  • Many have asked what happens after Walmart "bootcamp" or onboarding?
Do I sleep in a truck with a driver?
If I am female do I get a female Mentor?
    What about covid?
Shawn is now a member of management and can not bu used as a referral.

Been watching a ton of your videos recently. I am currently a store associate in Western NY and they have opened up a new round of the Associate to Driver program. Last time they opened it up your store had to be within 50 miles of the Transportation office you would be trained at. They have now upped that distance to 250 miles of the TO. Just submitted my application and took the necessary assessments, so I am hoping to hear back at some point in the next few weeks. Training to get my CDL would start in early November with graduation in January.

      Tractor: Front: lights, windshield…
      Sides:mirrors, steps, door frame, window
Underneath hood - components, safety(leaks, wires, loose/broken nuts, warped metal), linkage
Back - fifth wheel, exhaust, cross beams…
Back of cab: exhaust, connectors, leaks, wires…
      Below vehicle - leaks
      Fifth Wheel area, cross beams
Tires: nuts, pressure, integrity of tire,….
      Trailer: Underneath, brakes landing gear
      Sides
      Doors
      lights
      reflectors
You failed again. Streamline the process, flow from one area to the next, streamline the process better.
6 years later, you've been doing this 6 years everyday before you head out, get gas, feel the need, go on break,
      retire for the day.

I put in an application for Sutherland, VA on Feb 1 2023 morning, later that day I had a woman text me, and the next day I setup a appointment for an online interview 9 days later. Seems like a long time for a interview, but I guess they are busy. We will see what happens, its a 50/50 chance wont break my heart lol. I got 9-10 years experience mostly local, only about 10 months OTR in the total 10 years. Clean driving record, no accidents, no speeding tickets. Cool video, well see what happens in the future.

LOL, heres a follow up story on my application a complete joke after waiting nearly 10 days for the first phone call for an over the phone interview, they said we have shut down hiring we have filled out quota for hiring the first quarter. That's won't what they told me week and a half ago they said they were hiring for my area. Don't be surprised if it happens to some of y'all. They tell people they are hiring and then shut everything down once they meet their quota they didn't even interview me i waited a week and a half for the interview phone call, never made it to the phone call only a text saying all positions have been filled. That's the true reality. BIG CORPORATE.

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  2 роки тому +1

Im not sure what you mean by microphone?
Slip seating at walmart in Indiana is you get a truck on your start day, clear out on day 5 when you go home.
Decent run, is not really a thing. Doesn't matter if your day 1 or a year 5 driver. We all run the same locations. The only thing you get with senority is the possibility to pick a better schedule (weekends off) or a truck you don't slip seat each week. Even the schedule is not a big deal. I was here 2 weeks and got a 5-2 5-3 schedule. That means I work 5 off 2, work 5 off 3. So on a week I work 5/3 (equals 8 days) so my start day moves up 1 day. I get a whole month of weekends off about every 3 months. Some want a straight 5-2 so they have same days off each week. There is also 6/2, 6/3,5/5 and other schedules you can get.
Shawn had his own truck with a 5/2 schedule in less than 3 years. He went from a mentor to now he's a CDT as of last week.

When you are out of those Indians locations, do u ever have to do chains? I am from chicago and Indiana and I don’t think being in that part of the country you ever have to do chains but I also know Walmart doesn’t always have snow shovel trucks clear the back of the store. And if it’s full of snow and ice you will get stuck backing into dock. Do you guys ever have to put chains on before backing into dock?

We dont even carry chains in Indiana. I know out west they do. Walmart is huge on safety. If it snowing so bad or the store is not safe to back into. I told him if you don't need weekly home time, insurance a 401k match and all the other benefits Walmart offers and your chasing the money. Go owner op. But as an owner op its far more risky. If what I'm told is true, yes at times in the rockies you may have to chain. They pay $60 when you do it.
I am in Indiana and I am not required to chain. When weather is bad I can shut down my truck and take the $15 an hour weather pay till its clear again.

I drove for Walmart 22 years I was never a company person you can tell a real company person by the sucking noises Walmart had a large number of kiss asses what they dont seem to realize when they mess up Walmart will fire there ass as fast as anyone else .!! I watched so many of them come and go lol best thing I ever did was Retire over 42 years of driving truck if I had it to do over again I would have never sold my truck a went and drive for Walmart ,out of all the drivers I worked with 96 percent wound up in divorce and 98 percent of the drivers left Walmart they all got fed up with the lies .

    • @WalmartRich
      @WalmartRich  2 роки тому +2

Gladly everyone has different experiences. Things today are not like they use to be. I also tell some people Walmart isn't for everyone. You also could have left Walmart at any time. You stayed so it must not have been all bad. As for divorce rates, that's extremely common amongst drivers.
If you watch the video I did with my wife you would see she is extremely happy with our current situation.
As for Walmart firing people. As you said that happens as fast as anyone. If that happens, it would suck, but ill find another job. In the mean time I'll do my job the best I can and keep a position that I enjoy!

Not to be mean? Although you didn't ask a question, and did nothing but be passively aggressively mean, allow me to clarify.
I will tell you, we might look a little bigger on camera. Shawn wears a vest and is not near as big as it might seem. Most people think he's a cop when he walks through a store.
Myself, yes im bigger. I Dr apt in April for a gastric bypass. Which is why any referral I get helps me. I am using the money to pay for whats left after insurance, time off, etc.
Even though I am bigger it doesn't stop me from crawling under a trailer if needed,, twisting lugnuts, or any other aspects of my job. I took and passed all the DOT requirements INCLUDING the sleep apnea test. So rest assured we have no problem doing our job on a federal level.
