It never ceases to amaze me that there's a place where you can get the greatest information from world class musicians for free , and 133 people still give it a thumbs down .
I know who thumbs down stuff like this? I swear if someone got video of Jesus coming down from heaven riding a unicorn there’s some jackass out there that would 👎
Gitfiddle 7766 I think it’s just the Expectation Generation. They expect everything for free and then complain about how it sucked after they’re done. (Cue the ever imaginative “OK Boomer” response). 😂
Yeah how in the world is there any thumbs down on this? 🤷♂️
Tim's amazing for how he plays and what he shares. On top of being an amazing musician he's so darn likable and transparent. I can see why someone would be overwhelmed by how good he is and how masterfully he plays. It can be intimidating.
Possibly they either A) knew everything and simply cannot learn more because they're awesome gods of the guitar or B) simply couldn't fathom the content and dismissed it as "I don't need this, I'm awesome" or C) thought that the video was too long and thought "give me the 10 tips already..."
I don't know what it is about Tim...
He plays so clean. Every note he frets and string he hits is clear to the eye and the ear.
He's a genius on the guitar, but watching him play and hearing his instruction, makes me think I can actually be as good as him, and he speaks to us like he believes we can too.
I guess that's what it is about Tim...
Well put!
hey thank you so much for this comment I just saw it!
@@timpierceguitar no worries mate! I enjoy your work.
Man I was just having the opposite reaction... I've "played" guitar for over 50 years and at 68 I was just thinking I will never be able to do these things.
Well said, I totally agree!
Tim is like a Merlin figure. He was hidden yet always there, metaphorically waiting for the day we matured enough to appreciate his wisdom and the lessons of his exploits. I can't deny that my playing and attitude towards playing have changed for the better. I ultimately did it although, you more than helped to reignite that fire and sense of wonder I felt when I first held a guitar. For that you have my gratitude, my thanks and my undivided attention anytime I see a Tim Pierce Guitar video lol. I see how awesome you are not just as a musician, but as my fellow Man. Thank you again!
Hi Tim as a lifelong professional guitarist and composer seeing you in your session work recently i was actually impressed with your playing you put your heart into it. As i do with all my recordings and live shows. Hats off to you brother.
Checked out your channel. You are a fantastic guitar player.
The muting tips are priceless. Not many UA-camrs talk about it, but it is so important to getting a good sound.
Man, so much wisdom in this video...THANKS TIM! You're a legend.
Rhett Thanks so much for the comment
😐😐 sus
The reason I like this channel is this guy isn't trying to show people how to play like Malmsteen or Gambele. He's simply trying to show guitarists how to be useful and how to be capable. Thats what sets him apart and thats why I view him as valuable.
@@ItsJustDre-TV notice how the legends dont call eachother gay shit, they just show respect.
Tim I just realized you are also from Albuquerque. Small world. What HS did you go to? Manzano here.@@timpierceguitar
Tim pierce.. possibly one of the best unsung guitarists on the planet..awesome..
Steve Lukather has a style this guy can't touch, & so does Tobin Abassi
Couldn’t agree with you more. Tim is spectacular
I would say posstily would ever be a potential world... He is a heavyweight!!!
@@rmtoelle Tosin Abasi is a highly sung guitarist, definitely not a unsung guitarist
I don't think I've ever watched an instruction video where I hung on every damn word you said and grasped every damn thing you did. Thank you. I am subscribed now and I'm off and running with whatever you've got to teach.
Tim, I've just started watching your stuff. I'm nowhere near your capabilities guitar-wise, but I find your kind-hearted, honest, egoless take on everything to be very inspirational. Thank you so much.
That was well said! Same for me Tim! Your sense of pure joy playing your PRS and your humbleness and zero ego is so inspiring! It reminds me there are so many jerks in this world and how nice it is to listen to a kind hearted soul. Thank you 🙏🏼
I come back to this just to hear the opening jam. To me that is soloing perfection. It raises my fur every time I listen to it! Love you Tim Pierce!❤️✌️🤘
A free master class from a master. No, I can't do everything Tim does here, but I try and do what I can well and that's the beauty of music. At any level, the learning never stops.
Tim your definition of feeling within dynamics of the picking hand is perfect
Your videos and Rick Beatos vids compliment each other nicely. He discusses theory and you discuss mechanics.
I agree!
@Cool Story Bro actually, he is very articulate and concise. He is simply not catering to the 'anyone can play guitar' crowd.
@Cool Story Bro Actually that's just old school tutelage. Some explain theory "in much better ways" but are inaccurate and unusable. They just sound like they make sense.
