Software glitches was there when I was taken test ride. After pressing mode change button I was literally required lean back and wait for the mode to get changed in the dashboard.
As a 450X owner, I have mostly good things to say about my scooter and the company in general. The scooter isn't and all rounder, so my in-laws think I over spent, but I and my wife love it. I have a ball everytime I take it for a ride and I've been pushing off the purchase of a motorcycle for myself because this does such a good job of making the ride exciting.
@@cbazxy2697 if that's a question you're asking, I think you need better and more important things to put your mind into. And yes I paid for my scooter and subscriptions. Gen 2 with everything I value in my scooter experience.
The approach you guys have taken here for reviewing twowheelers is just amazing. Two guys sitting and talking about every minute detail is way better than all those "unboxing" type videos available on all over internet.
Thank you @Ssyoutube115. Just to be absolutely clear though, this isn't a review. Shumi's just discussing his first ride impressions of the Rizta with Kartikeya. 😊
@@motorinc Sir, one doubt. As Shumi mentioned, In smart Eco mode while going uphill speed decreases till 18km/hr. Does this "automatic speed decrease till 18km/hr" also happen while going uphill in Zip Mode as well, in Rizta?
I was an early Ather adopter . Ather is a research oriented company with strong engineering acumen. They are a world class company with the right mixture of European and Japanese ethos. Hope they continue to deliver us well engineered products 👍🏻
You get helmets that cost 4.5k that are ece 22.05 rated. That plus a Blu Armour or a cheaper Sena Intercom will cost around 15k total. I would pick that combo anyday over the halo helmets
@@ashwanisingh3234 yes i have thea apex street oragimi its a great hemet gets d ring and pin lock wiser ist is dot and isi certified but it dosenot have ece 22.05 rating.
Thank god there are some sane voices left to call out Ola and their gigantic chain of BS. That company is misleading its customers and putting them in danger with those terrible scooters. I really hope people wake up and smell the bullshit happening and get out of this chain as quickly as they can.
What are the issues with the Ola? I have the OG 450 for the last 5 years and just bought a S1 pro a few months back. There are some quality issues with the Ola for sure, but for riding it, I find it far better than the Ather. It’s quieter, smoother and faster accelerating. However, I don’t feel as confident in the chassis, Ather just rules in that segment. Of course I don’t expect it to last as well as the Ather. I still can’t believe how solid my 450 feels after 5 years.
Ola has some quality issues but for city commute & taking into account its near one lakh on road price (I bought at 1.05L on road- Basic S1 1st gen) this is excellent value for money product. Drive cautiously at max 60-65kph normal acceleration, & after 30-40k kms this will be return on all invested money within 5 years. This is a good bargain for all potential EV buyers. The newer S1 X models are questionable though. But S1 air and pro are still good value.
i have been owner of 450X since 1.5 years and have clocked 2800km since last year . its one of the best piece of texhnology i own for sure . Ride quality is quiet reliable . When i gave it to my friends to drive their mind blows away . Few of my friends told me they will consider it once they rode the bike. I think that tells quality and work they have put out . Belt noise is issue for me but glad they have fixed it with new scooters. Hopefully some solution for older scooters. Rizta has filled the gap so now my parents can use it in thier hometown . In future will consider it in my hometown as a primary scooter for sure .
‘Helmets are inconvenient’ is a logic I don’t understand. It’s a device designed to protect your head and neck - extremely vital parts of our body - which you can simply put on and strap in. How much more convenient does it have to be? Until such time when iron man’s nanotechnology becomes a reality where you just think and the helmet appears around your head, that is all the convenience we really need.
Assuming that you'll appreciate an actual answer to your question "how helmets are inconvenient" and it wasn't a rhetorical question, let me attempt: They are not inconvenient to put on. They are inconvenient to keep on. Most of our country is terribly hot and humid and your head needs to remain cool for your senses to work. If your head is itching with sweat and not cooling down enough, the possibility of getting into accident increases. Not only that, it does impact your peripheral vision and situational awareness (don't fucking lie it doesn't. Just don't.) Combine this with the fact that many two wheelers in India don't see 50 kmph mark for most of their service life because they solely run in congested cities and not of highways or freeways, it's a really terrible approach to make helmets a legal requirement. I mean we allow people to jump of a cliff tied to a rubber cable, and not to ride through vegetable market at 15kmph without a helmet??? It's really unfair.
@@abhisheksoni2980 sure I mean you do you and to each his own and all that. Just sharing a personal anecdote - last month I was riding in slow speed on an internal road. The road is in great shape btw, no potholes or bumps. There was a Nexon to my right behind me, and we were both occupying our individual lanes. Nexon also wasn’t speeding. A parked car 30m in front of me, decided to suddenly leave without signaling or any indication. I braked hard so that I don’t hit the car, my rear wheel locked, and I fell to my right sideways on the road. My hands and head hit the road first, and my leg was under my motorcycle engine. Now, I had a helmet and gloves on, and my bike has large engine guards, which means no part of my body was severely injured except minor scrapes on my right knee. The Nexon also braked hard and stopped right behind my where my head was. So I picked my bike, apologized to the Nexon for no fault of my own, and went on my way again. That’s the reason I wear safety gear. Don’t know about others.
