Back in Black is one of my all-time favorites, it was originally recorded in 1980.
Amazingly it still sounds modern, and I think that's because everything is simple, no gimmicks. In the 80s so many guitar players drenched their sounds with effects, me included..!!
But the sounds that stand the test of time are generally pure guitar and amp sounds, I believe AC/DC always kept it pure.
To play Back in Black well, I think guitarists has to strike just right with the right hand. I would describe it as a light touch but a strong snap from the wrist. It's the same technique that probably works best for golf or tennis.

Recent subscriber here. love the concise but honest instruction. Have played for 35 years and lots of paid bands but have never been able to play the first lick of the loop right. lol. I was overthinking it. This helped me understand it. Very true about the walk up part on verse, a large stretch, best to slide into last to E5. Great song selection also. thanks!

Dear Tim, thanks for this great lesson. I follow all your contributions and feel that they really help to improve my playing. I am playing Keyboards since I was 7, so for me is kind of hard to switch without taking lessons. I more or less got stuck since 1998 :-) but now there is really some progress so I am confident to play some tunes with guitar on stage with our cover band. I like your seamless versatile playing of different styles. Thanks again and greetings from Bavaria, it's near Germany ;-)