@Cool Story Bro have you seen his (Beato) video on theory ever muscian needs to know"? I guarantee you half the famous rock and blues guitarist dont "know or at least understand " what he posted. Yet, they live it and play it everyday! Look at BB King (rip). He said: I just play!
They are the Lennon and McCartney of UA-cam lessons!
I have played mostly as a hobby for over 35 years. I still learn new things all if the time; especially, when I watch one of your videos.
The playing and tone in this video is absolutely masterful.
Tim you are truly an amasing guy and musician. Thank you so much for all that you share, whether it is just getting down with your bad self or passing on your knowledge from sensitive to rocking out, and everything in between.
Hopefully not too much for you, but you are the greatest guitarist I have ever seen and heard. That you pass that on to us and open up our own musicianship in playing the guitar with such humble authority and experience leaves me in awe. You are my adopted master.
Tim excellent lesson and amazing playing as always. Thanks for sharing this with everyone.
Thanks for sharing these great tips. Love your videos!
Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom Mr. Pierce
Thank you Tim for all this great content. Pure gold. Very useful tips & tricks.
Absolutely excellent advice Mr. Pierce. You are a true professional. Thank you so kindly.
Thanks Tim, I like tips and tricks lessons sometimes even if there are no specific riffs or note instruction or special words to describe things, there is a lot to learn just listening as you wade through all of it, seems like we all are trying to discover that famous lead note progression and get it perfect that we forget the emotional details that music is suppose to convey. great stuff , again thank you so much for spending your time to help us .
J-J
Quite possibly the most useful youtube video I've ever watched. You sir are an inspiration. Thank you for the many great tips.
Loved the tone, the melodies, the insights and the goodwill wisdom of Mr. Pierce. You always rock.
This is the first video I've seen by Tim and he is so dynamically advanced as a player it was really a delight for me to discover him.
The opening line is great, and the fleet-fingered section that follows hops modes as the chord changes happen - really colorful - perks your ears up on every bar! Nice!
Great advice. These are the type of videos that are so informative. Thank you. It’s the nuances that separate a good guitar player from a great player. Love it.
Excellent video! That's some deep knowledge. Many thanks for posting. I'll be looking into your lessons.
Man I love listening to this guy play guitar! Thanks Tim
Amazing tips, Tim! I especially love how you focused so much on locking in with the snare and string muting. I do a lot of high gain and fuzz stuff with presets changing for each song, so muting is essential. Keep up the good work!
Mister Pierce, this is truly amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. It is very inspiring to witness your style of playing. Awesome !
Man Tim I am so thankful I found you. We are so Blessed to have someone like you to share a lifetime of experience like this. No mater what you teach or share it always comes down to the love of the Music. Thanks again for the inspiration, I need a little push sometimes. God Bless
thank you for this lesson
I always say Tim is the best at teaching technique. Perfect demonstration of that here. Brilliant!
You're great Tim, makes me keep trying harder and harder to be great. Thx for the Videos
I love your blues shred style Mr. Pierce! Thanks for the lesson.
I've been working in studios and on stages for over 40 years and I'm astonished to find out how little I know about the mechanics of playing the guitar, the the science of what makes a great rhythm part great and a thousand more aspects of my job that are described in beautiful detail in every video clip Tim Pierce bequeathes us. I'll walk away from this lesson and be cognizant of muting strings more so than I ever have before. Thanks so much for your always thoughtful and concise manner of teaching, Tim. You're a role model for every guitarist wishing to become better and your playing is always exquisitely soulful, thoughtful and freaking perfectly played!
From the first notes I heard you play...which was on a Rick Beato feature...my immediate impression was that I had never heard a player of ANY instrument play with such confidence and precision. This presentation goes a long way toward showing HOW you do it. Really amazing.
Thanks for the explanations Tim. Now I have a better understanding of why it's always a joy to hear you play.
Revisited this today, man, you are such an enrichment for the world of electric guitars and you teach with such an ease and make everything so approachable. And you love what you do, which is really great to watch! Thx a lot! Be well!
Maaaaaan, I love these videos. There's not many musicians akin to Tom Pierce that give information as insightful and time tested away, for free, to whomever is looking for it. Respect.
Every time I have met Tim, such a nice guy, and honestly, seems genuine in how humble and thankful he is for his fans
Love your style of playing, great insight, & also love the studio sessions clips, rock on & God Bless!!!
How cool that you took us into the studio session too. You're an excellent player. Thanks!