@abhisheksoni2980: Your comment is not an explanation, it's a very well-written rant. Except for the bit in the parantheses at the end of the last para (which suggests that you aren't really listening). The peripheral vision and sit.awareness impact of helmets has been studied and documented - please do look it up. As to your second point, we're the largest two-wheeler market on earth with largest accident and fatality rates. When the rubber-cable-jumpers reach similar proportions, you'll see helmet laws arrive there too. That's not fair, that's how people who won't take care of themselves have to be protected. For their families, for their colleagues and for the economy.
I first saw the Ather 450 parked outside the electrical engg department while walking around the campus at IITM back in 2017, and I recall saying to my friend "hey! that's a good looking scooter!" So good to see them come such a long way making great stuff!
I have brought 450x hr without pro pack for 159000rs onroad on march . After three months I have asked service manager to upgrade to pro pack . He told pro pack cost 40000rs . In the name of pro pack they are looting customers so big 🙏 to Ather
@@girishlgirish384 i asked tha same before purchasing the bike.. they said the same so i took along with the bike so it costs me 179000 just a month ago
I second this! Mainly pointers on what to look for in each category of riding gear (gloves, helmets, jackets, boots etc.) when setting out to purchase for the first time. The importance of materials, sliders, armour etc. ought to be covered as well. Lots of confusion for a first time buyer. Also, Indian brands vs imported ones. Are the level 2 protection in an Indian brand superior to the usually level 1 protection (upgradable) by default in an imported brand? Does a helmet with a Sunvisor compromise on the structural integrity of the shell as Arai believe? How do they get comparable safety certification then? Quite an exhaustive topic when you get into it, and ought to make for a very interesting webisode!
I took a test ride of the Rizta today 29/6/24 . They had around 10 scooters there. I fiddled around a few scooters just to check the screen lag what you guys were talking about here. Surprisingly it was all smooth, the response was exactly what’s it like on the 450. Seems like they have sorted out the glitch if there was any.
Thanks for the video. Best part was the discussion on Halo. No other person might have talked about it in such a blunt way. Thank you Shumi sir for being a person so inclined to VALUES. That's a rarity these days. Please continue doing the same.
I tried Ather Rizta, the screen was working fine and had no issues. after watching this video and a test ride, I have booked the Rizta for family. Hope it will be a good decision.
I love your podcasts it’s on my A list. I listen it on my way to office and back. Your conversation brings so much info to the table it’s amazing. I don’t like Ev’s and I would skip it but I know if I don’t listen to it I’ll lose on the things like the helmet story 32:17 , the ABS things 27:21 and all the things apart from Ather. Love it guy’s ! ! !
Damn! Had to re-watch this a couple of times. You guys covered so much content, it felt like I was watching a tv series. Agree that maybe Ather rushed it with this launch and Halo will leave a gaping hole in our heads. Great content again guys. Keep it going!
Planning to buy one, so did a test ride & it's a treat to ride with hill hold, traction control & magic regen.. And the UI is responsive now, no lag whatsoever. The switches feels like prone to breakdown. I think i would use it in zap only as smart eco is too dull to enjoy the experience.
I believe Ather has got investors which are influencing the marketing and sales decisions. Worrisome is that, from this review, it is also starting to influence engineering decisions too. Knowing Ather, they may not have rushed, and perhaps gone with a new chassis. None of that seems to be the case. 'Rizta need to bring Ather name to lot more people' - that is a slippery slope with a semi-ready product.
29:00 Its the battery basics. When the battery is at lowest or highest state of charge, it cannot accept more power. If you observe a battery charging, it starts with very low charging speed at 0 and slowly increase to max speed and then significantly drops the charging rate at like 90-95%.
