    Trey, your video is easily the best instructional video for anyone who takes this project together. Like you say, the parts from ZOR cover almost everything you need, but from my perspective the instructions provided are totally inadequate. In this video you supplied so much of the missing information, and with the theory behind it. Thank you for bringing some of your obviously deep understanding and experience to us.
    I am in the middle of this build, and I still have one mystery I can't figure out: The intake manifold is now sometimes under vacuum and sometimes positive pressure (boost), so what is the recommended way to connect vacuum which is needed for the brake master cylinder (booster) and the distributor advance line??
    Man your help on this would be super hugely appreciated.
    Paul

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  4 роки тому +1

      This is a very good observation/question. The Interesting thing about positive and negative pressure is that it behaves the same on diaphragms and such. So hooking up your vacuum break booster should be done the same as stock. As for the vacuum advance on the distributor, in theory, as more boost/ positive pressure is applied to the motor, you would want to retard the time not advance it. But because it is only 6psi off boost just leaving the distributors vacuum advance disconnected would suffice. There are more efficient routes to go with the ignition system for turbo applications. But just leaving it disconnected would work to start off with.

    What would be the recommended way to convert that fuel system to work with a turbo? Do I need to convert it to a carburetor?

    Hello .. i have a question.
    I have a Suzuki swift gti but it have in the sohc g13b carburetor engine it currently using a universal fuel pump that's in the engine bay. It have the option for the pump in the tank .. but i dont what pump to use for the tank . I don't want to use the Universal fuel pump anymore it does it run sufficient enough.. thank you in advance

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  3 роки тому +1

      Your best bet would be tio go with what is used stock. But most likely it's going to be for a fuel injected engine, so you will need to get a fuel pressure regulator that can turn that high psi down to around 3-4 psi. And you will have to run a return line from that regulator back to the tank. This isn't a hard job as far as installation, but you will need to do so research as far as parts. I hope this helps

    for you relay to the fuel pump you are saying you ran power to both post. Does that mean when you key on the relay in energized then you are running a wire to the 12V on the fuel pump and a grounding to the chassis?

    • @ELKMotorsports
      @ELKMotorsports  6 років тому

      I mean the two powers to the relay. There is a switch power, and a power to energize the fuel pump. It comes off the light green wire at the back of the fuse box under the dash. And both grounds are to the body.

    I watched another video with a guy putting on this kit and he had a lot of problems with detonation and a hard time timing it. Did you experience the same problems? Do you have to run 100 octane or will 92 octane from the pump be OK. how dramatic of a power increase is it??? i’m trying to decide whether to do a built 1.3 L or install a 1.9 TDI diesel (ALH) that I have. I really prefer the diesel but it seems like a 1.3 L would be the easiest and I have a bunch of upgrades for it already like the low range GM alternator kit and the sidekick power steering kit already installed on my old tired 1.3 L.

      Most likely the stock carb isn't going to have the fuel output you need for the added incoming forced air. There are some really good simple TBI setups that can be put on carbed intake manifolds. Or you can go the CV carb route.

    Did you put forged pistons in that engine? how much boost are you trying to make? I think your videos are really good and I tried to answer my own questions by watching your video on when you assembled the short block, but they are too long for me too watch at the moment, of course if I was actually building one I would probably watch every second of it 5 times, but for now I just wanted to know what you have to say about turbo charging and whether or not you need forged pistons. Oh yeah that was awesome how you put those wrist pins in, I was seriously amazed even though I've seen someone do it like that before but it didn't go that smooth. ok 6ps1 disregard that portion of the question,
