I'm not a Big Country Music Fan but I like Keith Urban's guitar playing. He seems like a Real Down to Earth type of Dude. Plus he has Killer taste in Guitars & Equipment. Thanks Premier Guitar.
I'm not a country fan at all but every time I have heard Keith..when it comes to him soloing he seems to have a rock feel to him. Plus, the man has exquisite taste in vintage guitars.
Keith got brought up during what us Aussies call the Pub Rock era featuring bands like Cold Chisel, INXS, The Angels, Midnight Oil to name a few. As you noted it comes across in his playing style which is definitely more rock in style than what most would associate with country guitar players.
Keith Urban is so much more than a genre. He's a musician, an artist, and a master guitar 🎸 player. His bedrock is a country music influence that has expanded beyond the norm of what people consider country music. He's a great singer/songwriter, now a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame!
Why do people have to bash on him for being country, country pop, or whatever else you can come up with? The dude can shred on guitar. If you are watching a guitar rig rundown on youtube, I imagine you're a guitar nut like me. I had assumed that if you like guitar, you'd appreciate a guitarist and any song with sick solo's. Regardless of the genre.... But that's none of my business.
some ppl have it and some don't. I have seen so many guitar players that can play great but they don't FEEL it. Next please.... K. U. PLAYS GREAT, and he FEELS it. He's one of those cats that I have a hard time imagining doing anything else.
Kevin Urbeck Mr. Urban is a fantastic guitar player. I've seen him on other programs playing blues with some big names and he fits right in. The guy is no slouch.
This is the best rundown I've seen. My friend Marc used to be Keith's tech and said it was a very demanding job. This guy seems like a great tech. Totally knowledgeable and friendly. Great segment.
pfft no i disagree and think this is the worst rundown i've seen, it's so much shittier when the fuckboy techie does the gear instead of the real musician, it takes the whole purpouse of it out why not rename this video "Rig Rundown - Chris Miller" cos that just rolls of the tongue DUH!
Been waiting for this video since PG posted that there was gonna be a new Keith Urban rig rundown, 4 weeks ago! Loved the rig, Keith is my biggest idol.
Saw him live this year, and still remember it as my favorite live show. Also so John Mayer (which I'm a huge huge fan of) and various others. Keith Urban is a killer guitarist and a consumate musician. Beautiful.
pfft no i disagree, it's so much shittier when the fuckboy techie does the gear instead of the real musician, it takes the whole purpouse of it out why not rename this video "Rig Rundown - Chris Miller" cos that just rolls of the tongue DUH!

Chris used to tech for Peter Frampton, I'm pretty sure! He definitely knows his stuff! That's why Keith keeps him around! And, Keith is a great guitar player whether anyone likes his music or not. Go back and listen to his first record, In The Ranch, and listen to early Dixie Chicks albums he played on...follow his career from there and see how far he's come and how many different styles he has played!
CriscoNabisc0 yeah I personally like his music but his guitar playing and gear far surpass what he puts out from the studio. Live though he plays like no one else.
Also, in my opinion this guitar tech is a pure pro. Not only does he know what he's talking about, but he's extremely articulate with his description of the rig. Also thanks for the gaff tape trick!
Yea but it doesn't compare to when the artist themselves do the RR and know even more than the tech does. One example that many people seem not to like(because he apparently talk TOO MUCH about his gear) is Kenny Wayne Shepherd. That's one of my favorites, TBH. And it's not becusee Kenny is a hometown hero, either. Even though he is one of my hometown guitar heroes. Kenny knows his stuff and loves nerding out on gear. Another of my hometown guitar heroes is Leadbelly aka Huddie William Ledbetter, who was from here, as well as Kenny Wayne. We have a bronze statue of Leadbelly playing his guitar in the middle of downtown. It's always been one of my favorite local statues and especially now that I play guitar 👍 Kenny did a thing a couple of years ago at Leadbellys gravesight on his birthday(?) where he played his guitar at Leadbellys grave in honor and remembrance of him.
Been playing a 53 year old Bassman for 54 years. That's quite a feat. I'm just playing mate, what a cool combination. I think you've had it about perfect for a long time
+Matt Campbell Hey you guys have me beat, I'm 65...started out at age 10 in 1960 with a 1958 Telecaster with a Fender Champ amp. I'm playing PRS these days...mostly I still have a custom Telecaster that a luthier in Maine built for me in 2014 but I play mostly A PRS 245 with P-90's and it makes me happy as a pig in deep mud....
pfft no i disagree, it's so much shittier when the fuckboy techie does the gear instead of the real musician, it takes the whole purpouse of it out why not rename this video "Rig Rundown - Chris Miller" cos that just rolls of the tongue DUH!
wow, different OD peds for that just right tones. Shows how a" just one 4 all od tones" pedal or rack mount units can't duplicate all presets. just the wiring, pots, and different voltages can change drastically. . Then to think whats shown here could be for huge arenas or whats right for his in ear or stage monitors. interesting to think back of letting go of my Mesa mk 3 to have something better in a box .
That PRS Mirro looks like a knock off of the old 1970's Guild S60 type guitars. Same Bridge, glued in neck....very similiar. I bet it plays well. I like how the switch is set further back.....you can't accidentally hit it like a strat. The guild has a three way set further back.
wow so I discovered that I use the same picks as Keith and I play the same way i.e using the "fat corner" lol it doesn't make me sound any better or play anywhere as close to as good as Keith does, but still cool in an ironic way....
poot111111 I am the master repairman for Deering Banjos and have worked on the banjo in this video... After hearing that EMG, I installed one in my own banjo got studio work. Super great pickup that they custom make for banjo. We also use EMG banjo pickups in our Crossfire electric banjo, but those pickups are quite different. They sound more like electric guitar pickups, voiced for banjo. A good example of that sound would be “Prickly Pear” by Béla Fleck and the Flecktones. He uses his Deering Crossfire on that. But the EMG in Keith’s banjo is more of a cleaner sound and works better for more “acoustic” sounding stuff. We also have banjo heads with humbuckers installed right on the head by a company called Kavanjo. That’s the pickup that Winston from Mumford & Sons uses on his Deerings.
Some like to binge watch Netflix....and some of us like to binge watch Rig Rundowns.

