Thank you so much for the review! As the game is quite niche I assumed viewers would understand the idea of the challenge (being that PvE is ok but PvP is not) as it's a tight nit community. The bones of the video are the funny roleplay Voip interactions with other players begging them not to kill me etc. Not debating you, just explaining my thought process lol. I suppose I should have gotten to the bones faster. That lack of consideration for viewers unfamiliar with the game is something I will definitely think harder on. Nonetheless I really appreciate the feedback. I have made more guide content since and it is much less satisfying for me personally. This video came in clutch and I will get back to doing what I enjoy over what I think will perform well! I intend to use all these tips in the next video! Also it's "Dun-Yun Rings" lol
Assuming viewers know the game and therefore assume the rules of the challenge is like a game skipping the tutorial because it assumes you've played games before.
@@DunnionRingsheheheperhaps “Non-PvP” or “PvP Pacifist” would be better ways to label the challenge? Still gets the same point across, but appears more “honest” to the uninitiated!
Wow, thank you so much for picking my video submission! Your advice makes a lot of sense looking at my retention graph, a lot of viewers did skip ahead to just watch the second run. I will take a look to see if there's any way to trim down the first section, but this may just have to be a lesson I take with me to my next video due to the way I structured everything. Thank you again! 😊
Thank you so much for the review🔥 it was the first time I made a video essay, and yes, so much can be improved from it, especially the hook and packaging. I implemented the change you're suggesting right away, and it does look so much better and more interesting than before. For the hook, I'm working on it, and I hope to keep improving day after day. Once again, thank you Dan and VidIQ for the review and advice🔥🔥🔥❤
Here's something that can help the Minecraft video essay: Bring the thesis into the title. People are hooked by profound ideas. Like the essays you wrote in school, there's an argument behind what you're trying to say. If you can bring that argument/thesis into the title in a clear way, it will hook more viewers who want to know more about this new profound idea that you are presenting the community. The title of that video essay didn't really tell me what his argument about, which is why I wouldn't have clicked on it. "You can make Minecraft better"... but how? By creating a personal challenge? By going live on Twitch to make gameplay less boring? An explicit reason would have been great in the title to attract more people.
Also great they took small channels under 1k subs! My advice would be, pick your audiance biggest struggel and come up with a 10 minute solution, blown my channel up massively
Nice video Vidiq! I'd love to suggest a new format for gaming content guide in which you guys take a look at some of the top tier gaming channels and go through some of their videos and explain to us what they were doing right ...and how we could implement those strategies in our own content. I would love to see you guys review channels like 8-Bitryan,Ericvanwilderman, Dashiegames, jacksepticeye, markiplier, coryxkenshin etc..
Hi vidiq! You guys should really set animation channels as a separate category in the form. then review them, bc i noticed that animation on the sidelines and are featured few times. i have participated in 20+ forms and i haven't got featured once.
You could say that for almost every single niche. Travel, cooking, fishing. The reason they separate gaming is when they first started out, they only had the one form. And 80% from random draws were gaming. Which is why they had to separate the categories so that other channels got a chance of a review. There are more gaming channels on UA-cam than any other niche.
This is super interesting to watch, I mainly make tutorial/informational videos about the game Sea of Thieves. Should I go for more clicky titles or more straight to the point titles? I'm worried that if I go for more clicky titles my videos would become less searchable perhaps and I feel like that'd be the opposite of what I think would be good for this kind of content. I'm looking for some advice!
I'm not an expert, so take this with a grain of salt. From my understanding youtube doesn't care if someone skips to a section, it relies on metrics like total watch time. If your video has a higher average watch time that will contribute to youtube pushing it to more viewers. Overall I think a person is better off to try and cut out sections that might not be needed, as there might be some people that lose interest and click off regardless of chapters. Or at least this is just my impression from watching a lot of VidIQ and other youtube strategy videos.
I currently have 50 subs and im not doing well, my editing takes time and my video is one point with the thumbnail, so i dont do that title mistake.. it doesn't feel good when no one respects ur work. This video helped with some mistakes i may've done tho, so thanks

Great video VidIQ. My 8y old son would love to be on UA-cam, posting videos about games, playing games etc. so I’m trying to help him out with the channel, editing videos and so on.
