    I just finished and made it through onboarding today up in IL you definitely have to earn your position with Walmart it isn’t handed to you for sure 💯

    Yea it sucks the manuals are going away. We don't have very many left at our yard. Your absolutely right about the 5th wheel and sliding tandem locks these are the 2 most crucial areas they are extremely strict on and if you miss them it's a quick way to fail. Also when they have you backing into different spots during the test always get out and look if u hit the trailer that's another way to fail always do your 360

    Heading to red bluff tomorrow for on boarding for Dec 6. Local day cab out of Fontana. Going in with what I know and build from the knowledge of the instructors there. Really appreciate these videos.

      @@rmcmunoz2 I got covid day 4th went home, then I got my own truck never went back. But I wish I’d stay. It’s great company great ppl.
      As far as the orientation it’s all good and not hard they teach you prior how to do the test and you practice i thing 3 days then they test you. Also it was up to us to chose automatic or manual in Red bluff CA. i don’t k other terminal do the same ! Good luck

    I’ll be going onboarding in a couple days god willing I pass the pre trips I been driving 20 years 15 for one company but we really never did thorough pre trips other than visual damage tires mudflats the basic thanks for your videos very informative and helpful man hope to joining your fleet

      Im supposed to head to garland as well. How was onboarding and are u doing the local position or otr? If its local hiw many hours you get, what was the starting pay for 17yrs, i have the same. And what are grossing on avg?

    Hi i don’t know how i got to your chanel but i think is very interesting information that you share am in that situation of quitting my job i been working i a factory for 20 years and i am going to school truck driving am almost there still struggling to do my 90 exercises but almost down with my pre trip they still haven’t taken me to the road cause am to slow learning; but i won’t give up 2022 it will be a new year something i know i will enjoy cause i love driving thanks again for your videos.

      Nice. Congrats on the new career. You will love the freedom. If you can look for a FedEx ground job. Depending on the trucking school you go to you might be able to get in with 0 experience. Amazing pay for a first year driver. All FedEx ground is sub contractor that hire you. You might have to get creative on how to contact them. What state are you in?

      @Ismael Rivas you can talk on the phone unlimited if hands free. They relaxed the policy over a year ago. It used to be limited

    There's definitely some tight spots around the holidays with those containers and drivers parking in the receiving areas. It's annoying and sometimes you have to back out of the area. ..it can be a challenge sometimes. Take your time and do it correctly.

    going to onboarding in red bluff in 10 days, I'm just worried about the pre trip because like you said, we do it every day, but not out loud, and I have social anxiety and I hate doing stuff in front of people who are literally scoring me haha. Red bluff is gonna be my home DC because I live in Redding. Heard nothing but good things about this fleet, so im excited.

      After you pass onboarding, do they give you time off or just go straight to driving with a mentor? You're not required to give a 2 week notice but it's the right thing to do, you know.

      @pski2515 they would prefer you start right away. If you previous job isn't put in a hard place by you leaving then definitely just start asap. But it's kinda your call

      The first 6 months is an adjustment they it's mastering the craft of the new company. After 1 year your pay starts to take off and things are peachy lol

      Safety and clean driving record. They are not too picky about the type of experience

      You should work on getting you hazmat. No sense in waiting until you get hired on and need to learn all that information at the same time as a new job. But they do give you 120 days after hiring on to get it.

    Do they have refrigerators in Walmart's trucks? I just can't eat junk food and sandwiches 5 days a week.. need to bring decent food from home

      Yes on refrigerators and power inverters. I bring my own microwave and extension cord. I also have a water boiler, mini crock pot and more. Definitely agreed you shouldn't live off truck stop food. Hopefully Walmart will figure it out soon that microwaves aren't that expensive and should be standard in every truck. You park your car in the truck parking lot so it's easy to unload everything back and forth fast.

    Off Harvest??? Been there. Had to stop before backing all the way in, lower landing gear, then back the rest of the way.

      Um... it was off mono and something lol. Docks had plenty of room. Maybe the dock by the wall on grocery would be tight. Not sure. I did Gm. But I have had to do that in L.A. a few times. Luckily all easy straight backs

    I was thinking about making the switch, then I saw you had to ride with someone for 2 weeks.. I can't sleep in a moving vehicle.. Train/Car/Airplane etc.. So that's a massive change of mind for me.

      You stay in a hotel every night. There is no sleeping in the truck during that process

    I love this video. I go to onboarding in Searcy Arkansas February 28 2022. I will be working at the Sanger Texas DC. I applied January 30 2022 and Monday January 31 2022 I got a email to schedule a phone interview for Tuesday February 1 2022. I already gave my current employer my two week notice. If all fails I will be looking for another job.

    you have 30 min to do a verbal pti on both truck n trailer both sides... if you miss these 5 items you fail- seat belt, 5th wheel, tug test, tandem pins in locked potion and touch all lug nuts. the virbage is dif so listen to the way they say it and start from top down and do not bounce around.

    It will take you 2 years of solid otr driving and 8 seasons before you start to even know the work to be done.

But some terminal might not have too many automatic truck so I might be waiting until I get one, that’s when I start the job. I said ok I still wanna automatic btw I got covid while on the orientation and went home then I got my own truck, so I didn’t end up working for Walmart but it’s great company paid me for all my orientation and I think a week for my covid leave

      All year if you want. Just have to approve it with your manager. They just ask what dates or if it's all year

      They don't not drive it first. This is a skills test. You should already know ow to drive. Not sure what you mean by the right turn. This video is so old I forget sorry

    Question. Once you've successfully completed on boarding, will you still have to spend a week or two driving with a Mentor or will you start work on your own right away? Just a question, for someone who has been driving OTR for several years before coming over to Walmart.

      You still have 2 weeks with a mentor. They are not coaching you on driving, just showing you all the stuff related to working at Walmart specifically

    I currently have a class B CDL permit. I would like to drive for Walmart in the future and I hear they’re training new drivers as well. Where does the training take place?

      That training is only for supply chain associates that do not have a cdl. Currently I hear only in Texas and one other location, I believe east coast like Pennsylvania maybe. Otherwise you need 30 months tractor trailer experience. But if you keep an eye on the website it's always changing.

But it mentions supply chain associates several times I just wasn’t sure if the training academy was for anybody or for currently employed associates only

      The next Monday you go to the DC and spend a week in the office then the next week out on the road with a mentor

    What's trucks does walmart do pre trips on ?. Petebuilt, freightliner, Volvo ?.

      9 times out of 10 freightliner. You may see drum or disk breaks on tractor and trailers
