Bummer Tim, that's how it goes when you don't take the time to check vehicles out thoroughly or take it to a reputable shop and spend the money and have a mechanic check it out. I have had this problem many times in my 74 years.
Yup fact!
Dude, I feel for you man but love your positive attitude. Everything is going to work out... you got this. Hope you enjoyed that burger...(I'm sure you did). Keep on roll'n Timmy !!!
Hilarious. I could tell you were really pissed at the beginning but ya still came out of it with a smile on your face and a killer burger. Good for you.
He is an amazing person to get on with it.
Great adventures Timmy. Thanks for taking the time to share. Love watching down here in Texas on the warm Gulf Coast.
Looking forward to watching the Samari off road. I have a neighbor with a Samari. He dropped a Chevy 4.3 v6 in his. Now it’s a little beast!
Just watched your last 2 videos. So excited for the sami. I cant wait to see those videos. It's awesome how much you and your channel has grown. I first found you at 15k. Keep climbing man you deserve it!
Right on, yup it's been a fun journey, literally!
I appreciate your honesty in all of this. Many UA-camrs won't ever show their mistakes after the fact, but you handled like like a champ. I hope you do a burgers across America run one day lol. I have a few Texas recommendations!
I know about having days like that bud lol and u being the 1st one cut off in line was the topping on the cake. Just don't ever lose your positivity man it's awesome how u keep pushing forward 👍👍👍👍
Sounds like you know how to keep your head up;)
Adventure and adversity go hand in hand! Looking forward to the new content for sure!! Still love the existing stuff too! Keep your chin up - all’s well that ends well.
Dont get discouraged. Its part of the journey and you are making great content to share with us.
Man...Tacoma is a crazy place. I have a story about tacoma:
I just traveled 1700 miles to pick up an Alaskan Camper in tacoma. That evening, I found the walmart there(already a good story when "walmart" is added to anything), asked the first employee I could find if it was okay to camp out in the parking lot for an evening. He said "no problem" so I set up camp. About an hour later around 930pm, I heard some serious drama happening just outside my window. There was one pedestrian yelling at another guy in a Toyota PU who was attempting to leave and this guy was blocking his way. Then, the pickup found a way around him, burned out, and left. But then after about 50 yards, slams on his brakes, peels out in reverse back towards this pedestrian, and swerves towards him. This happened about 2 times before the pedestrian pulls a gun on the guy in the car, and then decides it's probably a good idea to leave at this point. Fricken Tacoma.
Then....a couple hours later, I was told by another walmart employee that they dont allow overnight camping, and i had to move. But by this time, I was okay with that.
Sad…waste land Washington and shittyeattle….
On the bright side I really look forward to you documenting the new engine replacement and other repair videos that will transpire off your new samurai. Thank you for another great video and showing us first hand that life has many hidden surprises that can suck. But I’m still fully convinced your samurai will turn out to be a successful investment because you’ll know exactly how to doctor it back to life👍
ohhh it's coming and it'll be all good!
I always wanted a Samurai back in the 80's. Cool looking when modified. Best of luck to you on the journey!
Dang bro you have such a good attitude. Between the laptop, the samurai, and the covid test I would have had such a bad day and you handled it perfectly
Trying to lol.
@@laska907 I didn't see ya bro, I wouldn't purposefully not wave or nod my head (usually nod) if I saw you waiving lol.
Keep trucking forward and roll with the punches, love your vids
ALWAYS put your keys on anything important before you leave. You will never forget it. 🙂
Works for my sweatshirt when I go to the gym!! 😆
Timmy, you’re recovery skills and attitude throughout this part of the adventure are inspiring. Curious to hear how the phone call went.
He does have the patience of a saint… very impressive.
The seller did nothing to help, said it was my problem now.
@@TruckHouseLife I know you seem very easy going and all but-don’t you just want to kick that bastard in the nuts? It just goes to prove-you really have to check things out very very carefully because some people are complete low life’s and will take advantage when they can…sorry you had to have this experience but I’m sure you learned from it and will do things differently in the future.
Yea that guy was a dink for sure.
Dink being UA-cam autocorrect for another word that he definitely is.
Cool to see you rolling through portland, I take that exit all the time. Definitely a brutal few days you had!
I like your videos. Talk about keeping it real! People see ‘van-life’ as this worry free life of ease…I think this video will set them straight!
Timmy, I like your positive attitude but I can’t believe you bought the Samurai without test driving it. You’ll fix it & it’ll be fine. Take care buddy..!
Yup lesson learned!