For someone who's buying the rizta I think it's a hell of a good scooter and I think most of the decisions that rather has gone forward with justifies the scooter. I'm looking for a family scooter and this is advertised as one, if I wanted something lively I know where to look, if I wanted something even more lively I'd go buy a bike. When I'm looking for a family scooter I'm looking for reliability and convenience over everything else. The decision to go with the 450 motor and interiors (most of it) is I think really smart, considering it's a tried and tested hardware, with a new system, I feel it would have it's own highlights and challenges. I don't want to deal with them, let ather handle those with the "lively" ones. If it just starts, works and goes, hen it's all good for me, I don't want to be thinking about that at the back of my mind. For me, touchscreen as a feature if like taking a step back if it's exposed. In a car? Maybe. Outside, weathering through everything, I like a bit of precise control, heck the base variant screen and the top model battery would have been a sweet spot for me. I don't have any opinion on the design, it seems okay to me. Not bad, not something to wite home about. It sits right in the middle. Doesn't steal the attention, but thats not what it's striving for. I'm happy that they addressed the belt issue. The battery flap is okay with me because as Shumi said, convenience is welcomed, but I know anyway that with regular ICE I would have had to use both hands so it's fine. There's ample space. The seat is nice from all the reviews I've read, the suspension isn't just basic. The colors offered are interesting. The software I think could use a lot of fine tuning especially with the smart eco, because it doesnt seem to be smart if all it does is prioritise mileage. I think the points that he picked from the chetak were really important and I would rather call that a "smart" eco mode. The zip does its work really well, no complaints. The other things that seems a mild bit inconvenience to me was the 90 degree valve having a rubber base, I say mild because it's a once in a while thing to fill my tyres, and the large seat having just one point of contact. I think there should be some after market spine that holds it better. The points that people pick that your hand will crash through the back rest is a nit pick, I don't know anyone that closes their seat on that point of suface, everyone I know close it from the side of the vehicle. I think the scooter shouldn't be compared with other EVS, rather we it's a feather in the hat of EV vehicles against ICE family scooters. I'm with Shumi on his stand on the helmets. I DO NOT THINK ANYONE WHO CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES EVEN A LITTLE BIT SHOULD TOUCH IT WITH A 10-FOOT POLE.Do NOT ABSOLUTELY BUY IT BECAUSE IF YOU THROW YOUR MONEY AT THAT, THEN YOU LET OTHER'S KNOW WHERE YOUR PRIORITY LIES AND OPENS A CAN FULL OF WORMS THAT WILL BE TOO DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH. That is the most stupidest thing that ather has done and after writing about all that and how I think they did a smart thing with the decisions to build the scooter I find it hard to believe they just threw a spanner and released that thing. With a helmet, that things that ather prioritised are absolutely the last things that you should have to consider better yet not consider at all. Why would you work your ass off to build a scooter like that and then announce that monstrosity with the same thing? Shumi was absolutely right to not even speak about it, because bad puclicity is still publicity. To know the power that your word holds and still chosoe that way even thpugh you know that it might piss some people off is the most wise thing someone could do. I'm really excited to try the ather rizta but the direction with the helmets really puts me in a tough spot. They really need to question this decision and realise where it might take them.
I want to consider this scooter but cannot get hang of its 15k subscription thing to use more feature. It’s like renting out fuel tank of ICE scooter separately.
Took test ride on Wednesday, still has lot of electronic glitches with S/W. Modes switching was glitchy, screen took forever to show if mode change was registered, one time the screen & S/W just passed out when I put on right indicator.
You forgot to discuss the prominent irritating whining noise of the motor. Ather should have reduced it somehow. Also, the navigation does not work if you deviate even slightly from the programmed route. Otherwise, it is great to drive. Finally, don't buy this without the propack as key features like Magic Twist, range display, navigation, skid control etc. cannot be used without it.
Was expecting you guys to talk about the pricing a little more, especially the Pro packs. Ather should have offered Pro pack (or at least the battery protect plan) upon pre-booking. Ola does price cuts to attract customers (though the quality isn't good), but Ather should also do similar by offering some extras (not the price cuts).
Yes, the ProPacks remain contentious for sure. And we did test a 450S without propack a few months ago... and we really, really liked it! If the ProPack thing bugs you, just get a Rizta if you like, without the Propack.
Thanks for your response. 🙂 Please talk to Ather on my behalf regarding the expectations shared. 😉 3 years / 30k Km Battery warranty is too less now, compared to the competition. I did pre-book Rizta. Ather is offering too less for customers who pre-booked it. Hope they understand this before the actual sales start.
My father had the default scooter of the 90s. Bajaj Chetak. I rode it during my school days. I was never an extraordinary rider. But have always been a thorough auto enthusiast. I've never had a 2 wheeler of my own. My parents too were the typical over-cautious type. And when I started earning, I bought a car. So no bike even then! Now, as a father of 2 pre-teen boys, I am thinking of buying a scooter with 2 simple objectives. To drop the kids to hobby classes/coaching. (We live in an area where evenings are jam-packed). And to do routine errands. May be a few trips to office, on good weather days. And of course, in due course it'll be used by the kids. And there's one ulterior motive as well...to gauge my riding skill/temperament to decide if I should really go for a bike. (I've been dreaming of buying a bike since forever. Currently I am lusting over the Triumph Scrambler 400X and the Himalayan 450!) Here're the parameters. 1. This will be my 1st self-owned 2-wheeler, ever! 2. 2000 to 5000 kms per year, I guess, depending on how much I end up enjoying it. 3. Charging may not be much hassle, as we live on the 1st floor. 4. Riders - me, wife and eventually the boys. 5. Budget - no idea. Under a lakh, I suppose. Not sure how we'll end up using it, so don't want to dump much money on this experiment. Let's say, a TCO of ~1.5L over 5-7 yrs. Here're my queries- 1. ICE vs Electric 2. If ICE, which one? Not Activa, for sure!! Jupiter? Access 125? Xoom? Ntorq? 3. If electric, how abt Rizta? Note - I live on the outskirts of Chandigarh. I am a big fan of your channel and hence I believe I'll really value your opinion! Thanks... ✌️✌️
1. ICE 2. Access 125 3. We haven't tested it fully yet, but the Rizta is very promising for sure Can't wait to welcome you to the world of two-wheelers Arpit!
Bro you should consider Yamaha scooters too. Yamaha Fascino is a hybrid scooter. Great styling, pickup and mileage too. I have used it in Goa on vacation.
