Gosh, I can't keep up to your uploads Sean! The plants inside the cafe are like potted gemstones. The Episcia cleoptra is like a rare ruby. The plants are otherwordly! Thanks a lot for spoiling us!
Sean you are such a great person!! Thank you for being you and please forward my congratulations to Alvin for “Alvin’s Revenge “! Absolutely stunning work!!
Huge applaud for your efforts to bring us videos from different parts of the world. This was an outstanding collection and display of plants. Really loved it.
Such a stunning shop. Loved the Platyceriums and Tillandsias. Just a correction on the one orchid it is Bulbophylum phaleonopsis not Phaleonopsis bulbophylum. The genus is Bulbophylum and the epithet is phaleonopsis 😊.
are you in Taiwan right now?? That’s so awesome! One of my favorite things to do is to look at plants while on hikes. There are so many varieties of ferns, piper, epiprenmum pinnatum, schefflera, and endemic species!
Looking at myself speaking in English is soooooo awkward 🤣🤣🤣 *Begonia lukuana And sorry that I was going to say that unknown Begonia is Begonia filiformis
So beautiful and interesting. I enjoyed the many plants never seen here in NYC or even the US as a whole. I had no idea there were tropical Rhododendrons. There are many Rhododendrons native to the US but very different. i enjoyed the pallidarium and would like to see more. Thanks for another wonderful episode.
Since those tropical Rhododendron got their own name ‘Vireya’ that may make you unbeknownst of it. They were very popular during the UK Victoria Era among aristocrats in their glass greenhouse.
Sean, what brand of full spectrum led bulbs do they use in Taiwan Exotic Plant Cafe? Maybe, Alvin knows the brand, company and source? One of my new favorite videos of your’s Sean!
6:20 that fern _Pteris cretica_ has a Latin name that means “Cretan” or “from Crete”, which is a Greek Mediterranean Island. So even if it’s warm in the Mediterranean summers, it’s not exactly tropical. They’d probably grow well in Taiwan though.
There were accounts from pre Hispanic Philippines that mentions the use of some species of begonia as a souring agent for a dish called "sinigang" or pork in sour soup.
Hahahha the fried Begonia fenicis is a dish by the aborigine on Lanyu(an outlying island of Taiwan which both biological and cultural closely related to the Batanes of your country), however the Begonia acetosa mentioned in the video is from Brazil
Ive not heard of snake issues mentioned, but this is a very urban town I think snakes might find it challenging to live here. But in more rural areas I can imagine there might be
The cafe is located in the city downtown (just nearby the luxury house area of Taoyuan) without any vegetation around, the possibility of snake issue is very very slow right here
The boring backstory is I had made many hybrids combination of Begonia before and there are only few survived after my selection(yeah I abandoned most hybrids), and this is one of them
Now that he said it, it makes lots of sense considering that maidenhairs love growing on moist rocks and limestone. I’ve one potted in peat + perlite though and it’s been doing very well for years so I guess these plants are flexible.
Thank you Sean for another great and informative video!!! Alvin is such a dedicated plant grower!!

Oh yeah I did taste a begonia in the next episode 😀

Wow! There are so many interesting plants. I love the wall of plants. Sorry to ask this but, are there any snake issue? Thanks for sharing!

I NEED TO KNOW THE BACKSTORY OF ALVINS REVENGE
Haha I accidentally filmed him trying to hybridize a begonia in an episode thats coming. That is an even more intense episode than this.
The boring backstory is I had made many hybrids combination of Begonia before and there are only few survived after my selection(yeah I abandoned most hybrids), and this is one of them
和牛 - Wagyu
The Caladium’s leaves look like marbled beef.
Oooh that makes sense haha.
man the episcia grown is unreal , come on whats the secret , lol
Haha apparently its easy! They just need a lot of time (3-5 years I believe) to get that size.
Meanwhile my maiden hair fern is turning crispy indoors :(
🥲🥲 try again with the tips provided here 😀😀 also they like good airflow
Какой сексуальный паренёк 😍
Haha thank you
WHAT? what he said about his fern is shocking, maybe thats why everyone has been killing their plants lol
Now that he said it, it makes lots of sense considering that maidenhairs love growing on moist rocks and limestone. I’ve one potted in peat + perlite though and it’s been doing very well for years so I guess these plants are flexible.
Yeahh they are adaptible to different conditions. 😀
