I'm looking at UA-cam as a marathon not a sprint. Stuck at 12 subs but just like I was stuck at running 5k once a week for a couple of years due to having shin splints in my legs, I eventually completed a full marathon. We got this everyone!

    • @StratMatt777

I just clicked on you to see your videos. Your channel is not going to get any traction with negative/lack/fail negative themed videos because people want to ESCAPE and feel GOOD, not be brought into your reality of things that you perceive as being negative in your life. People click on a video to be entertained by something interesting and uplifting that makes them feel happy.
      I sincerely hope this helps.

Training for a marathon myself while doing my YT channel right now It's definitely the same mindset for sure. Bringing commitment, consistency, and effort in every week for a long term goal is how I will be treating my channel. I really hope to monetize soon if I can build an audience.

A lot of this stuff isn't even UA-cam specific, many people trying to make a living out of anything neglect to understand you need a brand (read that as "identity" if the word "brand" scares you). Getting that right and understanding the audience for that brand sets everything up going forward.

I'm revamping an older channel into gaming. I started with one game and now I'm branching out, not sure my subscribers are completely here for it, but I'm enjoying trying different games. I think my problem is I like a huge variety of games, cozy and survival.

I was too constrained to 2 games myself, Star Wars and Cod, I think my problem is I need to start branching out to a bigger audience, going to be uploading a helldivers video this week since there is so much hype for it since last month. Really trying to get a chance at building a solid audience. Definitely play games that make you happy as well though!

Growth was slow for my channel until a few months ago when I started leaning into a video format that had worked well for me previously. It's not that it was an unheard of idea/concept, but it's an underserved one, so it's allowed me to carve out my own little space and deliver things that aren't getting much content despite some desire from fans of the game (BG3 in this case).

From my experience as a small creator, it really sometimes feels random at least for me. I've only had two of my videos reach 2k views, all of the other ones are under 1k views. The thing about it is I don't really understand is why they exploded, since for me they took less effort to make than the ones that took hours to make. I like making the content that I do, but it is a bit demotivating that not many people get to see what I make.

I think I can take some of this advice for my aquarium fish channel! I've been trying to think of ideas that aren't the same "how to set up a fish tank" videos, that would be interesting and entertaining.

My biggest struggle with exploring different games is time. Just trying to get one video out a week is difficult for me at the moment and I guess I'm nervous about losing the very small amount of subscribers that I have managed to get if they have to wait longer for the content they subscribed for.
Thanks for another helpful video, gives me things to think about ☺

Some creators post once in a few months, and it works for them, find the posting schedule you are comfortable with and stick to it:)

I know what you mean. I knew when I started my channel I was going to play different games but of the same genre but I work full time so I can only record once a week and spend 15 hrs. or more recording different games and then edit them thru out the week so I maybe upload one video or two a week but I have video's standing by needing to be edited, so I'm not killing myself to try to record and edit at the same time. But I just recently got back lash from a subscriber criticize me for NOT playing one game he likes 24 / 7. But thankfully my other subscribers have been supporting me and made their opinion known to me that they support me and love the different content I bring to the channel and like seeing different things being played. I think in the beginning it is rough you'll get subs but then lose them as you make adjustments but once you get into your full comfort zone and say this is what I will be doing than you'll start finding the people that like you just for you. 😀😊

Yeah, your mindset it’s gonna have you fail we are overthinking it too much like he said they are creators who don’t post every day they post every six months or so and they come back to watch every time because they put out good videos and it’s their favorite favorite creator a lot of UA-camrs from 2017 were posting every day until they got to 1 million subscribers and then they started posting whenever they felt like it to be once a week or streaming once a week you’re posting videos, you need to be doing research on how to promote your channel you can use websites even UA-cam has a system where they promote your videos to get more views and show them to subscribers but a lot of people don’t know because they don’t do the research and that’s why they fail

@@98kgames4 If you post 1 video every 6 months, it will take about 30 years to get 10,000 views per video.

I like to think as views as people who stopped by to watch you play something. My first video on a different channel only got 13 views, but thats like if 13 people walked into my house to watch me play a game. Putting it like that makes it seem like a lot of people!

I'm a small channel with 141 subscribers, however im so proud of it. not only 3 momths ago I reached 100 subsribers because of a sudden burst of views and comments and i still get them now. All the milestones of reaching 1300 views on a video, reaching 5000 views on a short, reaching 100 subscribers is really insane to think about.

I'm trying a strategy here that on paper seems good for the build up, but my channel it's still really young (3 weeks). Basically I'm trying to do content on a game that has yet to release in order to have a set stack of videos of that subject once the open beta and the full release launch. Being a game yet to release it doesn't have a stack of big creator already on the matter and the demand is obviously higher than the offer, so I often appear in the first 6 videos that pop up when you reaserch it. If I keep doing content like that I will sure have a chance to appear beetween the first once the game gets more popular. Since it's difficult to have that much content on a game that has yet to release I also thought to make content on a game of the same company and specifically of the same ip, hoping to teach the algorithm. Wish me luck guys!

I can't do categories of games because I don't have a good PC to stream on. I'm using a low-end potato PC. If I stream other games, it's not playable because it gets very laggy and such. I'm a Roblox streamer. In my opinion, you should only stream categories of games if you're running a story gaming channel. You need to understand that most of your viewers are interested in a specific game. But when you play different games, you can't maintain a consistent audience, so your channel's growth will decrease.

I wanted to play older games and make it like a revisiting series. Idk if that would work but the titles would be something like "is skyrim still good". Or compare diablo 1 to 4 while playing.