I am planning to buy the rizta this week. I am thinking of getting the Rizta S wth the pro pack. The only thing thats confusing me is if the Skid Control and Magic Twist are worth the upgrade. Does either of those features justify the price ? Considering the budget is a little tight now and daily travel is just 20km.
43:08 to be honest I prefer 2 wheelers who throw light in the direction the steering is facing. So the belly light isn't odd but unlike iqube the blank part in the centre bulge of the steering really does seem like it was made to have a headlight there. An odd space left honestly. I'm not sure but will an aftermarket solution be available for this after sometime? And obviously not those white bright notorious light 😅
In all honestly, we've tested two-wheelers with fixed and moving headlights for absolutely years now and the difference is not that great except in very specific instances. The problem is worse with bulbs because their heat makes sure that low and high beams cannot be used together whereas LEDs can. So unless the manufacturer really messes up the low beam's spread, this is a very small issue
I bought the Ather Rizta Z 2.9kwh with pro pack in Nov. I've seen some of them has Handle jamming issues, but the ather SC is open to fix them not sure, if due to fall, or they just jam like that, my test vehicle was jammed, but not my own vehicle. Some people says, the belt gets loose and probably makes some sound. I asked Ather, the local SC charges 200 to tighten it and clean it. probably depends on how agressively you ride it, but learn to do that on your own, if you could. There's a vibration sound, on the plastic at front, but it's not annoying and could be done local jugaad. ------------------- Other than that as Shumi's saying, the suspension is better, but they need to work on handling vibrations in the front. I can say Activa 4g (my old one) has almost no vibration, but on jagged surfaces, like those european tiled roads, the rizta handle returns the full vibration, which is sometimes uncomfortable. Apart from that I don't see any major issue yet.
Ather does it's advertising in English and btw no massy campaigns. Also, distribution is bad in North India. We need a hamara Bajaj, desh ki dhadkan kind of campaign in hindi for it to work in North India.41:45
Last Saturday, Ather had a Rizta launch event and an Ather owners meetup in Ahmedabad. I got to check out the software of the Rizta, and it seems that Ather has completely refined their software from what Shumi experienced from while test riding. I did not face any issues or glitches while operating the dashboard screen. Another thing I noticed is that the build quality and fit and finish of Ather Rizta is far superior to the Ola S1 Pro, which my friend has. However, the plastics feel a little bit cheap compared to my 450X.
We'll have to test it to comfirm, Nivas. The terrain was up and down for the Rizta ride so Zip felt quick enough, but quicker than the Access is harder to answer definitely
@ not really, I live in Bangalore so I have not felt very unsafe in streets so far. I think the WhatsApp integration is reasonably useful though. My mum is often anxious I’m not home yet and wants a response right then. I honestly have had times where I stopped on the side of a highway to pick up her call. Now I can just see what she’s typing and send her the tracking without having to stop dangerously.
Just saw chetak's first impressions and as Shumi Sir predicted Bajaj did launch a cheaper model . The May month had all the top ev manufacturers launch mass market models.. I just wanted to suggest doing atleast a view on chetak's new base model. My father isplanning to buy a scooter so just wanted to know. Also should i just stick to ICE scooters ( daily running -15km)
If you are ok with a slightly heavy scooter, top speed of 63, drum brakes at both ends, and 6 hours charging time then go ahead with Chetak 2901 (base model). It's one of the best scooters for senior citizens and ladies if you don't mind the above points.
I had a test ride, but as the showroom didn't have number plates I had to ride it in a gully with a lot of road construction (so not sure if bad handling was due to that). The UI I feel was very horrible because I couldn't change the mode easily or even activate the slip assist or even change the ride modes (2-5 min lag in mode change). I felt that it was not good enough for crowded streets. But I will give it another go soon
Been following your channel for some time now, very glad I came across the both of you. Don’t think many vehicle reviewers come close to this level of quality in content. Good job, gents!
On the Google Podcasts thing... they're moving over their library into YT Music now. So essentially, you can go over to YT Music even today and listen (or even watch, since YT Music has that clever Audio/Video toggle) to MotorInc First episodes. And since it's UA-cam, it stays in sync with however much you've watched on UA-cam as a video, and you can resume from the same point in audio-only from YT Music (and vice versa).
I hail from a small hill-station named Panchgani which is near Mahabaleshwar. When scooters came into the Indian market, Panchgani first saw a wave of Kinetics, later very few Scooty Pep(s). And suddenly, despite there being the Honda Activa and Dio, 3 of 5 scooters was the 1st gen Access 125. I understand it was purely due to the perfect power output and mileage the Access brought with it. And now when electric scooters are taking on, TVS' IQube is the blind go to choice, then the Chetak and last the Ather. Yes, our family owned the 1st gen Access, which we exchanged with Suzuki's dealership for the 2nd Gen Access with Disc Brakes and also got the Aprilia which was not with us for long thanks to the heavy maintenance and poor reliability. And recently we have the I Qube as our 2nd scooter and its been a smooth sailing journey. In all we have 4 scooters in a family of 6 and 3 cars. Access is still the workhorse. 3 access of the above 4.
