Girl I am in the exact same position. I did graduate from a good university, but moved back to my home country to be close to family where there are very few training contracts... now working as a paralegal, and it's good to see that you can get a training contract later on in life
You absolutely can! In some cases it can be easier to get a TC after you've been out in the world for a few years because you stand out (depending on what you've done since graduation). Both my sister and I have secured training contracts in our late 20s/30s so we are living proof.
Great tips! Recommend that all career changers and students (not just career changers) applying for training contracts watch this video! Great pieces of advice.
Great tips I’m in the same situation as you coming up as I graduated university in 2019 with a 2:1 with me being the first person in my family to go university and didn’t get back to the legal world until now. I’m going to start my LPC LLM in 8 months time . I think What I’m lacking right now is work experience as I don’t have a training contract .
Sorry for the late reply - I hope you're looking forward to starting your LPC LLM soon! I didn't have much direct legal work experience when I secured my TC (just one week in a local firm) so don't let that hold you back at all. Have you worked in other industries? If so, you should highlight your transferrable skills that you've learnt in other roles and explain how they will make you a great trainee.
Yep! But its doable if you want to sacrifice your time to make applications alongside working - it took me 18 months. The average age of qualification for solicitors in the UK is 29 so there isn't a need to rush :)