You’re a legend Tim!! Thanks always for sharing your wealth of knowledge with the world and your amazing talent!!
There is a treasure trove of great playing to experience here.
That beginning jam is Gold! Thank you for sharing an amazing moment with us!
Amazing. Love it. Keep up the great work. by the end of the year I will sign up for your masterclass. Thank you.
You have without a doubt become my favorite guitarist after discovering you this past year and your ability to teach is light years above most. Every video is just such an enjoyable experience even if you're not teaching something. But this last month I started watching 1 new video of yours every night and then REALLY spending hours absorbing what you're throwing down and focusing on the finer aspects of your playing. Needless to say my playing has advanced light years and my vibrato has gone from being a randomish accent at times to developing into a fully musical expression where every nuance matters every time. Thanks brother. Apparently the guitar hero isn't a dead genre after all. Keep em coming. You've really helped me up my game.
Once again Tim, fantastic tips for us players who all too often get caught up in only the notes on the neck and disregard right hand picking dynamics which is , as Joe Walsh says, where the real feel comes from.
Absolute informative video as always! Thanks Tim!
This has got to be one of the greatest lessons on the tube! This is what every aspiring recording guitarist needs to see! Thanks so much Tim!
When Tim stated, "Pick as if you are speaking a sentence" peaks/valleys, hard/soft, but with confidence when soloing, the lightbulb went on...Tim, Peter Frampton, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Gilmour, and check out Mick Taylor/Rory Gallagher. Their touch is like a painters brush with emotion & feel when playing...Tx again to Tim👍🎶🎵🎼👌❤
One of the best guitar players i've ever heard... thank you so much for this...
Wow, you are really old school and that is what I love about your playing so much! You are doing real music and not just technical scale running up and down! There is really a lot we can learn from guys like you! Thanks a lot for sharing! Excellent job! Happy new year 2020! Subscribed already! ;)
Such a great musician & teacher!! Thanks so much🙌
Great information simply presented! I am forever telling people “play in time, and vary your dynamics”. They don’t always do it, but at least they get the idea. When I tell people that I play every note hard, especially the soft ones, I get blank looks. I am going to steal your excellent explanation. Which is appropriate, as I’ve stolen every every guitar idea I’ve ever had.
I have been playing since the age of 3 and I've been to Musicians Institute and played with some of the best on the planet, but you really really really make me rethink my playing every time I watch your videos. Thank you so very much!!!
Thanks Tim! There is so much great information in these episodes that you recorded before I found you. So I'm going back thru time.
Tim, your tone is simply the greatest. Not just the gear and settings, but your touch and picking dynamics. Your lessons are always enjoyable and helpful. Humble thanks.
I want to grow up to be Tim Pierce... and I'm older than him!
Me n you both man , believe me i am taking notes .lol
And me. The young whippersnapper has a few tricks up hus sleeve though.
Me too, guys. Older than Tim and still trying to git it. Thanks, Tim!
@@11calman - Compared to the bass player's wife, she's got it easy!
Me too, in both counts!
I'm always so happy just to see that Hiwatt behind you. I'm always called an old guy because I'm still playing through mine...Makes me feel old.....
Good stuff as always Tim.. thanks buddy!
Blaydrnnnr thé hiwatt at a certain time was the amplifier that every one played . But even today you will be hard pressed to find a better amp .
So much valuable information. Genuine teaching. Thanks!
Hey Tim great to see you again. Ever since I stumbled upon you on you tube you constantly amaze me. You have really brought my playing along, thanks. And I love your attitude and work ethic.
Hey Tim - Great video, super good tips. If possible, can you do a video on how you develop the muting into "second nature"?
Mr. Pierce, that opening solo was one of the best guitar solos I have ever heard. No joke! Hats off to you, Sir!
Gonna have to agree with you there.
...feels like it's a daily routine for him!!...no wonder he's such in demand!!...life or death!!...I mean, how more commited to excellence can you get!!...
straight up!
Mr. Pierce thank you for generously sharing your wealth of guitar knowledge. When I click on any of your posts, I always know that I am about to be enlightened. It’s good to see someone enjoying playing and helping others at the same time. Keep on keepin on! Respect from Tupelo, Mississippi...Birthplace of “Elvis” man !😎🎸
Knowledge passed on. Good stuff. Thanks Tim
Love this: "I'm also playing very light because.. paradoxically, the biggest tones come from hitting the guitar lightly and letting the amp and the gain *bloom* from it." - Tim Pierce
To a fair extent, how right that comment is. I use mainly .30mm rubber picks and the sweet can be sweet and natural.
the dudes a mind grenade wealth of generous advice. can't get enough 'em. best subscribe I ever done did! lol!