Oh wow! That's quite a reputation and trust the Access has earned from the family there @thefastelephant94! Thanks for sharing. Looking at your past comments, how many REs do you guys have in the family? 😅
@@motorinc I kid you not, visit the hill stations and you'll see more of Suzuki's Access than any other scooter. The only ICE scooter that does the 13km Wai - Panchgani ghat with pillion and mild luggage without making the rider feel like they need to work the tiny powerhouse. Almost all the 2nd gen Access owners are either younger buyers buying their 1st scooter in the hills or 1st Gen owners just upgrading their scooters.
Great discussion as always. It would be great if the sound treble can be reduced a bit for the videos coming up. This might be subjective but I felt it's a little off in this video.
I took test ride today. Had tested two vehicles. Pangong Blue and white color had the same display lag issue. The other one, cardamon and white color was normal with display responding properly
@@motorinc For me its a cool piece of tech that I can use for daily commutes. Acceleration and top speed is also okay considering me "being a family man now!" and cant go alone anywhere without my wife! In zip mode from signal to signal, accelerating too hard gets me a question why am I in so hurry. So, Smart Eco for me is the way to go. On the other side, my wife likes the Magic Twist too much. However, she got a complaint that the handle bar is too far from seat, "she got small hands you know!" and coming from activa, this was something I had foreseen. Also, for some reason she says opening boot is a hassle because of pressing and rotating clockwise, then again anticlockwise without pressing for opening boot is too much for her, as our 2007 activa had separate key slot for opening boot. So, as Shumi said, family scooter cant be too good, is soo true! Other than that, it is having good enough space with frunk and boot to carry weekly groceries, makes this purchase justifiable to her.
Ather is a great company with superb products!! I will run to buy their shares if they were to come out with an IPO....thanks motorinc for a super review!
What do you guys think about Hero Vida. I bought one a month ago and it's fairly decent. The connectivity features and touch screen are basically useless. But, since I can charge the battery at my apartment, the experience is extremely convenient. The pick-up is good. I never had to worry about overtaking. The scooter itself is smooth and silent. The braking is good but regen not so much. So far, it's been a convenient Point A to B machine.
27:46 But isn't regen equivalent to engine braking on ICE? Or is it more severe here? ABS doesn't need to take into consideration the engine braking AFAIK. If there is loss of traction, release brakes.. that's how it works.
But the thing is engine braking is always there while you take your legs from accelerator (even if it's low in lower gears)and ABS has no function to cut down engine braking but the regen works different it works different right? Sometimes we won't apply brakes but we apply regen so if ABS is linked to disk brakes how it gonna work ?
@@cineenthusiast1234 I doubt someone can lock a wheel on just regen / engine braking unless the scooter is going down a muddy / dusty slope. For everything else, the brake is also being used, ABS can work.
I felt the same as Kartikya did about the 450 after riding it for 3 hours. It was fun but felt really tiny to me personally (5'11 85kgs). Rizta feels alot more like the kinda scooter i would go for 👌
I too feel they have rushed, the biggest showroom in indiranagar, b'luru still doesnt have test rides or display, deliveries are postponed to aug..!!. But some of north indian showrooms have started test rides. Also I felt rush on indie is aggressive than warp on 450x 😅 The battery cost for 2.9kwh ather is 74k as of today.
Being the Ather Rizta back half frame comes with tubular and also fitted in middle, if there is a two over weight person seat om the vehicle with two backpacks does it damage the CHASIS frame from its original position because it is offered only mono shock aslo that to fitted in middle and total back Chasis frame is without any other support.....please give a detailed answer towards it......
Hey Sai! This is how all two-wheelers are manufactured. The subframe does hang past the rear suspension mount and it's designed to do this. This is not a problem. The manual will also tell you what the maximum weight the frame can handle is, in fact.
shumi, today is 10th day owning this. love the machine in general. have some issues with it YES, magic twist great, really not consistent, i have noticed more inconsistency when charge 80+. One time entire screen froze so 5 mins it was literally non functioning PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY, had to reset(only happened once, so I am choosing to ignore as glitch, but under 1 week of ownership bad impression) My biggest/only concern ABS, on 3rd on diwali itself got in accident when my sister panicked and jammed the front brake at 40, not biggest of complaint but absolutely avoidable if it had ABS.
Congratulations @siddrajthakur3783! Thanks for sharing your experience. Do keep us posted on your long term experience as well as you ride more. And we agree, it should have had ABS.
@@motorinc yes, most people got the maximum range in the top mode (hyper or Wrap) since the performance bottle neck in the lower modes and we keeps on pushing it causes range drops
I really admire how you say so many good things about the Ather 450 series as well as the RIZTA. However, when it comes to helmets, your points are on the opposite side, which is really good to hear and know. I didn't know what DOT certified meant and thought it should be good enough. I got the helmet for free because I am one of the Ather Unlock winners. Now, it makes me think, should I be excited or not? But thank you for the honest feedback.
