    Looks almost exactly like a breakup of an orbiting spacecraft, like the space shuttle Columbia tragedy.

      Its the upper stage of a space x rocket. The upper stage always burns up after the payload has been dropped. Usually over the Indian ocean but this rocket was launched in California.

    I saw it an hour south of Las Vegas at about 1:42 am. A few minutes later it sounded like fireworks exploded and all the coyotes started yelping afterwards.

    It looks very much like what the Columbia looked like when it broke up on re-entry. I vote for a space craft or very large satellite disintegrating and burning up in the atmosphere..
    No one has mentioned what direction the debris was travelling in. That would be the best clue as to its origin.

    I saw these same burning lights about a little more than a year ago. Probably about midnight or so as well. I’m in North Dakota. I could see it come from over the horizon. It was headed west to east and stretched clear across the sky until it exited the atmosphere at around 95-100 degrees. Then I could see the fire go away when it enters space. Freaked me out but the next day I assumed it was space x

    I saw the most bizarre thing in the sky yesterday at sunset. It was a long looping streak in the sky, cloud like but not clouds, it glowed like a bio luminescent jelly fish in the sky. It shifted north in but didn't actually move or change shape. The streak had all sorts of twists and turns in it. It almost looked like an angel had been out flying and left some glowing trails. I have no idea wtf

      @@omi_god This was the upper stage coming back down from that launch. Happens like this every launch. We just never get to see the burn up of the upper stage because its usually over the Indian ocean.

      @@shaynejenkins446 Yes, the SpaceX de-orbits are typically over the Indian Ocean. What was different about this one, then, that caused it to be brought down over California?
      Whose booster was this? Was it even a booster at all?
      You seem to have all the answers - why was it over California?

    I'll take a guess and say it was 2nd stage of the SpaceX rocket launch; we saw this over WA/OR a couple years ago and it wound up being a secondary stage of a SpaceX launch to get Starlink satellites in orbit; apparently didn't quite make it where they could control its descent and so it burned up on reentry. This is so similar I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same scenario.
    OTOH there's so damned much space junk up there now with degrading orbits it could be just about anything from any country at any time. The less we're told the more likely it is that it was some sort of spy satellite or some shit.

      The upper stage burns up on every single launch. It usually burns up over the Indian ocean for most of space x launches.

    Something breaking up as it enters the atmosphere. It seems too slow for a meteor; I'll go with quite sizable human caused space debris.

    That's strange how theirs was no warning coming in are air space you can say what you want but have seen these lights also but it was different the lights were shooting at each other i was at my aunts house it was Halloween in 1990s something 😮