Bro I've been doing this lately setting up my rig
🤘
Hahaha! Dude....totally
That's what my rig is missing, a back-up Dumble for my Dumble...
Keith needs a backup guitar tech for his guitar tech by the looks. If Chris goes down, Keith would be in a real pickle I reckon.
This guy sounds like an awesome tech. I like that he remembers by name the guys at the companies and is super tech-y for us gear-nerd types.
I'm not a Big Country Music Fan but I like Keith Urban's guitar playing. He seems like a Real Down to Earth type of Dude. Plus he has Killer taste in Guitars & Equipment. Thanks Premier Guitar.
This tech, Chris Miller, EARNS his pay. Holy crap. I've never seen a tech have to work as hard as him!
I bet he’s paid VERY well.
I'm not a country fan at all but every time I have heard Keith..when it comes to him soloing he seems to have a rock feel to him. Plus, the man has exquisite taste in vintage guitars.
He's an NZ/AU crossbreed. Of course he has great taste in guitars ;)
Keith got brought up during what us Aussies call the Pub Rock era featuring bands like Cold Chisel, INXS, The Angels, Midnight Oil to name a few.
As you noted it comes across in his playing style which is definitely more rock in style than what most would associate with country guitar players.
That guy would have to be the most articulate guitar techs I've seen on any of these vids.
@Yak Sox. You're not wrong there mate. Looks like he certainly earns his keep.
was just thinking this guy's GOOD
Yeah. The way he was aware to say hey how ya doing at the beginning. Like come on Jason. Get it together.... 💪👏🙌 haha
Not a country music fan but I know a great player when
I hear one! Keith is the real deal and has amazing taste in equipment! All my respect!

Clutterbilly is a favorite all time of mine
Kevin Urbeck Mr. Urban is a fantastic guitar player. I've seen him on other programs playing blues with some big names and he fits right in. The guy is no slouch.
+Kevin Urbeck What if I hate country but like good guitar players? Can't I love his playing but hate his music at the same time?
You are correct and fully supported by me. I learned so much from guys like this.
This is the best rundown I've seen. My friend Marc used to be Keith's tech and said it was a very demanding job. This guy seems like a great tech. Totally knowledgeable and friendly. Great segment.

Very interesting for a change
what a great technical chap
obviously loves his job
Urban is a good boss
thanks
Been waiting for this video since PG posted that there was gonna be a new Keith Urban rig rundown, 4 weeks ago! Loved the rig, Keith is my biggest idol.
I love how he modded a Jim Root Tele. Badassssssssss.
best RR in a while, awesome job. modern country guys do no disappoint in the gear dept.
Saw him live this year, and still remember it as my favorite live show. Also so John Mayer (which I'm a huge huge fan of) and various others. Keith Urban is a killer guitarist and a consumate musician. Beautiful.
Great rundown. Keith obviously loves his guitars & gear. Seriously underrated.
I haven't listened to much of Keith Urban, but his rig is very cool and so is his tech.
31:20 That Dumble OD Special is actually for sale in Nashville as we speak. Yes... THE one in this video that KU used.
How much ?
Sold to Mark Tremonti. There's a studio video where he thanks Keith for the deal somewhere on here.
Wow, I wonder when Dumble made that amp for Tom Verlaine? Television were only a big deal in the UK for a couple of years and that was it..
Who can dislike this? Everything from Fender & PRS to Dumbles... they must not like tone..
me, just cos it's not Keith Urban doing gear, it's just some random fuckboy
i can
@@KeeperOfPoops That "random fuckboy" knows a lot. You have no class.
Tyler Hie
What a nice guy. Honestly, I'd sooner listen to him talk about Keith's gear than Keith himself.