At about 31:00 minutes the talk about the WhatsApp on the screen or tvs doing scores on the screen, I see the usage being when people go to hang out with a group of friends in public to sit around on each other’s bikes and have conversation while seated on the side of the road
We have a separate First episode on the Apex @gururajsawant. Please check it out: ua-cam.com/video/C01KLCVxS48/v-deo.htmlsi=o6emmS9UhQM4W3Uj And if you already have, please let us know if you have any specific questions about the Apex and we'll get back to you.
Finally someone who knows and talks about helmets with the seriousness and intensity that this topic deserves. ESPECIALLY in India!!! Thank you Shumi 🙏👍
Going back to the comment I made on thepost that you guys had put up about the Rizta, there were no issues with the screen. The remaining were almost the same minor issues that Shumi spoke about.
The ambiguity of the battery pack pricing is not an ather only problem I think, Most electric 2w brands that I have dealt with seem to be super ambiguous on this and the answer sometimes seem to vary from dealer to dealer as well, which also makes the info that comes out of the dealer's mouth also void. From what I've come across, 15-18k per kwh of the pack is what you can expect to be shelling out as of today's prices. Things might change down the line but this is what it seems to be today
It’s about passing tests .. the ECE thresholds are higher .. the assumption would always be that if it is ECE certified it would in all cases pass DOT certification requirements (if any 😂)
Wonderful overview! Such a nice start to my Sunday morning! Question: How do you navigate through the UI of something like Google Maps with just a joystick? How to move around the map, zoom, type destination address, select alternative path if offered, etc? Joysticks on fixed/7-segment LCD may make sense, but on a fully interactive TFT? I'm curious. It'd be great to have joysticks as additional inputs (so you don't have to leave the handle) ALONG with the touch input. Also, no ABS is such a miss!
Did a test ride today in Srinagar. I feel like we were the first customers here. I have a query. Here around Srinagar, we have 30-40 degree gradients in places going up the foothills, will i be able to ride the medium spec rizta with 1 pilon rider and zip mode full throttle?
Hi @syedtalhasxr, for the inclines of J&K the best way to know is to test ride it for yourself. We suggest talking to the showroom guys about a longer test ride.

- The Rizta Z might be mislabelled as the Rizta X is a few places. Apologies!
- MotorInc Fam members who attended the Ather Rizta event in Ahmedabad report that the software update cleared up the glitches we've reported. However, others who went for test rides in other places also saw an earlier version of the software which remained slow. Inference: by the time Ather starts deliveries, you should see fast and stable software.

Nice, pure, original, not generic. 😘
Bro you did not talked about pro pack with extra cost 20k in rizta without that smart features in rizta
Software glitches was there when I was taken test ride. After pressing mode change button I was literally required lean back and wait for the mode to get changed in the dashboard.

I used to work for them, hearing so much praise from you lot makes me a little proud. Can't wait to see this on the view.

I just thought the exact same thing, so good! 🤌🏽
@@motorinc Sir, one doubt. As Shumi mentioned, In smart Eco mode while going uphill speed decreases till 18km/hr. Does this "automatic speed decrease till 18km/hr" also happen while going uphill in Zip Mode as well, in Rizta?
The way Shumi talks about helmet safety without his usual joking makes this conversation quite good. Nice video
Thank you for watching Tanmoy!
I was an early Ather adopter . Ather is a research oriented company with strong engineering acumen. They are a world class company with the right mixture of European and Japanese ethos.
Hope they continue to deliver us well engineered products 👍🏻

The Rizta variants do have different processors, storage and RAM:
S - Cortex series, 8gb RAM, 1gb storage
Z - Snapdragon 212, 16gb RAM, 2gb storage.
Thanks for letting us know @itzsatya1.
Thank god there are some sane voices left to call out Ola and their gigantic chain of BS. That company is misleading its customers and putting them in danger with those terrible scooters. I really hope people wake up and smell the bullshit happening and get out of this chain as quickly as they can.
We cannot get out!! Their resale value is absent.
@@JagannathMoorthyyou answered your own question, poor build quality, weak chassis, cheap materials, questionable design choices etc.
Also I get 90kph speed on highways if needed, and scooter is stable at that speed and 100kms range for 100% charge everytime for Basic S1 model.
i have been owner of 450X since 1.5 years and have clocked 2800km since last year . its one of the best piece of texhnology i own for sure .
Thank you for sharing @ChaitanyaAtre1096. Good to hear an owner's perspective.
💯
Assuming that you'll appreciate an actual answer to your question "how helmets are inconvenient" and it wasn't a rhetorical question, let me attempt:
They are not inconvenient to put on. Just don't.)
Combine this with the fact that many two wheelers in India don't see 50 kmph mark for most of their service life because they solely run in congested cities and not of highways or freeways, it's a really terrible approach to make helmets a legal requirement.
@VermiKello: Glad you're okay!
We definitely need a view story on the ather halo 😂

I have brought 450x hr without pro pack for 159000rs onroad on march . After three months I have asked service manager to upgrade to pro pack . He told pro pack cost 40000rs . In the name of pro pack they are looting customers so big 🙏 to Ather

You guys should definitely do a disconnect episode on riding gears. You can talk about the latest safety standards and so on.
