    I received a newer edition of these adapters made out of flat steel instead of the boxed ones. They fit great, and took care of a major issue I was worried about - they actually sit 3/4" lower than factory seats according to my tape measure. !!!!

    How do these perform on big drops/bumps/jumps?
    I'm looking at a set of minivan seats mostly because they fold and for a Jeep, not a Suzuki but the seats they will replace look like they have a much more plush seat cushion.
    I just don't want to get spinal compression if I accidentally go through some technical terrain.

    • @ryanschwitzer
      @ryanschwitzer 4 роки тому

      @@tonyball1017 2012. Yes, the did work. The passenger side rear inner rail frame bolt was a nightmare. I ended up going from the underside of the car and putting a nut on it. I have not been able to afix the seat belts clasps to the seats. The bolts on these chairs are a bit larger so I need to make the holes in in the clasps bigger so they will work.
      Also, the adapter came with hardware so no need to go to get bolts/nuts.

    What size would you say the rectangular tubing is? I have a set of the adapters on the way and am trying to figure out how much higher these will sit. I have temporarily made 1/8” thick adapters and there’s a noticeable height difference.

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  6 років тому

      Rich Miller, I'd say about 1/2" in height, but the seat is also higher I believe. Not interference with the roof of my tin top and it slides farther back.

    • @chevyscrounger
      @chevyscrounger 6 років тому

      ELK Motorsports yeah they're definitely higher even with my temporary mounts. So with myrons mounts my t&c seats would sit 3/8" higher than they do now. I can probably live with that ,but my head is going to be close to my sound bar. It's almost unbelievable how much better the seating position and comfort is than the stockers. My girlfriend even said she likes them better.

    I like that they fold down, that'd be handy for bigger stuff when I'm by myself. I did the swift GT seats though and they're great. The buckles are attached to the rails and they fit with the samurai belt. Got rid off the crappy old samurai buckles.
    The driver seat was crazy easy to put in. I just redrilled the holes and ground off the outside rear tab and welded a new tab in the same spot facing inward. The inside rear bolts to the trans tunnel. Had to redrill all the holes because they're spaced wider but it was so easy.
    The passenger side rails are symetrical so I had to build towers. About 2 hours of figuring and welding but there's so much room under the passenger.
    The new rails fit so tightly to the trans-tunnel that it stops everything but liquids from falling in there.
    The hardest part of them is that tack welding a bolt to the inside the trans tunnel from under the truck is awkward as fuck.

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  6 років тому

      James Elliott, oh yeah, especially with the trans in place. But it does feel good to do this stuff yourself.

    • @jameselliott8541
      @jameselliott8541 6 років тому

      ELK Motorsports naw, it was the rear mount way at the back behind the ebrake. It's just above the crossmember from underneath. I was actually pretty surprised how empty it was.
      It was just awkward because my sammy isn't lifted and the crossmember makes it hard to get my stinger in there.
      Enjoying your videos bro. Keep it up.

    RivNuts? To hold your seatbelts? Are you crazy??? Just use some bubble gum. To hold the seat is not safe. There is a reason ALL seatbelts are anchored through the floor.

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  5 років тому

      I can see your concern, but they are actually used by many manufactures to mount and assemble structural components on various automotive and heavy equipment applications. The thing that you have to remember about bolts is that they produce a clamping force the larger the bolt the greater the clamping force they have. The rivnut acts as a stationary bolt that itself is sandwiched to what it is installed to, and then the bolt treads into it and applies even more clamping force. If there is any cause for concern it would be what is the combination begging attached too. Thin sheetmetal, 1/4" plate, etc.

    • @goatman3828
      @goatman3828 5 років тому

      @@ELKMotorsports rivnuts have minimal strength. They are only attached by a thin expandable lip. The hole is drilled out to let the "nut" slide through. Can't even get a washer on the back of it. If you look where the seatbelts bolt to the tub you see a larger and thicker plate underneath to prevent pullthru of the anchor nuts. We aren't talking a piece of trim or some crappy plastic fender. With the way you have it set in an accident you have an ejection seat to throw you through the winshield.

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  5 років тому

      goat man, I understand. Unfortunately the stock seats in the samurai, at least on the passenger side were already just bolted to the floor. No plate or anything, maybe the previous owner did away with them if they where there stock. I will admit I don't think the thin sheet metal floor of the samurai is sufficient. Maybe that could be a future video to address this potential hazard.