Maton acoustics are gorgeous. John Butler plays them too. Beautiful sound.
Keith is an amazing guitarist. He could fit right in playing in a hard rock band. I believe he played in a Van Halen covers band. Got some chops man.
It's nice when the guitar techs actually know what's going on

Gibson Les Paul Jr. at 6:00 is the only guitar you will ever need! I have a 61'. 9's Ernie Balls. Great for country, blues, rock, and Metal.
This guy is GREAT...knows his stuff....I'm sure Keith is happy to have this guy! Thanks PG for another great post! On ya mates!
you know your a boss when" the big show" is your guitar tech.
Slow to the party, but this is one of the greatest observations ever 🤣😂
so much gear so many amps etc . it gets the job done . a never ending journey to find the best sound . great video excellent presentation

Well he was smoking back in Australia WAY before he got to Nashville or fucked Nicole Kidman...
Hot Country Guitar I didn’t know Keith played on Dixie chicks records
Love the sound check in the background Bob Marley: could you be loved. Thanks y’all. Hey Keith can’t wait to jam.🎸🌮
You can hate his work, but I still think Urban is on the very short list of true "musicians" in country today.
I'm not a big fan of country, but I admire his work because he still cares about the music he's playing
Agreed. Though I am a fan of country lol
CriscoNabisc0 yeah I personally like his music but his guitar playing and gear far surpass what he puts out from the studio. Live though he plays like no one else.
I don't even like his music yet I still watch these videos because everybody has a unique set up. great stuff.
Brad Paisely could rip Keith Urbans face off. Urban seems like a way cooler guy though, and Brad Paisely has to be one of the worst songwriters ever.
Also, in my opinion this guitar tech is a pure pro. Not only does he know what he's talking about, but he's extremely articulate with his description of the rig. Also thanks for the gaff tape trick!
This is a great one and he is a great tech/interviewee. Really fun to watch and listen too.
The Caboolture Kid has come a long way from a Peavey Bandit and a Boss comp and OD 1.......
He had a great sound then as well!...cheers
While idiots like KISS are smashing guitars every night, this guy gives em away. I'm not a big fan of his music but he's a cool fuckin dude.
WOW Thankyou . I really enjoyed this Rundown. Can't wait till Keith gets back to Brisbane
What a superb guitar/sound tech to have your back 👏👌 theres nothing you wouldn't trust Chris with 👊🍻🍺🍾🥂
He's gotta be competing with Dan Auerbach's tech for the most well spoken tech in this series. He didn't bore me at all, awesome.
Yea but it doesn't compare to when the artist themselves do the RR and know even more than the tech does. Does Keith Urban have the best guitar stash of all the rundowns? Maybe
That jam in the background is killer
The guy noodling around on his guitar in the background has a really nice tone!
I have been playing a 1962 bassman with a 1958 strat for 54 years. Beat that.

Great job Jason!
Best rig vid heard in ages bar none.
Tele necks on strats, strat necks on teles, dogs and cats living together, Armageddon!
Very descriptive and humble
I was so shocked and laughed so hard when he said “Jim Root!” I’m like what!?
D'Addario 11's is what I use myself, except I use the XT strings. They feel great and sound killer. Otherwise I use NYXL 13's for a B tuning.
That custom Jim Root telecaster is NUTS, would love to meet the guy who added the cam mod
Had no idea Keith Urban played so many P90 guitars. I always figured he basically played a bunch of Teles.
We need a 2022 update rig rundown
2023 maybe?
2024?
Q: What's the difference between an Esteban infomercial Guitar and a Keith Urban HSN guitar?
A" The Urban will burn longer!
Such an awesome rig! And cool guitar tech, really knows his stuff. Seems like a real gear junkie.
That's a $2500 delay pedal...
Going into a $50,000 amp!
Anchovy Run They make those? I've only ever used Marshall and Ampeg lol.
fordracing32 they sure do lol well one guy does. Several people also make 2-10k clones..
I want a $2500 delay pedal.
Why. Why would ANYONE need a $2500 delay.
🥀Amazing info on Keith Urban & his guitars🥀🤘🎸
Where was his signature tele with pearl inlays?!
Keith is a standup guy and a hell of a guitar player. Only admiration and respect for Keith.
Great stuff, sounds like Keith is a fan of a bigger neck like myself. I have the perfect touring and studio neck for him!

Not a fan of Keith urban but I do like his dumbles. In the right hands those amps are magic give them back Keith !!
They are in great hands. Are you kidding? Keith is an amazing player, whether you like him or not.
That reggae style jam in the background sounds like "Could You Be Loved," by Bob Marley....for those who thought that the sound check was cool.

holy shit, The big Show is a Tech too. awesomest
I'm not sure if he has enough guitars.
Is that just a jam at 24:20 or is it an actual song?
Omg when they were playing the riff to good thing in the background.... is he still Keith urbans guitar tech ? In 2018
Chris Miller, great job here, likable. Thanks!
Keith just released his album right now I wonder if his rig still the same...🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
That man has an awesome job. I am jealous. I don't even like country, much less Keith Urban. I just want to be able to play with those guitars.
I thought he was actor- Dr McCoy in Star Trek. I didn't know he was musical performer too. That's quite cool
Jim Root tele 👍🏻