Request noted!
+1
And essential track riding gear section would be nice too with some recommendations. If possible.🙆🙌🏽
Awesome! Thank you for letting us know, Kanishk!

Would you recommend the rizta s variant for city use of 15 km daily ? Would it be a good choice over activa considering the extra cost of rizta.
Yes, this should work. But the savings won't be huge, unless you a ride _a lot,_ or calculate the savings _over a long time._
Have to say, this is probably one of the best summaries from K, all love❤️
Thank you Parthib!
Damn! Had to re-watch this a couple of times. You guys covered so much content, it felt like I was watching a tv series.
Agree that maybe Ather rushed it with this launch and Halo will leave a gaping hole in our heads.
Great content again guys. Keep it going!
Thank you for joining us Saketh!
That cover-up of triple riding 😂😂 Gold!!!
🤣
I want to consider this scooter but cannot get hang of its 15k subscription thing to use more feature. It’s like renting out fuel tank of ICE scooter separately.
Just buy the base variant we need only one drive mode the best way to squeeze the maximum range is Wrap mode and constant acceleration
This is the type and level of conversation expect from my friends when I am talking about vehicles . Literally you guys are too fabulous
Thank you @shivamsoni3550.

Thank you for sharing @ImTheShrey. Where was this?
Ather space Satara, MH.
Please talk to Ather on my behalf regarding the expectations shared. 😉
3 years / 30k Km Battery warranty is too less now, compared to the competition.
I did pre-book Rizta. Ather is offering too less for customers who pre-booked it.
Hope they understand this before the actual sales start.

35:21 Gorda ura diya, bhaiya :D
Currently I am lusting over the Triumph Scrambler 400X and the Himalayan 450!)
Here're the parameters.
Here're my queries-
1. ICE vs Electric
Thanks...
✌️✌️
1. ICE
2. Access 125
3. We haven't tested it fully yet, but the Rizta is very promising for sure
Can't wait to welcome you to the world of two-wheelers Arpit!
Which one you bought?
Bro you should consider Yamaha scooters too. Yamaha Fascino is a hybrid scooter. Great styling, pickup and mileage too. I have used it in Goa on vacation.
I am planning to buy the rizta this week. I am thinking of getting the Rizta S wth the pro pack. The only thing thats confusing me is if the Skid Control and Magic Twist are worth the upgrade. Does either of those features justify the price ? Considering the budget is a little tight now and daily travel is just 20km.
Seriously i can have a clear picture of this rizta than those unbutors(unboxers+youtuber) so thankyou so much
43:08 to be honest I prefer 2 wheelers who throw light in the direction the steering is facing.
@@motorinc i see 🤔
I bought the Ather Rizta Z 2.9kwh with pro pack in Nov.
I've seen some of them has Handle jamming issues, but the ather SC is open to fix them
not sure, if due to fall, or they just jam like that, my test vehicle was jammed, but not my own vehicle.
-------------------
Other than that as Shumi's saying, the suspension is better, but they need to work on handling vibrations in the front.
I can say Activa 4g (my old one) has almost no vibration, but on jagged surfaces, like those european tiled roads, the rizta handle returns the full vibration, which is sometimes uncomfortable.
Apart from that I don't see any major issue yet.
Thanks for sharing your experience @PabitraPadhy! Does the service centre have any remedy for the vibration issue?

Last Saturday, Ather had a Rizta launch event and an Ather owners meetup in Ahmedabad.
I got to check out the software of the Rizta, and it seems that Ather has completely refined their software from what Shumi experienced from while test riding. I did not face any issues or glitches while operating the dashboard screen.
Another thing I noticed is that the build quality and fit and finish of Ather Rizta is far superior to the Ola S1 Pro, which my friend has. However, the plastics feel a little bit cheap compared to my 450X.

@ not really, I live in Bangalore so I have not felt very unsafe in streets so far. I think the WhatsApp integration is reasonably useful though. Superb discussion, no extras or no BGs for distraction. Keep up the good work..
Thanks for letting us know!
Been following your channel for some time now, very glad I came across the both of you. Don’t think many vehicle reviewers come close to this level of quality in content. Good job, gents!
Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🖖🏽
I love how Shumi Schumacher pointed out speed on the dash when the scooter was losing velocity while going uphill.🤭
♥️
Please have a ThisConnect episode covering Helmets and other riding gear.

Thanks for sharing Aviral!
37:04 pricing is ex showroom BLR? On road BLR?
ex-showroom @KaizerBillimoria.
@@motorincI have 3. GT535, Himi BS3, Meteor 350. My brothers have a Classic 350 and a TB500 (both BS3)
We'll pass the feedback on! Thanks Akshay!
@@motorincthanks team.
I took test ride today. Had tested two vehicles. Pangong Blue and white color had the same display lag issue. The other one, cardamon and white color was normal with display responding properly
Thanks for sharing Aniruddh! Aside from that, did you like how the Rizta rode?
Ather has already done IPO in 2022 and their shares are trading in stock market.
@@alexthampan9007 my bad chief...I meant FPO...which is apparently on cards...
