I am only familiar with Platycerium bifurcatum. I am so happy to see all these beautiful cultivars and looking forward to the next video on culture of these amazing plants. I am especially interested in the different mounting methods shown in the video and propagation. Thanks again, Sean for a great video. You open up a whole new world of plants for me!
I've got my very first staghorn fern. No idea of exact species, but he's been in my care for 6 months. Things are going good. I share my love of plants to wonderful people.
Sean, if you wanna go to the Philippines, there is a museum in Antipolo that has an arboretum with all native species. You can look up Pinto Art Museum arboretum hehe.
I have a feeling these rare platyceriums will be available in more markets after many years of propagation. They have only been discovered/created recently. Give it time 😀 I for one cant wait until they become more affordable.
Here I am with a follow up question lol. I also would like your advice on newborn pups. I have two elephant stags and they definitely have the small new growth sprouting (which tells me that it is the actual 'top' of the plant) but I do not have ANY basal fronds on these pups. They have multiple leaves of course, but no basal plate. Do they need to be a certain age to establish this? I wish you had an email to send pics to.
Nearly all the platyceriums here are from Indonesia, but I have not seen them in Indonesia. I will try to visit Indonesian collectors soon to see what they are growing here 😀
Thanks for sharing the tips for those precious platy. Those dwarf ones becomes trend at my country even our climate is quite humid for silvery platy. By added more red light, I will give a try to push my veitchii growth :D
Hello my friend:) It has been a while since my last question. I have a bifucadum as well as two elephant pups. My question is how and where can I expect a new base frond, nice and green, to start growing after the existing one is all brown> I ask because I want to mount them but m a bit scared to interrupt its growth. Should I wait until a new layer of base is established?
It will come out from the center of the frond, the same place where the fertile fronds sprout.. I would not change the environment for now, give it good care and wait for the new frond to emerge.
@@onlyplants how i wish i can visit ah jie and see his unicorn!! Haha, sean youbshould collect platycerium now. I quitted aroid and jist keep platycerium cos its easier to take care and the frond wity fingers are soooooo cute
Sad Taiwan do not have native Platycerium, all come from Southeast Asia, Papua, Australia, Madagascar Central Africa and South America. and also Arowana fish most of them the best in Malaysia(Peninsular) and Indonesia(Borneo West Kalimantan) but Taiwan have many beautiful fern plant unique to Taiwan.
Its far from the most expensive plant in the world. 😀 the Monstera devil this year sold for $30,000 usd each. And even that is not the most expensive plant either hehe. The market is fascinating 🫣
Congratulations to the owners of this incredible beautiful collection of platyceriums.. thanks Sean for this new experience
Yaye ❤️

Hi Sean. Do you remember how degree of temperature and humidity in that room?
I dont remember but my best guess… 24 degrees celcius and maybe 70% humidity when we are there (but maybe higher if the door is shut)
Sean, if you wanna go to the Philippines, there is a museum in Antipolo that has an arboretum with all native species. You can look up Pinto Art Museum arboretum hehe.

I love Platycerium. I wish we could get a bigger choice in the UK.
I have a feeling these rare platyceriums will be available in more markets after many years of propagation. They have only been discovered/created recently. Give it time 😀 I for one cant wait until they become more affordable.
I hope they become more common in the US! I've noticed that there isn't much variation
Most rare plants become common and affordable, they need sometime to trickle down into the market though

Iya dia pertumbuhannya sesuai kondisi hidup nya

How is platycerium being priced and how rare is being identified?
Loved to watch, very interesting and do you have a video on Indonesia platycerium.
Nearly all the platyceriums here are from Indonesia, but I have not seen them in Indonesia. I will try to visit Indonesian collectors soon to see what they are growing here 😀

@@onlyplants Thank you so much for the speedy reply! I really appreciate that:) I will do as you suggest.
Hi Sean, just to double check, should it be Golden boy spore? Instead of sport?
Oooo I think they meant spore 😅

I’ve been so excited to see this and Sean, you did not disappoint! Loved it and can’t wait for the next video.
Yaye. We deep dive into care and propagation next! How fun
Love from Assam India bro 💓😎
❤️❤️
Why the plastic wrap on the mound? I've never seen that before.
The air can dry out the moss too quickly 😀
@@onlyplants ah got it! Thank you for your response and the videos. What a treat!!!
I could never have these because the saran wrap would irritate me too much, lol 🤣

Oh yes, Taiwan actually have some interesting native flora.
喊這麼貴,在台灣不知否有這個市埸???
现在价钱稳定下来了🤤
在花市,蝦皮2吋盆幾佰元而已包括網紅品種。🤣🤣🤣
I just got a Bacteria and Jade Girl in the US. $500 each 😩 totally worth it though.
Whoaaaa glad to see they made it to the states! 😀
So can we call platycerium is the most expensive plant in the world?
Its far from the most expensive plant in the world. 😀 the Monstera devil this year sold for $30,000 usd each. And even that is not the most expensive plant either hehe. The market is fascinating 🫣
@@onlyplants but in this video that jenny is USD 190.000 ,it's expensive enough😁

Berpa suhu di sana??
Bisa 10 kalo winter, 28 kalo summer 😀
I wish I had 200K to piss away on a plant, fucking ridiculous. I wonder how many starving kids that could have fed.
Omg these dont look real