Stumbled upon your video. It was great to see you articulate these great tips that are the foundation of developing YOUR sound.
Where would the guitar world be without Tim Pierce, it's incredible that he shares his vast knowledge across the world. THANK YOU TIM, you've been so helpful in all the questions I haven't a clue about yet still make it easy to understand.
You appear completely surrounded. How do you get in there? Do you lower yourself from a hatch in the ceiling?
Tim climbs down a ladder from the UFO that brought him here to teach us Earthlings how to play better.
Trapdoor in the basement :P
He's a holograph. He's actually filmed in another location, and "beamed" into his studio/cage.
He gets beamed down from his starship
Rises up through the floor.
i absolutely love your lessons! i wish i found someone like you 45 years ago.....
@kbaron007, so does Tim.
This is the most helpful video you've ever made. Big thanks for your job!
Thank you for so much great information, I appreciate it for sure!
I liked his “desirable mistake” at 11:06. He’s like the Bob Ross of guitar. He doesn’t make mistakes, he has happy accidents.
I think that you are the best guitar teacher ever. I replied from South Korea. Take care of yourself from Corona 19 Virus
Great tips Tim. I do believe that most of them come from one's experience and years of playing. Many times, without doing it consciously, we develop our own little techniques to remedy situations that arise naturally. From watching your video I realized that I also do many of the things you mentioned, but without ever been taught to do so. They just happened. It was a really nice idea of you to put the tricks-in-your-bag together and share them with the world. Thank you!
Hey Tim, I love watching the videos and segments of you working. It is so cool. If yo work enough you could do another whole program. Keep em coming.!
Tim, this is the best video by anyone in a long, long time. It clarified so many things, that I’ve been wondering about for the longest time. You know, “I feel this is the way to do such and such, but am I, in fact, right?”. This confirmed so many things for me. I can develop and refine a number of things, now. So, thank you 😊
Thank you for the great comment :)
Exactly my feeling.
this video answers so many questions that I ask myself.
Thanks so much mister Tim.
@@timpierceguitar I'm laying in bed watching. Today I broke 4 strings so that wiped me out. Lucky I have 3 or 4 guitars strung up. New strings be her 2 days. Well my fingers are cut and bleeding so break time. You make me want to play more. Guys listen he is spot on. Wisdom and he is shareing secrets that take decades.
Revealed in this video - the name of Tim's new band. Tim Pierce's Rhythm Authority.
Loved it.
Amazing advice Tim!!! Thanks so much x
It’s very inspiring to watch your commitment. Cheers and thank you
Man, you're really great. That precision...
Hi to all we we it up no mk
Play with intent - every note has motivation behind it, every note has purpose.
Thank you for sharing these insides...
I am so very glad that I discovered your channel! It's a true wealth of great information. Thank you!
Jeepers, that intro was low key spectacular. Fantastic tips. You're one of the few guitarists I'd love to hear cover Joe Walsh's 'Walk Away'.
eJacob Cornelius thought I was the only one using jeepers.
You're such a pleasant man! Can I put you in my pocket and carry you around with me through my day. It's REALLY hard to stay crabby when you're around that type of positive energy.
Tim, you are one of the best guitar players I've ever seen! You make everything seem so easy and effortless, I'm just amazed every time I watch one of your videos!
Great presentation Tim, I like the way you put in in simple terms.
Super tips Tim. Well said. Some of these things took me years to understand.
Man, Tim! You really shredd! But in a sophisticated, grown up kinda way! This is the stuff of the Elite! Your unassuming delivery is next level Jedi kinda stuff! ... (bows down low to the ground)
Thanks Tim! These tips are nuggets of gold!
This is video is just world-class. Thanks, thanks, thanķs... 🙌 And I could keep listening to that guitar tone for years...amazing!!
What is super fun for me, is that every detail you're sharing with us, I've been sharing with my students for years. At times, I felt like an isolated guitar dork, so I appreciate hearing you dive all the way into the minutia of technique and tone.
Thank you so much for this great comment yeah I feel like a dork too ha ha
Like others said, your talent, delivery, tastefulness are killer, thanks for this! I'm amazed even one person gave a thumbs down! Maybe they didn't like the new curtains?? I'll even give the curtains a big thumbs UP! Very cool, man! No wonder people want your playing on their tracks!
Curtain envy
Thanks for the pointers Tim!
I watch this now and then, when it pops up and still it teaches me and reminds me - thx, man!