Way to keep your cool Timmy. I could feel your frustration. The sun will come up in the morning. Cheers
I tried to stay cool lol.
Good luck with the Suzuki repairs and be safe.
Your positive attitude speaks volumes about the type of character you have. It will take you far in life.
thanks:)
Great video Tim cant wait for the next video bro
The folks at Matt’s Offroad Recovery and Fabrats have been doing some recent Samurai work. They might have some helpful leads.
Do we all follow the same youtubers??
Buying an '87 Samurai this weekend... hopefully have some better luck. The guy has a farm to drive it around on... but im getting my folks to check it out. My dad is no slouch though.
I'm so fricken excited!! Ive wanted on of thesw for 9 years... should have bought pre-covid, but better late than never!!
Wish me luck gentlemen 😊🙏
What a rough day, good job staying positive and going! Find a place to rest for a couple days…..
Man, you're taking that with an incredible amount of patience. Seems like you get a bunch of good days and then one for the record books. Feast or famine. Sorry to hear about the samurai. I'm sure you can work it out.
Trying to!
Never sight unseen
Maybe thats why the driveshaft was missing....you might need a transfer case or something. Whenever the driveshaft is off, there's probably something wrong.
What did the dork say when you called him? Maybe he got ripped off too. Kind of surprised you don't know the difference in an 8 valve and 16 valve. Or you didn't even look?
Anyway, I always say " not all adventures are fun!" Keep on truckin' and we will keep on watchin!
Yup it gets worse in the next episode. I just listened to the engine in the dark (picked it up at 11pm) didn't see it to see it wasn't the 16v:(
Love your videos!!! Look forward to them every time
Thanks!
Have a BLESSED day
You are the happiest dude on UA-cam! Keep rocking man!!
Trying to keep my head up;)
What a bad day. It is all s part of the adventure though. Hope it all works out in the long run Be safe and cautious with that thing.
So sorry about your safety concerns😳 Welcome to the Left Coast!!!
Sorry to hear this Timmy! He will get his justice for lying to you.
Ruff day and you handled it very well. Some days are like that for everyone. Thankful they don’t happen that often . Sleep well
Hey Timmy, know that we really like you to keep it real. Vent anytime. Life is ups and downs.
Ohhh it's real alright, it gets worse wait for it hahaha....
I did same bought a Samurai online in Costa Rica, picked me up airport. Made it half way to my condo clutch went out.. fortunately everything cheap for samurai. Great little 4x4!
Good luck with the sammi, I’m sure you can get it sorted out
I bought a 82 one ton with wiring problems. Turns out i need a new flasher switch with a ground for the rear led lights. Haven't got it yet but hopefully it will work
Right on, good to know!
Aww man some bad luck! Hope the guy gives you some money back on the Samurai. It’s cute. I remember them back in the day. Hope your luck turns around!
He didn't, said it was my problem now lol.
@@TruckHouseLife ugh people!!
Put em on blast. Have no tolerance for people like that. You may want to put some blocks on the trailer wheels when loading and unloading the trailer. Could shear the transmission park gear in your main rig....
It's 100% on Timmy for not doing his due diligence. You make mistakes, you own it, it's nobody else's fault but his but I absolutely agree that he needs to chalk his tires
I wish, but I hate cancel culture;)
Yup was my fault for not test driving, but that doesn't mean the seller ain't a liar;)
@@TruckHouseLife if he lied you can def get your money back and make him fix it. Print a copy of the ad.
Wow...another crazy road-side story! All adventure has a cost. But adventure we must!! 👍😎📷🌎🇨🇦🏅
Ole Randy Gibbs is a good guy. Bought a ton of parts from him over the past year. Absolutely love my samurai
Yup you'll see Randy in a couple episodes coming up lol!
Rodney Dangerfield;
The one time I was inside a Five Guy's Burger. I said "Hey, I'm looking for a job. Do you need a Sixth Guy?!"
lol
Check around block heater. Blocks crack if you have the block heater. A friend who had one had to rebuild the motor due to that.
I shared this with a teenager who believes his life is over when he’s asked to disconnect from his laptop for 3 minutes to take recycling outside to a bin. It’s all negative attitude about everything. He’s not mine but I’m trying to help. I thought your attitude in the face of a really crap situation was brilliant. Thank you for sharing. Perseverance is a skill.
right on lol
Love that winch. Want to get me one of those.
Timmy you totally made the most out of your Trip to the lower 48 Man I can't believe how many things you did
Tried to!
