... that obviously didnt happen

Everyone is talking about these amazing actors/singers, but no one react to this amazing Marcel Fisher band and their background singers. IMO world highest level of musicians. They played everything the singers ask them, classical, rock, pop, folk, opera, metal, country. and so on
This is a solid D6 held for 7-8 seconds. In The Greatest Show On Earth, she hits a G5 repeatedly at the end of not only a 20-minute song but a whole concert.

Floor is an expert in duet singing. Henk sings on the beat 'in Your mind..' whereas Floor does 'in -My mind' with a small delay, so we hear both.

Her style of singing in this song, with the small "wicked vocal twist" in the line "the phantom of the opera is there" seems to switch the whole story. you could think he is the one being possessed by her. I love this song soooo much

Hello you two lovely metal heads, you still only have experienced fractions of Floor's capabilities - but I guess you already know that. If you take a complete session of Floor's singing in Beste Zangers, you'll see her in different languages and styles - and before this show, she was fairly unknown in The Netherlands - well, that changed (she had to do 10!! ekstra shows afterwards, which were sold out in less than 24 hours!!) - the last one is postponed due to COVID-19, but will come, be recorded and put on the NET for free, due to crowd funding, Floor arranged (ehh, she went a little bit over budget 😂 - in a couple of hours from the Nightwish Army).
But next - just to show another side of Floor - please react to:
While Love Died, from Northward, 2018. Pure, sweaty happy hard rock - only drums, a guitar and Floor (guitarist is Bjørn Viggo Lofstad from Pagan's Mind - awesome guitar ist).
She also has her sister singing in the song " Drifting Islands" on this album - Irene is taller than Floor!! But that just means more volume for power voice - it is actually hard to say who is singing some times - Irene is also a very talented singer!!

Just recently discovered your channel through your reaction videos, and these are GREAT! As a result, I also checked out your music videos, and even though your band is a subgenre of metal I am not normally drawn to, I really like what I am hearing. You have a new fan. Recommendation for a future reaction (I may have recommend this already; can't remember): Epica - Consign to Oblivion (live at Zenith)
A couple of quick notes:
Henk is a classically-trained professional Opera/ musical performer.
He did over 1,000 performances of Phantom of the Opera, Dutch language.
Floor has a big fan crush on him, and lists him as one of her idols/influences.
He learned how to use distortion specifically so he could perform this song with Floor.

You should definitely check out Nightwish - Romanticide, live at Wacken 2013. Towards the end of the song, Floor belts out this insane banshee wail, going perfectly up and down the scale. Talk about voice control and power!