Thank you for watching MKN! All well with you?
@alexthampan9007: The market says they're prepping for an IPO now, to close by end-2024
Everytime I forget to tell you guys how much I love your intro, I love it
Thank you @sathigoswami6830!
Rizta feels alot more like the kinda scooter i would go for 👌
Thanks for letting us know TTP!
How did it compare to the river indie?
I too feel they have rushed, the biggest showroom in indiranagar, b'luru still doesnt have test rides or display, deliveries are postponed to aug..!!. But some of north indian showrooms have started test rides.
Also I felt rush on indie is aggressive than warp on 450x 😅
The battery cost for 2.9kwh ather is 74k as of today.
Oh! Thanks for letting us know @bmnihaal! We just hope that when customer scooters arrive, they're completely niggles free.
Purchased rizzta today got it at 1.78lacks
Screen is working properly with no lag
Thanks for sharing @divinemusicstudi766!
Shumi's passion towards 2Ws is contagious 🤌
Let’s take a moment to truly appreciate the exceptional graphics, thoughtful branding, and top-notch production quality of the channel.
Thank you very much @srikarsuresh! We'll pass on your compliments to the entire team.
Sir...
Between Rizta S and chetak 2901 which would you choose??
How comfortable is it for a 6 feet person?
Is it easy for women to drive it ?
Shumi is 6ft tall @abilamar and he didn't have any issues riding the Rizta.
Shumi is 6ft tall @abilamar and he didn't have a problem riding the Rizta.
shumi, today is 10th day owning this. love the machine in general. have some issues with it YES, magic twist great, really not consistent, i have noticed more inconsistency when charge 80+. One time entire screen froze so 5 mins it was literally non functioning PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY, had to reset(only happened once, so I am choosing to ignore as glitch, but under 1 week of ownership bad impression)
My biggest/only concern ABS, on 3rd on diwali itself got in accident when my sister panicked and jammed the front brake at 40, not biggest of complaint but absolutely avoidable if it had ABS.
Congratulations @siddrajthakur3783! Thanks for sharing your experience. Do keep us posted on your long term experience as well as you ride more.
And we agree, it should have had ABS.
Please also include discussion regarding the headlights on scooters as well as their positioning.
Went to their showroom found it weird them saying the rizta has 56L of storage for the sake of it.
It is like saying the indie has 110L of storage.
Hi I saw a bill where 450x gen 3 battery pack costing 96000 ra + 1000 rs installation charges 😮 of course after warranty
You guys compliment each other so well! its a treat watching you! Amazing Review!
Glad you enjoy it Vinayak!
15:49 its not an issue right ? We can use the Zip mode
Yes you can. SmartEco might be too slow for hilly places/slopes
I think yamaha ray zr is big seat is it right?
In ice scooters
At about 31:00 minutes the talk about the WhatsApp on the screen or tvs doing scores on the screen, I see the usage being when people go to hang out with a group of friends in public to sit around on each other’s bikes and have conversation while seated on the side of the road
Too much work to pull the phone out of the pocket? 😊
34:08 we need more segments about safety equipments and quality standards.
Sharply placed and precise conversation ❤
Hey I'm looking to get the Ather 450 Apex edition what are your thoughts on that
We have a separate First episode on the Apex @gururajsawant. Please check it out: ua-cam.com/video/C01KLCVxS48/v-deo.htmlsi=o6emmS9UhQM4W3Uj
And if you already have, please let us know if you have any specific questions about the Apex and we'll get back to you.
Thanks Anirudh!
Ok so no more screen laggy or anything right? Works normally, updates maps in real time etc?
Would you recommend someone ather Rizta over ola s1 pro???
Please reply
We don't recommend Ola products at all Indra - too many customer service issues. The Ather Rizta is an easy recommend.
In bengaluru itself i have ridden some ofthe steepest slopes than any hills in karnataka. Let's say somewhere between 45 and 55 degrees incline.
Bajaj chetak 2.9 kw battery price is 80,000 Rs + 18 % GST. Which is huge if your running is low.
💯
Team, What about handling, is it as slick as a 450x?
so if a helmet is both D.O.T & E.C.E certified is it good ?
It’s about passing tests .. the ECE thresholds are higher .. the assumption would always be that if it is ECE certified it would in all cases pass DOT certification requirements (if any 😂)
I have a qstn i do use my helmet but my head starts sweating.. and it cause hair fall I don't know its true or not what do you use to stop it
Wonderful overview!
45:34 Umm guys... Lenght -41mm than 450?
Its longer than 450 right?
Feels longer and larger, but is actually not the case - those numbers are accurate, SC
Idk why but it's really satisfying to watch this video, well made!
Thank you @Purrringcat
What model is the most value for cash to battery ratio
Did a test ride today in Srinagar. I feel like we were the first customers here. I have a query. Here around Srinagar, we have 30-40 degree gradients in places going up the foothills, will i be able to ride the medium spec rizta with 1 pilon rider and zip mode full throttle?
Hi @syedtalhasxr, for the inclines of J&K the best way to know is to test ride it for yourself. We suggest talking to the showroom guys about a longer test ride.