I have bought a number of grading machines in my career that were not as advertised. Once you get the Suzuki fixed, you will know what you have. It’s great that you like adventures, good luck
One thing I always buy new is construction equipment, it's significantly more expensive but 1/10th of the headache which is totally worth it to me
Tacoma uggg, you came through Wa when we had that crazy snow event
About an hour ago I was typing.. great buy. Now it's.. I'd have never buy a junker like that..
I'm just kidding, it will work out. Love the video
lol
Best thing you can do with a Zook is swap out to a 1.8 out of a sidekick. OR you can if you swap out to a F10A 1 liter and turbo it. A lot of trails limit offroad vehicles to 1 liter and certain dimensions. Putting in the F10A lets you get around all that since a Zook is already smaller than a 4 door side by side.
It's got a 1.6 8 valve sidekick, still a good engine, just not the 16v I bought/paid for.
@@TruckHouseLife Man that stinks, been burned a time or two on buying rigs. It sucks when it happens.
5 guys again ! Always put those visits in, soon you'll have a eat for free card : )
Five Guys....great meal ...hope things get better with the Samari!
Bad carma for the seller Timmy. It's still a tidy little truck, I think the guy swapped in the new dash and couldn't finish the job, also I'm now worried about the front diff since the driveshaft was missing. Anyway good luck dude
Right?! It's all good, I'll get it sorted eventually;)
That sucks about the Samurai! Still the body looks in great shape! Can’t wait for the next video to see what his excuse was!
No excuse, he just said it's my problem now lol.
Timmy, I hate that you had to run into a bad actor on the samie. Sadly, there is no shortage of crooks in the world. We have all been there. Hopefully you will get enough great content from the bad experience to more than offset the loss.
One thing I’ve found to be true over a long life is that everything happens for a reason. The reason might not be evident at the time, but it eventually becomes clear to you. Hang in there…the positive attitude you always display is a real winner!
Dude I cant belive you were basically right next to my house, I'm maybe 5 minutes away from canyon road where that Wilco is..... And youre not wrong about Tacoma life, if something isnt secure it'll walk away lol
The front drive shaft may be the vibration you are getting, I use to turn my free lock to free on the front diff so the front shaft would not turn.
That's part of it for sure.
Great attitude!
Sorry to see that, Whenever im looking at a 4wd truck to buy and it has a bluetooth front driveshaft im sceptical at best.
lol
Oregon gone good I hope 🤞 the best thing is it’s hippyish good- dang sorry about your samurai 🍋 I hope you have better luck 🍀 joy 🤩
Wow, small world, I live in Washington and I used to have a Sami, Randy was one of the 2 guys I found on Craigslist who I would get parts from.
Awww man! I hope that guy works something out with you with the Samurai.
Dude... Did you not check out the car before rolling it on the trailer??? That was painful to watch!!!
Nope, but just cause I'm an idiot doesn't mean the seller wasn't a liar;)
@@TruckHouseLife Oh the seller's *completely* deplorable! No doubt about that. I don't think you're an idiot.
Sorry you got lied too about your used vehicle! I know how pissed I would be!! Thanks for your humour in this video though.
Man for real im only 7 mins into the video but we understand! I hope the guy u bought it from works it out with u. People can be so grimmy! I just dont understand it but either way with some work the Sammie will be awesome! Wish u well! 🤘🤘
He said it was my problem now lol. Cheers though man:)
Keep it up Timmy. Almost there 😃
Sorry about your luck man, but you know drama makes good content 😂😂
lol
I damn near choked to death on a 5 guys burger. Timmy you were born under a fleeting star.
👍🏻🤠🇬🇧💯🙏love your Posativity and Tenacity Timmy keep on Trucking my friend the Truck House Life Way bro!!! Awesome footage as usual informative and inspirational!! Samurai Randy 🇺🇸🇺🇸👏👏👏☝️Dave in Cornwall 🇬🇧🤠
thanks man:)
Timmy isn't the first vlogger to lose his computer while traveling. He won't be the last.
TDI SWAP! WooHoo
As far as the electrical maybe there is a ground to the frame that came disconnected
working on it slowly haha
Went right threw my neck of the woods in Washington and I missed it!
Buying a Sammy is Buying a project. Gotta be ready to learn and work. Should be able to fix and patch whatever the dude sold you Good rigs and fun driving. Eight valve engine can give you plenty of fun factor. Enjoy what you got, it will be great.
I’m guessing the drive shaft was missing for a reason.
My thoughts exactly
yup it definitely was lol, wait for it...
