I love the way he switches between English and French whenever he feels like it...it's done so smoothly you hardly even notice when you understand both languages. I love love love how he also did tutorials as a speech on TedTalk...that's so cool
I'm French, and I noticed most French-speaking people are ashamed of their English. I don't really know why, it's the like the way we're taught English teaches us that we'll never be good at it and we should be ashamed of it o.o Or maybe it's just that we don't get to practice it a lot, since French is spoken in a lot of countries.
Petite Plume it is because english people spoke french for 500 years until the beginning of the 19th century; and still speaks it well enough. french people are just bad at english, so it is something to be a shamed of if the worst enemy you had had in history speaks your language better than the other way round :) btw I am french too :P
Lord Blubb I think it's just cause of the English teachers in France (Belgique too ? I don't know) , who are obsessed with "good pronunciation" - so lot of French people have learn English during ... maybe 10 years, and instead of have learn to speak, to be curious, to say what they want, what they like, what they think, they just heard they can't speak english cause they can't speak it "well", which means each years they learn the same things with the same french accent and hear this one is not "THE GOOD ONE", even if we all know that its a lie, 'cause there's no good one, there are lot of different accents around the world.
It is mainly because english is not properly taught and learnt. Few efforts are made on both ways, there are no skilled english teachers (that have a degree or something in the language) until highschool, and a lot of students are not interested/ do not make efforts to dive in. And the french accent is terrible...
shawod3 What do you mean "the French accent is terrible" ??? Of course it is, and I'm sure the Chinese one is awesome, the Russian one is wonderful ... We've all grown up in a very specific place, I do really not understand what is the matter with French people or French accent ôO - My best english teacher was Irish and he has a wonderfull Irish accent, and he does a lot of mistakes when he speaks French... and he say "J'm'en fous" ("I don't give a fuck") like : "I'm not French, I don't want to speak like a French man, it has no sense - but when I have something to say, I say it, cause this has a sense"
I did not know him at all before his presentation, but his dynamic and simple presentation on how to make a hit single blew everybody in the room. You should have been there to enjoy it. I have bought his CD and especially my 4 year old young son loves it like crazy.
His songs are inspiring both musically and lyrically (granted, I have to read translations). But there is so much emotion in them. He really takes his songs personal and pours so much emotion into them they often give me chills. And best part of it all? he has such a kind and caring heart. Go #Stromae !
Albert Hofmann maybe he doesn't speak English the whole time because he does not have to, I mean it clearly says tedex Brussels, which is in Belgium and their first language is French, therefore the language you should expect to hear is French, at least he was trying to speak a foreign language so that people from other countries could understand what he is saying. And Bill said it is good, he did not say your English is perfect. You try to speak French or Spanish or Russian or whatever in front of hundreds of people
I completely appreciate TedX's commitment to its communities, but moreso Stromae's commitment to his art, his process, and to the engagement of his networks. Wonderful presentation.
Same here, WTF, any ideas? I have been studying everything they could offer on çette mec phenomenal like 2-3 years ago, when he was a real BOOM in my country.

Formidable says it all...

Why so you can listen to his ONE ALBUM. HA
dfkdsf dfdf No...because French is a beautiful language. But being able to understand his album is definitely a plus.
This song is 2009 and it still sounds new to me. I love it. Stromae est fort.

"Snoop doggy dog" Stromae, 2011
It's the first surname of Snoop dog..

I love how sometimes when he tried to say "I" he accidentally kept saying "Je" which is not a bad thing, its just rly heartwarming

This is why I believe that as good of a singer as he is, he's an even better music producer. He's just so incredible at mixing music.
this isn't even him at his best and he's got em

Biting social criticism on cheerful tunes.
this young man over there is one of the best artists humanity ever produced. he says nothing without meaning!! Je l'aime enormement.
No, no, sir. Your English is actually good.
So why doesn't he speak English the whole time? His pronunciation might be good, but he doesn't know enough words.