I would pull that drive shaft off and see if it still does it that might be the problem it might need to be balanced
Next few episodes the truth comes out;)
Well I like rebuilding 4x4. / Edit I love it. My passion. Working on that 95 f250 7.3. Fun times
Samurai's are the mattle toys of cars. Simple to work on. Love my 86 highly modified. Need help let me know. 👍👍
Nice cheers man!
Def holla if you need a place to park/crash with the rig in Portland…you are covered! We have a remote date that closes 👍
Cool, thanks!
Sorry for all your bad juju! Hang in there!
lots of sidkicks and samauris down here around kelowna bc and have seen some in calgary alberta for parts or whatever ya need, listerd on FB marketplace
FYI
Dang. .. and Portland too..
Your positive attitude will help you win the day ! Keep on Trucking! Enjoy your content. #wulffdendad
Thanks man!
Hang in there bro, sucks but it can’t rain all the time.
Waiting for a guy with one tooth under the 'Jesus Scares You' sign to walk up to Timmy;
"Hi, I'm Jesus. I have one tooth left from my crack habit. Can you direct me to a dentist?"
Timmy, so sorry about the Samurai! Hopefully the guy who you bought it from makes it right. Hope you get to enjoy it once it's squared away.
He didn't, said it's my problem now. I'll get it fixed up though.
@@TruckHouseLife well, I hope you have a ton of fun with it once it’s good to go. Glad those other folks are taking good care of you.
A Samuri Junkyard? Nice. Hangout and rebuild it as you Quarantine.
Better make some samurai lemonade 😂thanks Timmy.
lol oohhhhh I did.
Could be the computer, button the don't turn off that a bad wire touching somewhere. But the good news Their all connected to one problem of bad wireing that missing
Have you thought about getting a driveway alarm pointed out back so you will get a ding ding when the thieves come calling :)
Dude that sign has been there forever.
Hey, appreciate ya keeping it real. That's about how my luck goes too. ... All that electrical aint that bad to fix once you get hang of it. Just google hard. Be patient and learn. .... I have a diesel leak, so im doing the drain valve o rings. Had to pull the turbo off to get to it on the van though. I got lucky and broke all 4 manifold up pipe collector bolts w/o stripping em. I beat a metric size impact socket, just bearly under 8mm, so i didnt strip anything and got those bolts to break and collector off easy, vs cutting heads off bolts b/c no room and fuel there. LOL. I got a video coming on it sometime.
Lol dang man that sucks.
@@TruckHouseLife It wasnt bad though. I enjoy workin on it. And it really did go good by breaking the bolts off. lol.
Next time unplug the coil 😁 your vibration might come from the driveshafts (angles or worn joints). They are fairly simple to repair.
hahaha
I have an 88 samuai my mods are so few and so minor I have to call it bone stock original paint soft top 117000 miles . really love mine Guess she been with me 10 years now . Gotta say that looks real nice 8v and 16v are easy to tell single cam vs dual cam 16v . hope to see a walk around of what you do have . I drove 100 miles to get mine off a craigs list add guy had a a frame towbar and I flat towed it home with my 4 banger ford ranger ! Good Luck w Sammi, Timmy
Yup it was dark and i was supposed to be the 16v, I didn't check lol, lesson learned.
Sorry for your troubles with the Samauri . I have been following for some time now. I am also pursuing a Samaruri . There is one in New Jersey that is same year and it has a tin cap top.
Can you send me the contact you have in Portland I believe it was, that has parts.
I am in Pennsylvania and I weekend live out of my 2017 Silverado while guiding rafts on the Lehigh River. I also do river rescue on the Upper Delaware with the National Canoe Safety Patrol. Keep your head up.
You make us all jealous of your trips despite the struggles.
Peace bro!
Jim
Look up Randy Gibbs in Washington for Samurai parts, he's on facebook marketplace.
now we know why the driveshaft was gone;. take it off and it shoudl be fine.. you have an orbital gear chewed up.. go get a new one and some rtv it will be an afternoon and some content..
yup! episodes coming;)
Sucks to get lied too & get way more of a project than you expect. Don't get upset about the motor, It's not half the horsepower, it's barley 10 less & the 8 valve makes its peek horsepower & torque at a lower rpm making it better for crawling.
I love my 1988 samurai on 33's & look forward to seeing yours in action.
Fact! Yup I was just talking crazy, the 8v is actually more reliable so maybe it's a blessing in disguise, just wanted/paid for the 16v so I can rally the highway speeds a little better, it's a 7 hour drive to anywhere in Alaska lol.
